Can you regain any SERPs / link juice of links that have 404'd?
We have a client whose 301 redirects disappeared and have been gone for about 6 months now. We are going to be putting the 301 redirects back in place.
Will we be able to regain any of the previous SERPs or link juice from old links or is all lost?
Thanks in advance!

Deleting Website Section, Preserve Links with 301?
HI Mozers!
I have a client who is deleting their community section of their website because they have little activity. I know there are some inbound links going the the community section.
If I 301 redirect those links to the homepage instead, will that still preserve the SEO credit of the link -OR-is Google smart enough to know it's redirecting the the homepage and kill the link love?
My initial thoughts are that Google will see that it's being redirected to the homepage and not count the link anymore, but I'm just guessing. Any ideas? Anyone have any experience in something like this?

RE: Ranking in Multiple Geographic Locations
i'd agree.
i'm planning on creating a full landing page with geographic specific content.
So what i'm hearing is that it's gunna be hard to rank in organic search in multiple geographic locations, but it's more possible with local results (google places)?
I really don't want to have to get mailing addresses and phones from all over to rank for that. hummmph.
in an ideal world, i'd like to just rank organically... does anyone have a good strategy for this?

RE: Google Sitemap Submission Issues
also, the time it takes to get indexed depends... but usually 2-3 days. I tell clients up to a week so they sit tight.
you can go into the _**"Health" menu -> "fetch as googlebot" **_and then have it fetch your home page. It will run a quick diagnostic and then it will refresh the page and you can click "Index". Select to **index the page and all links. **
this will essentially give google a kick in the but to index that specific page and the links on the home page.
You should do this in addition to your sitemap.

humm, do you have some screen shots of the error? Also, what the link to check out?

Ranking in Multiple Geographic Locations
Hey Mozers,
We are a Joomla Web Design firm located in Milwaukee Wisconsin, however, we serve clients all over the midwest (and US) (chicago, madison, minneapolis, etc)
I'm curious what the best strategy for ranking in these new geographic areas?
Originally I was thinking of creating geographic specific landing pages for each area, however, i'm scared it will hurt us with Google's recent penguin and panda 3.5 updates. Also, won't i need to link to these landing pages from our main website to get them indexed?
What about creating mini websites on subdomains: (example) Chicago.SavvyPanda.com??

What are your ideas?

Do you have clients who have successfully started ranking in multiple geographic cities/areas?

RE: Rel=author, google plus, picture in Article page SERP
here's a great walk through. I just did it on our site and it worked well.
http://www.virante.com/blog/2012/01/08/how-to-show-your-author-photo-in-google-search-results/
just make sure to use Google's rich snippet tool to check your work before submitting it to Google's Microdata Submission

RE: Wrong Page Indexing in SERPS - Suggestions?
i'm cool with not having them indexed, i'm just worried that if I demote or block the /tag/ from being indexed we'll lose ranking for keywords.
Right now the /tag/ URL is ranking fairly well. ?

RE: Wrong Page Indexing in SERPS - Suggestions?
Hey Dan,
You caught on to the big problem we're correcting now. It's the way our tagging system works in our blog... it's causing all kinds of duplicate content errors. We're changing tagging systems to help this problem. So I plan on doing this first, but do you have any ideas how to correct the /tag/ URL that's being indexed instead of our "MIlwaukee SEO" services page?

Wrong Page Indexing in SERPS - Suggestions?
Hey Moz'ers!
I have a quick question. Our company (Savvy Panda) is working on ranking for the keyword: "Milwaukee SEO".
On our website, we have a page for "Milwaukee SEO" in our services section that's optimized for the keyword and we've been doing link building to this. However, when you search for "Milwaukee SEO" a different page is being displayed in the SERP's.
The page that's showing up in the SERP's is a category view of our blog of articles with the tag "Milwaukee SEO".
**Is there a way to alert google that the page showing up in the SERP's is not the most relevant and request a new URL to be indexed for that spot? **
I saw a webinar awhile back that showed something like that using google webmaster sitelinks denote tool.
I would hate to denote that URL and then loose any kind of indexing for the keyword.
Ideas, suggestions? -

RE: Changing Date Range in SEOMoz Campaign Reports?
thanks for the response Robert. Ideally what i'm looking for is to be able to plug in a date range... but if that's not possible, I'll have to do what you explained for each report.

Changing Date Range in SEOMoz Campaign Reports?
Hey,
I'm trying to create some old reports for a client and wanted to see how I can adjust the reports to a specific timeframe so I can view the statistics & changes between that time frame.
Is this possible?
Thanks!
