For example, we all subscribe to MOZ, but if we received a 25% discount on our subscription if we linked back, would that be considered by Google as a paid link, or would it be seen as a sales tool / promotion?

If you discount a subscription when the client links to you, does that classify as a paid link?

RE: Changes at Raven Tools!
Thanks Rand...
It's amazing that a company the size of Google with the monopoly that it has in most markets can operate in this way.

RE: Changes at Raven Tools!
Exactly my thoughts...I haven't heard anything from SEOMoz so I can only assume that it's Raven specific, but that would be a big issue for Raven!

Changes at Raven Tools!
I received notification today that Raven tools will lose it's Adwords API, see below:
"Raven received notice from Google late last week that we would lose access to its AdWords API. Without API access, Raven can't provide Google AdWords research, management and reporting to our customers"
This is a massive blow as we use Raven to track progress for clients and also to run keyword research etc. Does anybody that knows Raven have a suitable alternative?
Thanks...

RE: WordPress & Page Numbers
Hi Marcin,
Agreed, but the issue is that I need to be able to write a specific title and meta description in order to target the keywords that this page is designed to target, therefore the template approach in this instance does not provide me with the flexibility that I need.
When I write a specific SEO title it overwrites the template system that you mentioned. More annoyingly I can't use the variables that you mentioned to write specific SEO titles, which I think is an oversight.
So I'm a bit stuck and looking for ideas...

WordPress & Page Numbers
Hi,
I am working on a large WP site for a client and have an issue with duplicate content and page numbers. I am using the Yoast SEO plugin but can't seem to resolve the issue.
Let me give an example:
If I go to a popular category, for example F1, there are over 10 pages of content for the category and although the URL changes, the Title and Meta Description stay the same.
Now...if I was using a template for the title and description I could add the page number variable, but as I am overwriting the template with SEO specific category information I can't use variables and hence the problem!
This is such a common problem I know somebody will have an answer!
Thanks

RE: Best Link Building technique using SEOMoz tools & Open Site Explorer
Hi, thanks for the response, but exporting and then ploughing through Excel seems such a manual way of doing things. Rand and the team must have thought of the process when they designed these tools...I get the feeling I'm missing something.
Link building is such a key part of what we do somebody in the SEOMoz community must have figured out a neat way of using the available tools?

RE: Changing my url name? Should I do it?
I agree, it would almost certainly make a difference, but using a 301 redirect is key. Changing the URL and adding a redirect should take no time at all, but may web companies have a minimum charge period.

RE: Another high bounce rate
Th page is OK but a little bland and with no real fucus. However I agree that if you look at the entry keywords with the high bounce rate all will become clear. I suspect you are ranking for a term that is not so relevant to your topic...

RE: Competitor seo
I've noticed that practice with one of my clients however although their was a very brief glitch in their rankings it soon returned to normal. I'd have to agree with Brent that they would need to create a huge number of links that swamp your links to really make any long term difference, and if they are prepared to do that they would be better off spending the time focusing on building quality links for their own site / client.

RE: Is this Directory Guide by SEOmoz still accurate?
Hi,
Could we also divide the directory by country?
The existing directory list is very US centric. I can understand why of course, but if we could also put together a UK list that would be great!
If you don't ask you don't get!

RE: Open Site Explorer missing links
Hi Rand,
Thanks for the response...
I provide my clients with a acreenshot of competitive analysis screen every three months so that we can gauge their ongoing success. I ran into the issue that all of their DAs had dropped and so they started asking questions.
That prompted me to run a comparison out of interest against Worktracker, Yahoo and Sypglass to try to determine whether it was a real issue or just a few remote domains missing that I really don't need to worry about.
The results were as follows for the client that I tested: (number of linking domains)
SEOMoz = 31
Wordtracker = 80
Spyglass = 74
Yahoo = 67
That's a pretty big difference.
When I looked further into the detail I found that I was missing some pretty big domains including:
joeant
crunchbase
Yell (big in the UK)
Yahoo directory
econsultancy etc...
To be honest I did these tests about 2 weeks ago, although I have just checked again and theya re still missing. It would be great if you could have a look into these as currently the domains being reported are about 20-25% down on the others.
Thanks

A keen advocate within the digital space, having worked in mobile, digital entertainment and online marketing/internet search.
For anybody with an entrepreneurial gene within their body the area of SEO and more specifically Keyword Research opens up huge opportunities for creative ideas, with little competition.
What other sector of the market enables you to plug into the customer's psyche, identify a need, quantify the opportunity size, research the competition and create a campaign all within 48 hours?
SEO is partly the research mechanism, and is also partly the solution, alongside the likes of Adwords, Twitter and Facebook. We now haw have a complete suite of marketing tools, both online and offline, which enable us to target a specific group, a country, a postcode or a gender.
The challenge, and the acid test that will differentiate, is identifying credible opportunities and implementing actionable and measurable plans to address those opportunities.
Looks like your connection to Moz was lost, please wait while we try to reconnect.
