Google and Wikipedia
Ok,
I love Wikipedia as much as the next guy but the amount of weight that google puts on this site is getting crazy. My search terms that I am going after are "speakers" and "loudspeakers"
Can somebody tell me why wikipedia needs the top 8 -10 spots for those terms? is that really a good search result for users of google?
More of a rant then a question I know. I just needed to get that off my chest!.

RE: Site comparison - what is wrong with me?
Thanks for your great suggestions.
Although BC has 6000 + pages the vast majority seem to be pdf's of their parts catalog. with no pr at all.
Nether one of BC or PSB have many links back with anchor text as "Speakers" the vast majority are the company names:
<a class="clickable title link-pivot" title="See top linking pages that use this anchor text">b c speakers</a> - 250+
PSB Speakers - 3000+
Do you think that google is seeing "psb speakers" as the company name and ignoring "speakers" as a relevant term?

RE: Site comparison - what is wrong with me?
Not really concerned on what page each one is on, or how generic the term is...
the question is why is one listed and the other is not when the metrics point in the opposite direction.

Site comparison - what is wrong with me?
www.bcspeakers.com/
vs
with the search term "speakers" why does BC speakers show up in around #50-60 and PSB is not in the top #1000?
From all metrics on seomoz PSB kicks BC in every area by a large margine! can anyone see why BC is listed for that keyword and PSB is not?

RE: Shortening Keywords in a title tag
Personally if i was searching for "Office Refurbishment" company i would type in "Office Refurb"
If I type in Office Refurb" i get results for "Office Refurbishment" so I think google treats them at leased close to the same way.

Google +1 not recognizing rel-canonical
So I have a few pages with the same content just with a different URL.
http://nadelectronics.com/products/made-for-ipod/VISO-1-iPod-Music-System
http://nadelectronics.com/products/speakers/VISO-1-iPod-Music-System
http://nadelectronics.com/products/digital-music/VISO-1-iPod-Music-System
All pages rel-canonical to:
http://nadelectronics.com/products/made-for-ipod/VISO-1-iPod-Music-SystemMy question is... why can't google + (or facebook and twitter for that matter) consolidate all these pages +1. So if the first two had 5 +1 and the rel-canonical page had 5 +1's. It would be nice for all pages to display 15 +1's not 5 on each.
It's my understanding that Google +1 will gives the juice to the correct page. So why not display all the +1's at the same time.
Hope that makes sense.

RE: Best XML Sitemap generator
I am wondering if they are talking about the paid version cus I run it on my site. www.psbspeakers.com and it comes up with all kinds of dup content.
<loc>http://www.psbspeakers.com/products/image/Image-B6-Bookshelf</loc>
<loc>http://www.psbspeakers.com/products/bookshelf-speakers/Image-B6-Bookshelf</loc>with this code siteing on both pages:
<link rel="canonical" href="http://www.psbspeakers.com/products/image/Image-B6-Bookshelf"/> -

RE: Facebook competition: what's the best way to do it
I think you should read facebook legal page. It says you can't run a contest based on likes or shares. The way to get around this is to run a third party contest app on your facebook page.
Correct me if I am wrong, but if a user shares a facebook contest page they are not made fans. So if you want more fans I would suggest making it a "like" contest.

RE: Best XML Sitemap generator
Thanks Ryan.
That's the one I already use, but it does not take canonical's into account so i end up with 2-3 links for the same page.
