I have a successful vacation rental company that has terrible seo but getting better.  When I first ran Moz crawler and page grader, I had 35,000 errors and all f's....  tons of problem with duplicate page content and titles because not being consistent with page names... mainly capitalization and also rel canonical errors... with that said,  I have now maybe 2 or 3 errors from time to time, but I fix every other day.

Problem Maybe

My site map shows in Google Webmaster

submitted 1155
1541 indexed

But google crawl shows 23,000 pages probably because of duplicate errors or possibly database driven url parameters...

1. How bad is this and how do I get this to be accurate,  I have seen google remove tool but I do not think this is right?

2)  I have hired a full time content writer and I hope this works

3. My site in google was just domain.com but I had put a 301 in to www.domain.com becauses www. had a page authority where the domain.com did not.   But in webmasters I had domain.com just listed. So I changed that to www.domain.com (as preferred domain name) and ask for the first  time to crawl.   www.domain.com .   Anybody see any problems with this?

Thanks for the response,  I did have someone go through it all using copyscape and at that time 180 days ago it was pretty much clean,  I guess I have to go back and cleanse it...

I will start moving the content,  thank you....If I had to guess I would think wordpress cms will do much better than mine,  but can provide a specific as to why you feel it will do better as far as site optimization...  using Yoast I know will help but other than that?

All of you guys rock!  I have never been involved in a community that has had the right answers every time... I used the   on all my static pages such as directions, policies, contact, etc... and it removed all the parameters thereby eliminating them from standing out in the MOZ crawl.. I feel like and idiot not knowing about this HTML tag and its importance.   My moz crawl now looks so so much better.

When I mean old url parameters, I just meant a few seconds old,  meaning the user is on property.aspx?property=1  then when they moved to a static page such as contact, directions, policy we now have another page called contact.aspx?property=1 which if I have 150 properties times 10 static pages I basically just created 150 duplicate content errors just for the contact page alone.   Because contact.aspx?property=1 or contact.aspx?property=150 and in between are all the same page... I am sure this has killed my SEO.   SO THAT PROBLEM IS NOW FIXED!!

NOW to revisit what zenstorageunits says about URL rewriting which has many different ways to do it using .net,  but Miketek I would not have to create subdirectories because it is done in the code... they are more like virtual directories...

zenstorageunits or anyone else for that matter, Is it worth it for me to hire somebody to create a URL rewrite app that can change the following;

http:/www.destinationbigbear.com/property_detail.aspx?propid=202 to

http://www.destinationbigbear.com/big-bear-cabin-rentals/a-true-cabin/details

and

http:/www.destinationbigbear.com/property_photos.aspx?propid=202 to

http://www.destinationbigbear.com/big-bear-cabin-rentals/a-true-cabin/photos

See everyone of my 150 cabins has these pages;   info, photos, calendar, video, reviews, rates...and they all have unique cabin names... so it is basically 150 cabins x 6 pages = 900 unique pages with unique content but really only 6 pages dynamically being changed by 150 cabins.

I have been able to dynamically change all the page titles for everyone of these 900 database driven pages such as

Big-Bear-Cabin | A True Cabin Photos   or Big-Bear-Cabin | A True Cabin Calendar and so on.

I just moved my blog from a wordpress hosted solution to my owner server and am really hopeful that all the SEO ready wordpress pages plus I downloaded Yoast SEO will move my site.   I started with 9000 pages being moz indexed with tons of errors eyerywhere,  I have almost fixed everything getting ready to do a google index.     One question.

I have a directory of businesses and events for my local mountain community that is home grown with about 200 pages.   see here:  http://www.destinationbigbear.com/directory/bigbeardirectory.aspx  which has a PA of 21 which is the same as my DA 21  (I know terrible)...

Should I migrate these 200 pages with images to wordpress to take advantage of all the nice SEO possibilities?   I have staff and it would probably take about $600 bucks to do it.   I would only have to put about ten  301's such as

http://www.destinationbigbear.com/directory/contentcat.aspx?ParentID=7   would be http://www.destinationbigbear.com/big-bear-restaurants/

How do I stop the Moz crawler from creating false duplicate content errors.   I have yet to submit my website to google crawler because I am waiting to fix all my site optimization issues.

Example:   contactus.aspx?propid=200,  contactus.aspx?propid=201....    these are the same pages but with some old url parameters stuck on them.   How do I get Moz and Google not to consider these duplicates.  I have looked at http://moz.com/learn/seo/duplicate-content with respect to

Rel="canonical"

and I think I am just confused.

I did not think I was wrong to want to know details.  I have a spa company that manages 80 spas for me,  I want to know what they do weekly to ensure quality but that does not mean that I want to enter the Spa servicing industry.

Oleg,   should I then use wordpress.destinationbigbear.com as a subdomain rather than destinationbigbear.com.wordpress or should I look at migrating the entire software to my own server and use destinationbigbear.com/blog

I have developed some really good relationships locally with other business where i have written reviews of their business and put them in my own directory on my website but have not linked to their website (just content and phone numbers and addresses.   Each weekend I can have 1000 guests stay at our homes so our business directory on our website is valuable to our renters, I did this with the intent of now reaching back out to these businesses and asking them to link to me because I have been sending them businesses... some of them have PA's in the 40's and mine is 21.

I am creating a new section on my blog that has 7 articles related to owning a 2nd home and using it as a vacation rental... This information is very valuable and all the real estate agents I work with I usually email this to them to pass onto their clients...   If I have them link back to this section of my website will the fact that it is wordpress hurt me? Example below.

I have spent so much time investigating what it takes to move my domain up the ladder.   I have so far determined good quality optimized website and I am almost done with that. MOZ Rules!

If I look at Open Site Explorer at my competitors it gives me some of their backlinks...  Some people say backlinks are not as important anymore.    But If I am in a Vacation Rental business and I can get other websites/blogs with high PA to post some good content that I write to link back to my website this should raise my SEO?  Correct.

I am fortunate that online media assets always seem to have articles such as "The best destinations this Fall",   "Getting away for a long weekend",  etc......

In the past I have been contacted by writers/bloggers that wanted to trade free stays at my homes for an article.... back then I had no idea what a PA was,  but now I can at least point MOZ at their website to see if it is worth it.

I was also thinking about hiring somebody to do this.....My question is two part...

1. Am I on the right track about building good quality backlinks from high PA with truly good content.  I have been writing articles now for 30 days along with this other stuff and have probably 10 unique pieces plus another 20 in our recent blog...

2. When SEO companies call me weekly they all say "we can get you to the top 3 placements in 60 days or other say 3 to 5 months or others say 6 to 7 months."  Being a business person I ask,   "How do you do it? and what tools do you use?"   I never get a straight answer,  because they say it is trade secrets..... or they say they use internal tools....

This kills me! I do not want to do this myself,  be an SEO company I just want to know the process a vendor will use to raise my SEO.    If they were to say I have contacts at these 5 major websites and I am going to get your content listed on these websites...  I would say great.    4 years ago I paid a company monthly for a year who moved my domain name from 70 to 35 but that happened in the first 3 months and then nothing.   And he would never tell me what they were doing...  plus now I realize my site optimization was crap.   Out of 10 keyword phrases,  the highest I got right now is 32 and a new guy on the block is less than 10 and has less content and backlinks...   I wonder once my site optimization is done will that really really help me.

Is it too much for a SEO to tell me specifics!    I have purchased MOZ,  Authority Labs, Buzz Stream, SEO tracker,  I am committed to this...

I have 15,000 facebook page likes and 80 you tube videos, pinterest and twitter too...

The different pages such as photos, calendars, etc per cabin are not being flagged as duplicate but rather the same page but different cabins..

Such as

http://www.destinationbigbear.com/property_Detail_v.aspx?propid=203

http://www.destinationbigbear.com/property_Detail_v.aspx?propid=203

Same Layout, Same Page Title, Same Meta information but 100% different content because of different cabin descriptions.... so that is why I am planning on dynamically changing page titles and meta descr by inserting the cabin names.
