Best Way To Estimate Size Of Customer Base?
Hi. Just wondering what you all thought would be the best way to estimate a customer base for a certain niche? I'd be willing to pay for this service, if there are companies who do this sort of thing. But I'm assuming I'll be able to do it for free... How much weight should I putting into facebook ad data? Any advice?

Tweeting affiliate links...?
I work in the music business & am published music producer. I'm an authority in my niche. Yada yada. I have a website that sells products to other music producers. I recently set up an affiliate partnership with someone who is also in the music business but on the management side. She is not an authority to my customers as far as music making goes. But she does have a huge following of people who are EXACTLY who I am targeting. She has been tweeting my affiliate links. The traffic has been great, but the purchase response has not been. I've had much better responses from reviewers and other music producers who have tweeted my links. I was just wondering if anyone had any tips for the most effective ways of tweeting affiliate links? Thanks!

Checkout abandonment fix w/ Shopify?
Hey everybody. I run a digital product site on Shopify. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with on page fixes for checkout abandonment? On my site... 31% of people add to cart & never get to checkout. 66% of people reaching checkout abandon their checkouts. Obviously a lot of sales are flying out the window. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Is checkout page setup (in regards to abandonment) this sensitive?!?!
About a week ago, I added a google checkout button (which wasn't really positioned well) & option to add a note on my checkout page for my site. Over the next three days, my cart abandonment was 100%!!!!! 16 customers got to checkout, but all of them dropped out... I was starting to freak out and finally took the google button & note option down. Since then, I'm back up to about 50% abandonment. Is the ecosystem of a checkout page really this sensitive? If so, holy S#$%! Just wondering if anyone has any general advice or links for me to study up on checkout abandonment. Maybe we can get a Whiteboard Friday discussing this?

On Page URL's not updating?
I recently moved my site to Shopify which completely changed the URL structure. I went to my old pages and created permanent 301 redirects to my new pages on shopify. For some reason, the On Page reports are not picking up on one of the new pages. This is effecting my grading. Just wondering why this is happening & whether this may be an indication of a larger problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Removing a lot of content & changing url structure.
I recently moved an existing ecommerce site, which I recently purchased, from Volusion to Shopify. The new site has a completely different link structure. The old site also had about 120 products which are not even close to being up to par with the products I now have on the site. So I had to remove all of those pages too. I was just wondering which measures I need to take to deal with this? I created a really nice 404 page. I also 301 redirected the pages which still exist. But I was wondering if there is anything else I should do? Should I request a removal of all the old pages, which no longer exist? Should I do something else I'm not thinking about? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. jim

Am I spreading my content & site thin?
I have a video section on my site. Basically I am filtering quality videos for my readers to check out. The videos are pretty much all embedded youtube/vimeo vids. There are a few categories, which are pretty niche-y in relation to my readers. In general they probably aren't seen as too relevant to the overall content on my site... Is it a mistake to keep these videos up? Could they be messing up my rankings since they aren't necessarily in line with the rest of the content on my site?

Not provided EXPLOSION!!!!
Hi everybody. I bought an established website about 2 years ago. When I took it over, I went in and did a pretty good job of link building (my pre seomoz days) & tripled my search traffic to about 90 a day. At the beginning of this year, I saw a steady decline in search traffic, which eventually evened out at around 25-30 a day. I recently updated the site with new content, some really interesting stuff. But I have not promoted it at all, I wanted to see how my sales changed with the new content up w/ no advertising. For some reason, yesterday my search engine traffic SPIKED up to 148 & today so far seems to be the same. Not that I am complaining, but does anyone have any idea how this could have happened? I really didn't put that much new content on my site... Also, 72 of those 148 searches are "not provided"... Untitled-1.jpg

Should I Remove This Subdirectory From Google?
On my site, I have a subdirectory. It posts articles from a bunch of websites that my readers are interested in & links back to all of those sites. There is no original content in it. There are over 1700 indexed pages in this subdirectory. The rest of my site has about 500 (all original content). The search engine traffic for this subdirectory only accounts for 3.9% of my sites overall visits. Should I consider removing this subdirectory? Could all the duplicate content be hurting the rankings of my legit pages? What do you all think?

Backlinks... If you can beat them & join them?!
I have a competitor who has swooped in on most of the key search terms in my niche, solely through artificial backlinking. There is a direct and obvious correlation between this link building and rise in the serps. I know the mantra around here is creating good content and gaining real links, which I am doing. But I am waiting to unleash this content during a site relaunch which is months away. I don't want to sit around and do nothing while this site makes money and builds their list. I have money to spend and want to go head to head with this site. Would it make sense for me to go and copy all of the links this competitor has built? At least 90% of them are profiles, article subs and blog comments. Also, what do you think would be the best way to tackle this? Any guidance as always is appreciated.

SEOMOZ .org?
So... Why the .org and not the .com for seomoz? Just curious... Is it just to make it seem less commercial? What do you all think?

How should I handle these links?
I recently purchased a site which is in the same niche as my personal blog. MANY of the keywords which I want both sites to rank for, they are already ranking well for (Eg I rank #1 with one site and #5 for the other). I haven't started linking the two sites to each other yet (waiting to announce the acquisition before I do). I have 2 questions for you all... How powerful do you think linking between these sites could be? How do you think I should handle the linking between these two sites?

Embracing Piracy...
Hi everybody. I recently purchased on an ecommerce site which deals 100% with digital product. Unfortunately there is a rather large online community who illegally share my products. I was considering ways to combat this piracy (It's impossible to stop it completely) and then I started wondering if it would make more sense for me to post something to the forums & blogs that pirate my stuff saying... "Although he disapproves of piracy, the owner of this product realizes that it is impossible to eliminate it completely. Instead, he asks that you please head over to ####.com and like us on facebook, +1 us, etc. But remember there are advantages to purchasing products on ####.com, here is a list of them... " What do you all think? Would the SEO advantages of doing this outweigh the time & money it takes to fight the piracy?
