I put it on the back burner for a while. This morning i had another go and I think it was caused by shortcodes for accordion style links put in a long time ago by someone else. I've taken the shortcode out and will see if things have improved on the next report.

I have a similar problem but just a mere 500 extra long links. I have whittled 1,148 broken links down to 22 and aiming for zero.

With the titles too long do I need to worry where I have linked out to other sites in a post that that might create new broken links or are there other things I should consider?

I always understood that I could fill that title bar and there would not be a problem. On examining the offending links I see that as the domain name has 32 characters from the first www to the m in .com which when prefaced with http:// and the title in the tilte bar creats a huge url. (I know the domain length is pushing it and know about the number of characters for Adwords)

So I just change the title in Yoast and don't bother about the title at the top of the page and the prermalink that was originally created?

I will do whatever it takes to clear up the problems but would like to sort the title links in one hit as I go through page by page.

Your advice would be appreciated.

I have used the Crawl Diagnostic reports to greatly reduce the number of 404 errors but there is a bunch of 16 urls that were all published on the same date and have the same referrer url but  I cannot see the woood for trees as to what is causing the error.

**The 404 error links have the structure:**http://www.domainname.com/category/thiscategory/page/thiscategory/this-is-a-post

The referrer structure is:

http://www.domainname.com/category/thiscategory/page/2/

Any suggestions as to how to unravel this would be appreciated.

When I click on a link to a recent report I don't end up there. I end up on a site I do not recognise or have time to plough through. Can anyone please give me a link to the reports.

Someone else supports this site in terms of making changes so I want to make sure that I know what I am talking about before I speak to them about changes.

We seem to have a lot of duplicate content and duplicate titles.

This is an example http://www.commonwealthcontractors.com/tag/big-data-scientists/ of a duplicate. Do I need to get things changed?

The other problem that crops up on reports is too many on page links. I am going to get shot of the block of tags but need to keep the news. Is there much else I can do?

OK so in marshalling my arguments for a change in design how detrimental is this design from an seo perspective?

Just got my seomoz report and decided I better start takiling things. Got a lot of 'too many links' on the report. I don't have control over website design and before I talk to designer I thought I should have a bit of an handle on what I am talking about.

I've taken one page that has 483 links. Is this caused by the tags box and would it be a good idea to have it removed?

I have a similar query from a client and I am wondering if the way ahead is to use the domain names as sub domains and give a different look to the niche sections (using Wordpress btw) and list all on the sitemap. That is possible? Advisable?
