Google News Application
I am wondering what I can do to get my site into Google News.
I have followed their guidelines but had my site declined.
I have a news sitemap, a staff page, a contact page with all info provider, etc etc.
But my application was denied. One my largest competitors just got accepted so I would love to get in.

RE: URL Shorteners. Are they SEO Friendly?
You will get credit for the link since they act as 301 redirects. But whenever possible use the real url

RE: Web Page Refresh
You should not do that. There is no benefit to users and no need for you to artificially inflate page views per visit or anything. If users are spending time on your site and not bouncing or having any kind of trouble then what is the point of refreshing?
You will know that the page views are fake so what purpose does it serve?

RE: Link exchange with nofollow return
Thanks for the response. I create a lot of content and get a lot of links that way. But when I do use link exchanges like mentioned above then what do you think aboutthe nofollow situation

Link exchange with nofollow return
I own a gaming site and a common practice with gaming sites is to link with other sites that post about similar game franchises.
I noticed that some sites do this and they put nofollows on their links back. What is your thought on this?
Should I remove their link if they do that? Should I keep it up and just be glad to get thousands of nofollow links in return for some dofollows out of my site?

RE: Onsite Content - Word Count & KW Density
This is always a discussion I see that really does not matter all that much. Do not write content with keyword density in mind. Write it on topic and for the users and it should com naturally. If you focus too much on pushing your keyword in teh copy then it will look spammy and may be hard for readers.
As for length, I say the more the better. You do not want a page with nothing on it but you also do not want pages and pages of absolute nothing. 500-1000 words i think is a good range

RE: Strange duplicate url
About how many do you have total? You could do redirects for the ones but if you have a lot then that would become an issue.

RE: What can i use instead the juicy link finder?
market samurai is a fairly cheap seo and market research software. it also has link acquisition tools in it.
but i honestly just prefer to do google searches to find linking opportunities.

RE: Singular vs plural in urls
The way I have always looked at this is to add the 's'
That way you have the singular AND plural keyword covered.
The singular is of course in the url as well and that s just makes your site more optimized for the plural too.
Then to really differentiate which one you want to rank for, just change some the other on page factors and link building

RE: Can or should you use a residential address for Google places?
Only if you are running a home business. You will want to do citations to your places page to boost its credibility so it is best that it is a real address that you use for your business.
If you do not use that address for your business then I would say no you should not

RE: Wordpress hacked. Entire content wiped out
Just wanted to add on. If you have cpanel access where you could get to phpmyadmin you could change the pass or user type. or even create a new admin to regain control. this is useful when you forget a pass and no longer have email access or something
