By incorrect, I mean that the content has the wrong information about the business. It looks like it is serving up a very old meta description tag.

I believe it is pulling in an old description meta tag that was on the homepage months ago. The description tag was updated ages ago - though I can't seem to get Google to re-cache it....

A client's description in their Google Places result is incorrect. It looks as though it may have been cached several months ago with incorrect data.

Note: By description I am referring to the text that appears directly under the URL and directly above the "places page" link on a results page, not the local listing "description".

Any suggestions as to how this can be fixed? All the information on their local page is correct. The website's meta-description is correct. The organic results listing has the correct description. Any tips would be awesome.

Part of our link building strategy for a dentist is to submit their site to several relevant directories. If I enter the same description in each directory, is it possible that Google will consider this duplicate content and prevent link juice from being passed back to the dentist's site?

Hi Justin, I think this is similar to the approach I'm taking with unique pages for each "theme". I'm wondering how to handle the different ways the words in a keyword term can be ordered and if unique pages should be created for each variation? For example how would you handle a page on Dental Implants?

Page theme: Dental Implants Boston keyword term a) Boston Dental Implants
keyword term b) Dental Implants in Boston

How far would you take this? Would you create a different page for each Location keyword term?

For example, say I have a page about just Teeth Whitening that I want to optimize for "Boston Teeth Whitening" and "Teeth Whitening in Boston".  Would you split this into 2 pages (1 for each keyword phrase), or try and optimize the page for both phrases?

I'm optimizing a website for a dentist and I'm looking for the best approach to incorporating the location into the keyword terms. For example if a dental practice in Boston has a page on Cosmetic Dentistry what would be the best approach for optimizing for "Boston Cosmetic Dentist", "Boston Teeth Whitening" and "Cosmetic Dentist in Boston"? How should I handle the repetition of the location name?

Will I get the best results by using the full keyword terms several times on the page "example a" or will "example b" provide similar results?

Title Tag:

a) Boston Cosmetic Dentist | Boston Teeth Whitening | Cosmetic Dentist in Boston
b) Boston Cosmetic Dentist | Teeth Whitening

H1

keywords to sprinkle through content

It's important to rank for all 3 keywords but the pages would be flooded with the words Dentist and Boston if I use each phrase exactly.

Say I'm optimizing a website for a Veterinarian in North York, a neighborhood in Toronto. Is it important to use Toronto in the keywords/ keyword phrases?

When people from within Toronto search for "North York Veterinarian" and "North York Dog Kennel" I want to be found.

If I optimize a page for the keyphrases "North York Veterinarian" and "North York Dog Kennel" and only mention Toronto once in the footer with the office address will that be enough for Google to serve up these results in Toronto?

When selecting keywords to track in campaign mode, how should I enter the keywords for a company located in a city that shares the same name as another city in a different state?

My assumption is that if you're searching for "Garden City Plumber" within Garden City Michigan that Google will know your IP and show local results (as opposed to results from Garden City California). If I want to track the key phrase "Garden City Plumber" in campaign mode how will SEOMoz know which city to deliver results for?

Thanks so much for the quick response EGOL. I'm quite sure this isn't a duplication content issue, it is a website for dental practice and all of the content is fresh and unique to them.

We're in planning stage of the link building process, this is tops on our list.

I was surprised to see the site drop completely out of the SERP for searches such as the practice name. When it does rank it is pages deep and a it is an internal page that is listed (as opposed to the index page).

In Yahoo and Bing the index page ranks within the top 5 results for the company name. In Google the index page ranked well for the 1st couple of weeks, now it doesn't rank at all except for really long tailed searches. I've created similar sites with strong results for similarly competitive keywords. But this is the 1st time I have experienced this and the only real difference was this site had a brand new domain and no existing site before.

I have a new site with a new domain that ranked well the 1st week or so after it was indexed then it totally dropped off the SERP.

My question is, does Google Sandboxing affect new sites on new domains that don't have any incoming links? The site dropped off before I began link building - from what I've read unnatural link build is often the cause. Can you still be sandboxed without any link building?

If this is the case, are there things I can do to get out of the sandbox?

The index page for a site I manage has dropped significantly - internal pages rank above it. It's a new site, 2 months old but was ranking at 1st. Any suggestions as to how I can debug this?
