Hi I was hoping somebody could provide me with some help regarding places pages. If I search 'recruitment agencies Chester' I get this result https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=recruitment+agencies+chester&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a&gws_rd=cr&ei=LsBTUr6rJ8Sw0wXt74CQAg I am confused as to why certain sites are ranking higher than others for example: The site with the a) ranking has no reviews and the place page doesn't seem particularly optimised. The site ranked at c) has 2 bad reviews The site ranked at g) seems to have a much more optimised places page yet ranks below the other sites. Is this just a strange batch of results or can somebody provide me with more information/ help? I don't understand the ranking system at the moment. Thanks for any help you might be able to offer!

My site has been on page one for 2 phrases consistently from May onwards this year. The site has fewer than 100 backlinks and the link profile looks fairly even. On Friday we were on page 1, we even had a position 1, however now we are on page 6. Do you think this is Penguin or some strange Google blip? We have no webmaster tools messages at all. Thanks for any help!

We are currently in the process of creating a new website in place of our old site (same URL etc.) We've recently created another website which has the same design/ layout/ pictures and general site architecture as our new site will have. If I was to add alt test to images only on one site would we still be penalised by Google as the sites 'look' the same, event thought they will have completely different URL's and different focusses on a similar topic. Content will be different also, but both sites will focus on a similar subject. Thanks

This is a general question, I was wondering if anybody had used content now before, either for content writing or link building. I've had them mentioned to me by a manager but would like to hear the opinions of others too. Has anybody used anything similar for creating content at all? Thanks

I have a well established website that I market as the busness being based in London, how hard would it be for me to start ranking for phrases in America? (An increasing amount of our work is being carried out in America.) What exactly would it entail? Thanks in advance.

Has anybody else noticed that they are ranking better on 'places' yet they have dropped off in the actual search results? We've had no message through webmaster tools. The same seems to have happened to our competitors.

How can we get our Google Place page to rank higher, and how can we then keep it there instead of seeing it bounce around? We seem to have trouble getting a decent ranking for our places page even though out website ranks well on Google for geographical phrases?
