So we are a brand new site looking to establish a link profile of earned links vs. manipulative link building practices and have received some conflicting information. Our goal is to provide users and webmasters of relevant websites with useful content about the areas and topics we cover and let them decide to link to us.  We have been advised by some parties that in order to develop a base set of links we should enter our website into directories.  Now I understand entering it into some of the main directories such as BOTW and Yahoo etc, but please offer your thoughts on smaller less official directories. So when I initially launched my website I had an issue where I didn't properly set my canonical tags and all my pages got crawled.  Now in looking at the search engine results I see a number of the pages that were meant to be canonical tagged to the correct page showing up in the results.  What is the best way to correct this issue with google? Also I noticed that while initially I was ranking well for the main pages, now those results have disappeared entirely and deeper in the rankings I am finding the pages that were meant to be canonical tagged. Please Help.

So I have a real estate website that is regularly changing listings, photos, data.  Every time a new listing is added it creates a page for that listing. My question is how frequently should I be recreating a new xml sitemap and uploading it to google webmasters? Thanks in advance.

Hi Everyone, So I recently launched a new site a few months ago, and initially I ranked great for a number of terms I am targeting then rankings decreased significantly.  In some cases, the pages targeting specific terms have disappeared from serps. Now I have heard about this "Honeymoon Phase" where google will give you a initial boost in rankings to test you out, and I have heard that they rank you higher initially based on a newness factor but can anyone offer insight into this? How long does it typically take to get back into the rankings? My site is build much better than the majority of my competitors and from what I can tell their link profiles are significantly superior to mine, but please help.
