I understand that the data on Google Analytics and Alexa would probably differ a little bit, but in our case, we see a substantial difference between the reporting parameters between these two. For example, the Alexa data shows that the number of page views per visit is approximately 11 pages whereas Google gives a figure closer to 5 pages/visit. The avg time spent on a visit is approximately 15 minutes on Alexa but closer to 4 mins on Google Analytics!
Any inputs on why this huge discrepancy would exist?
TIA

Has anybody seen any implications of the latest update from Google (termed Pigeon Update by Searchengineland.com)?
What would be a good Q & A Plugin to use? We are an independent portal that is custom developed on the LAMP stack and now want to integrate a Q & A section to our site. Any recommendations on plugins that we should look to use would be of great help!

For some reason all pages on our site seem to be taking ages to load as they seem to be getting stuck at the "waiting for google-analytics.com"! Anyone else facing similar issues today?
Hi Martin,
Thankfully the issue in GWT seems to be sorted out! I can see that the number of items and pages is back to where it was before the huge drop last week!

Hi David,
I have used the Structured Data testing tool and can see that the structured data is correct and showing up properly. The issue is that we have made NO changes to the structured data and yet we see a large drop in these pages being recognized by Google over the last one week! We do not see any Errors in the GWT structured data section as well!
On using the site: operator for our site on Google search, I see a large drop in total results. We had around 900,000 pages till yesterday and now I see this number around 350,000!
The funny thing is that on GWT, I see that we have 725,000 pages submitted in sitemaps and around 645,000 of these are indexed! Not sure if this is a blip in Google and related to a huge drop in the structured data that we are also seeing in GWT! In addition, there seems to be a drop in rankings on a number of keywords that we were ranking on as well.
For reference, the site is mycity4kids.com
TIA,
Asif
Have noticed a significant drop in structured data items and pages on GWT in the last one week. We have not made any changes and can still see that we have the rich snippet implementation in place across our site. Has anyone else noticed this drop? What could be possible reasons for the same?
On 8th July we had 646,801 items showing up on Structured Data, which dropped to 227,529 on 11th July and 66,161 on 14th July 2014!!

We were earlier using the meta keywords tag on our pages and on reading a recommendation on Moz for the same being redundant, we went ahead and removed the same!
Can anyone provide inputs on whether the meta keywords tag is really irrelevant or actually detrimental to a page?
Thanks
I have a local content based website which gives information of services under different categories and subcategories in a segment across multiple localities. Our menu is found across all pages and the menu has about 150 different links to sub-categories and categories. On any listings page that comes up, when you choose a particular category or sub-category, we have another 100 links relating to the individual listings in addition to the menu which is consistent across all pages. Is this a problem?
We see that our Domain Authority is hovering around the same mark for over a year now. I have 2 questions -
How important is DA? Does it affect your Google Page Rank?
What would ideally be the things that we need to keep in mind if we are to increase our Domain Authority?
Thanks
Thanks Martijn
Could you please tell how many ways are there to check whether a page is indexed or not?
Someone on a different forum told me that we can check "indexed status" of a url by directly googling that url, there is no need to use "site:" operator.
Thanks Martijn,
Yes, if a user enter a search term then these URL get formed. for example if you visit : www.mycity4kids.com and enter Collage Painting Classes in 1st search box and Shalimar Bagh in 2nd search box then you will see this:** http://www.mycity4kids.com/Delhi-NCR/collage-painting-classes-<near>-shalimar-bagh</near>** url in address bar.
We have submitted these urls on google webmaster using a "sitemap" for indexing still none of them are indexed.
My website has 0.5 million pages with urls like this- **http://www.mycity4kids.com/Delhi-NCR/collage-painting-classes-%3cnear%3e-shalimar-bagh ****, **none of these urls are indexed.
Question 1- What can be the possible reason for this issue? Users see this url as : http://www.mycity4kids.com/Delhi-NCR/collage-painting-classes-<near>-shalimar-bagh</near>
The symbol "<" and ">" get converted into "%3c" and "%3e" respectively, is this the reason for these urls not getting indexed?
"Site:" search for site:http://www.mycity4kids.com/Bangalore/activity-based-approach is showing 76 results.I am using SERPS Redux to collect all the indexed pages, but when I re-checked indexed status of these pages using "site operator" google showed that these pages are not indexed.
What is the possible explanation for this?
Thanks
Will the following urls will be considered as two different urls?
1. www.example.com/key=value1& key2=value2
2. www.example.com/key2=value2 & key=value1
Thanks Jane,

Thanks David,
I found that a few of these urls were not crawled by Googlebot for a month or so. Now when i checked the last crawled status using "cache:", i found out that these pages were crawled again only recently and probably that is why it is back in top 10 results (main index).
I have one question: When does an url go into "Supplemental Index" ?
Google search results for a particular query was appearing in top 10 results but now the page appears but only after clicking on the " omitted results by google."
My website lists different businesses in a particular locality and sometimes results for different localities are same because we show results from nearby area if number of businesses in that locality (search by users) are less then 15.
Will this be considered as "duplicate content"? If yes then what steps can be taken to resolve this issue?
