How do I get rid of all the 404 errors in google webmaster tools after building a new website under the same domiain
I recently launched my new website under the same domain as the old one. I did all the important 301 redirects but it seems like every url that was in google index is still their but now with a 404 error code. How can I get rid of this problem? For example if you google my company name 'romancing diamonds' half the link under the name are 404 errors. Look at my webmaster tools and you'll see the same thing. Is their anyway to remove all those previous url's from google's indexes and start anew?

RE: SEO for Global Navigations
Thank you for the insight Chris. Yes I see that it works on mobile devices and iPads.
When you do an SEO Audit for the navigation, is it best to just look at the code as opposed to the way prescribed in SEO Secrets (disable java and view the website)?
Thanks,
Shawn

SEO for Global Navigations
I did my first SEO audit from the book SEO Secrets by Danny Dover on my new website at http://melo4.melotec.com:4010/
In the book he says to disable Javascript and see if the global navigation still works. So when I did that the dropdown menus in my navigation don't show. I'm assuming this is a problem but when I check the cache text only version of the site, the dropdowns are in the text only version.
Are their any experienced SEO's out their who can weigh in on this issue?
Should I have my developer redo the navigation without any javascript?
Thanks,
Shawn

Absolute vs Relative URLs
What are the pros and cons of these two types of URLs and what type of weight does this hold. It doesn't seem to be a big issue in regards to ranking.
Any qualified clarity would help.

URL Length
What is the ideal length for an item's URL. Theirs a few different options.
B) www.mydomain.com/category-name/product-name
C) www.mydomain.com/category-name/sub-category-name/product-name
Please choose A, B, or C and explain why you made that decision.
Looking forward to the responses.

URL Length or Exact Breadcrumb Navigation URL? What's More Important
Basically my question is as follows, what's better:
www.romancingdiamonds.com/gemstone-rings/amethyst-rings/purple-amethyst-ring-14k-white-gold (this would fully match the breadcrumbs).
or www.romancingdiamonds.com/amethyst-rings/purple-amethyst-ring-14k-white-gold (cutting out the first level folder to keep the url shorter and the important keywords are closer to the root domain).
In this question http://www.seomoz.org/qa/discuss/37982/url-length-vs-url-keywords I was consulted to drop a folder in my url because it may be to long. That's why I'm hesitant to keep the bradcrumb structure the same.
To the best of your knowldege do you think it's best to drop a folder in the URL to keep it shorter and sweeter, or to have a longer URL and have it match the breadcrumb structure?
Please advise,
Shawn
