I have a company that I started working with that has an outdated and inaccurate snippet coming up.  See the link below. They changed their name from DK on Pittsburgh Sports to just DK Pittsburgh Sports several years ago, but the snippet is still putting the old info, including outdated and incorrect description. I'm not seeing that title or description anywhere on the site or a schema plugin.  How can we get it updated?  I have updated titles, etc. for the home page, and done a Fetch to get re-indexed.  Does Snippet have a different type of refresh that I can submit or edit? Someone that reaches out to me on occasion for help but is mostly an SEO DIYer recently had his site copied completely and his traffic dropped significantly immediately after.  I have never had a  client experience this in the past. Does anyone have suggestions or expertise on this?  See his question and what he has done below.

This site scraped my credit site. Its appearance coincides with a dramatic sitewide decrease in Google traffic.I submitted a takedown request by paying this company $200. No results yet. Hello,  recently came across a company that has been paying people directly for reviews. I of course do not recommend this and realized the ethical implications and even the lawsuits that can come from this, but does Google have a manual penalty for fake reviews or do they just algorithmically discount ones that raise red flags? I have never really had to worry about this in the past.  I know you can flag fake reviews to them on an individual basis, but does anyone have history of knowing specific situations where a company was manually punished for doing this?  Just curious and I kind of wanted to give them strong documentation to knock it off.  Thanks in advance.

I had seen a thread on this a while back but no solution posted. There was a link posted to someone else explaining the issue but I got a 404 when clicking.  Have a client that does mostly PPC and they are getting their conversion page showing up as landing page from paid many times. This is definitely not a sitelink, etc.  The only way you get to this page is if you filled out the form. There are a few other pages showing up as landing pages that don't make sense too. Can this be attributed to someone being "inactive" for 30 minutes and then coming back and performing an action on this page (leaving)? If so, does this double count the conversion if a page visit here is a conversion? Just trying to make sense of the landing page report showing so many instances of our conversion page.

Thank you. It appears to have corrected itself. Has anyone ever seen that happen before? That was strange.  We didn't change anything that I know of. I set their targeted location to the US as that had not been done.  That's about it.

A chamber of commerce site near me has Google displaying their link in japanese characters when they search for them by name. If you google Eastern monmouth chamber of commerce, you will see this.

The site is emacc.org.  Can anyone tell me what might cause this or how to resolve?

Thanks.  I may dig in to that.  Initial consult was to tell them if they had been penalized, which seems clear.  Will dig deeper with some of these tools if they decide to move forward and try to fix it.  Trying to give them a list of options.

Thanks.  Great tip.  They have tons of those spammy anchor text links from the same subnets, etc.  Definitely will start there, though that is the majority, and move on down from there.  Initial consult was just to tell them if they have been penalized.  That seems clear.  I think they knew that.

Just kind of wanted to verify what I originally thought.  They are a mess.  Though I don't have the historical data to see the specific update that got them, from what I've seen just scratching the surface, they were a candidate for just about every update getting them.

Thanks Andy, Yes, I did mean a new site.  I really see very few good links on their profile, but it looks like disavowing them all, from what you are saying is likely their only option if it is going to follow them.  Just like to provide options other than paying me a lot of money to fix you, but that may be their only option, other than not ever relying on SEO again.  Though apparently, they have gone 2  years without it, so maybe that is an option. I have been doing SEO for years, but luckily have never had a client penalized or had to go through that.  I see everyone talking about it at conferences and know the absolute basics of recovery, but just had someone come to me that was algorithmically penalized about two years ago.  They have no actual data to show me a date and they couldn't tell me a specific date.  According to them, their SEO disappeared and wouldn't give them access to the analytics.  They are definitely showing just about every red flag with anchor tags and low trust links and tons of duplicate content.  Just about everything.  I realize you don't have the deep data to go by, but are there cases when it is just better to start over from scratch. They have literally thousands of bad links and strange site pages that they say they weren't even aware of. Whether they were or not I guess isn't the point now, but I have heard rumors that if you start over, Google will still figure it out and follow you with the penalty.  Is this true or documented?  Don't want to potentially recommend that if that is something that generally happens to bad offenders.  Happy to do the work and try to resolve their issues, but it is a lot of work and is going to be expensive and want to present other options.  Thanks and any thoughts suggestions are appreciated.

The Moz tool is not letting me do the address edit.  It just went through today with Google.  Do I just need to wait for Moz to index it. It says that I should change in Google first but it has been changed there.  Thanks.

Thanks.  My concern is that I don't want to create a new listing, but just change all of the original ones.  Does this edit do that with address? Sorry, I wasn't completely clear from  your answer. I had already loaded his information for the old address which no longer exists.  This is a new address but the same Google listing. Don't want the old one to exist any more. Thanks.

They successfully changed their Google+ local address. I have their listing in the Moz Local product.  How should I handle the address change?  Will it find it on its own? I noticed with another client it noticed a name change that occurred and automatically updated the listing. Does it do this with address change?  Thanks!

Sorry. I was reading in the discussion and someone had suggested changing the phone number on the listing and then closing. I'm guessing this would remove the NAP match of the listing and take away some of the negative issues with closing the location?  That was what I was referring to. I appreciate your help on this.  I am definitely much more informed on this than before and I don't know that there is a clear answer. It may come down to what the business needs to do from a non-SEO perspective and then we just adapt.  I can only inform them of the difficulties and risks involved.  Thanks again.

Thank you.  This is indeed a case where just the branch is closing and not the entire bank.  IT looks like this causes a problem but from the thread was just confusing.  Is it better to claim (if they haven't) and change the phone number on the listing before closing? Is it better to just leave it open if they still own the number even if the branch won't be there for people?

I have a client that is a bank that is closing a location. I have worked with moves, but not full closes.  Is there an easy tool or method in Moz Local to close a location everywhere?

Have a friend that does a site with bible verses and different peoples thoughts or feelings on them.  Since I'm an SEO he came to me with questions and duplicate content red flag popped up in my head. My clients all generate their own content so not familiar with this world.  Since Bible verses appear all over the place, is there a way to address this from an SEO standpoint to avoid duplicate content issues?
