Actually those posts get permanently deleted after a while (1-5 months). But as I said before, some of them get deleted and then they need to be reposted again before they will get permanently deleted.

I don't own that site but the owner of the site needs post to be kept in the trash because those posts often have to be restored.

Redirecting deleted posts 301 vs 302
There is a category on WP where job ads are posted. when a post got deleted I would like to pass 404 error page and redirect all those deleted posts to specific category.
I found WP plugin Auto Redirect 404 in 301 for Trashed Posts which does redirect deleted post to specific URL. But posts which are in the trash (not permanently deleted) will get 302 redirects. Those deleted permanently will get 301 redirects.
Should I try editing this plugin or find another why? Maybe there is similar way with Redirection plugin?

RE: Is this canonical issue?
Thanks, my question was answered.
But there is one more thing I would like to know.
- How to edit canonical tags in WP?
This WP site has basically no backlinks but in future website optimization I want to know it because how come Yoast plugin set canonical main page with a trailing slash then WP default site domain set without a slash and permalink structure has no trailing slash too?
I know that then backlink uses URL without slash and URLS and main page on the site use trailing slash then you leak some link juice.
Thanks

Is this canonical issue?
WP site has automated canonical on domain.com/ by Yoast plugin but there is URL (/?page=kontaktine-forma) where same domaim.com/ canonical tag was put on. I made 301 redirect to main page. Is this a good practice?

RE: Redirect both / and non-/ URLs?
There is my .htaccess at the moment:
<ifmodule mod_rewrite.c="">RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^index.php$ - [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]</ifmodule>I don't want to mess with it because I don't have an access to cpanel.

RE: Redirect both / and non-/ URLs?
Well, I want non-trailing URLs as they are at the moment. They should be (the ones without trailing slash) rel canonical as they were before I changed permalink structure ( it was set to default: /?p=123) to /%postname%
I guess I will wait a crawl to see how it is at the moment and fix all those pages with 404.
BTW, google shows my site and pages with /. Maybe it hasn't recrawled yet.

Redirect both / and non-/ URLs?
I am doing SEO on WP site. Due to some duplicate pages (rel canonical was done before) I am doing 301 redirects at the moment. And I wonder if I need to redirect both links w/ and w/o trailing slash. Default is non www, w/o trailing slash.
Like there is .com/category/news but there is same page linked in .com/news (well it works when permalink structure is set to /%category%/%postname% and returns 404 error when structure is set to /%postname%).
I redirected .lt/naujienos to .lt/category/naujienos. Should I also redirect .lt/naujienos/ (with trailing slash)? There's absolutely no problem redirecting this, but there are some more pages which I want to edit their URLs and I wonder If I should do both redirects from links /w and w/o slash?

RE: Duplicate links from forum what to do?
Well, I only need optimize site.com/ and 4-5 more pages on it. I agree that indexes of forum on google are valuable but I don't know how to handle all these errors, there are way too many of them. There are canonical tags and some 301 redirects because site has duplicate content on the site (same pages on site.com/site/) but I don't know what to do with a forum.

Duplicate links from forum what to do?
After a crawl it found over 5k errors and over 5k warnings. Those are: Duplicate page content; Duplicate page title; Overly-Dynamic URLs; Missing Meta descr; Title Element too long. All those come from domain.com/forum/
I don't need SEO on forum so what should I do? What could be an easy solution to this? No index? No follow? Please help

Duplicate pages on wordpress
I am doing SEO on a site which is running on WP. And it has all pages and categories duplicates on domain.com/site/
However, as it got crawled I saw that all domain.com/ pages have rel=canonical with main page tag (does it mean something?). Thing is I will fix permalinks structure and I think WP automatically redirects if it is changed from /?page_id= to /%category%/%postname%/ or /%postname%/
Isn't there something I miss?
Second problems is a forum. After a crawl it found over 5k errors and over 5k warnings. Those are: Duplicate page content; Duplicate page title; Overly-Dynamic URLs; Missing Meta descr; Title Element too long. All those come from domain.com/forum/ (fortunately, there are no domain.com/site/forum duplicates).
What could be an easy solution to this?
