In most cases, spam score increases with high numbers of spammy backlinks. If your website contains spam backlinks then the spam score of your website will increase.

How to remove spammy links/toxic backlinks?

Create a list of toxic or spammy backlinks and disavow them with the help of the Disavow links tool. Just choose your search console property and upload the spammy links you created.

Note:
It can take 2 weeks to disavow your site backlinks. But, spam scores will reduce and improve search ranking.
