RE: Inbound links with anchor text about pills pointing to our URLs
If they haven't hacked the site, they may do. Check it in http://sitecheck.sucuri.net/scanner/ and tighten up all the security.
-
RE: What might cause SERPs differ from country to country ?
Create a dedicated sub folder for Sri Lanka /lk and geo target it to the country in Webmaster tools.
-
RE: Infographic/Link Bait idea. Unrelated to my site though, suggestions?
Or talk about the economic impact of deflation and its effect on the job market...
-
RE: 'Stealing' link juice from 404's
Definitely NOT worth the effort!! 301 redirects have lost a lot of power over the years. I've had clients in the past buy hundreds of sites with PR and redirect them all (not from my advice), and it still did not get them to where they wanted to be.

RE: How to Get Links as A Web Host
You don't have to do straight content either, get creative with linkbait, infographics and viral posts. These can also generate lots social signals which will help your campaign overall.
-
RE: Using an auto directory submission
You shouldn't be getting that many, so shouldn't be hard to track. Just go for a few with the most authority. I have a list here.
-
RE: How to handle link building to product pages that change regularly?
Yep that's a good idea to. You can see SEOMoz's ranking factors has an example, each year they keep the same url and update the survey.
-
RE: How to handle link building to product pages that change regularly?
Yep that's the best way forward, concentrate on building strong category pages and let the link juice flow down to new pages. You can also 301 expired pages back to the category page.

RE: Ask Rand a Question!
From recent Google algo updates, do you think a page level algoritmic penalty would effect overall domain trust?
-
RE: Which Wordpress Framework for Best SEO
Genesis is the other big framework but never used. I stick to Thesis, you don't really need any seo plugins for it anyway.
I also think people worry too much about their WP blogs being super optimized, just worry about the content and getting the content shared.

RE: Why there's a full-stop in the title of SEOMOZ's home page?
Run a quick test in PPC and see if it makes any difference to the CTR
-
RE: How many affiliate links is considered too many?
Have you blocked all the links from being crawled? e.g. /go/affurl - block /go/ in robots.txt ?
-
RE: Seomoz logging in
Same, I use chrome and always logged out. Asked tech help but said check cookie settings... but all seems ok
-
RE: Yahoo Directory VS other established sites
I agree with Jim, there are plenty of other directories with authority that are way cheaper. I have a list here if it helps! My List
-
RE: Do non-spammy authoritative press release sites exist?
Agreed, I would forget the SEO value of the link. I would pay more to your top regional PR firm to do a fantastic release that journos might actually pick up.

RE: Conversion Rate Optimisation - advice before seeking out a specialist
You could also try this tool > http://bit.ly/HRNQiF, it lets you create A/B tests without doing any major page design changes, comes with its own visual editor.

RE: Wordpress Canonical Problem
Also note how Matt has added no index, no follow to the paginated pages
-
RE: Outsourcing Link Building
Forget Pagerank... it means nothing. Look at SEOmoz's domain authority (DA) instead. If they can supply you 50 links on 50 different sites with a DA of over 50/100 each for $250.... then DM me their details!!
-
RE: Rankings in Google UK
You can set the seomoz rank tracking to only track from Google.co.uk if you need to.
-
RE: Wordpress Category Archives
I'd just link to the category archive, but make these categories really strong. On a couple of my blogs I've created static content at the top of the category pages, then built external links to them to rank them.
-
RE: Do you trust SEOMoz with your Google Analytics data?
Thanks Rand, that's put my mind a little more at ease - I just couldn't find any information about confidentiality.
-
Do you trust SEOMoz with your Google Analytics data?
This data is so so valuable...
-
RE: Can bad links be removed from a website
You need to contact the sites directly or tell the SEO Company to do it. Its much harder undoing low quality links than building them!!
-
RE: Geotargeting a new domain without impacting traffic to existing domain
Sounds like it could get messy to me. As google always crawls from the US they will be redirected to the .us site, while the rest of the world will not... could be seen as cloaking if not done properly.
I'd always go with subfolders and have .com for the US then .com/uk/ etc. see Apple as a good example.
-
RE: PR of homepage when other pages have more lniks
Its not just from backlinks. I've got blogs where the homepage is PR1 but posts are PR3, due to social signals and shares of the post. This seems to be happening more recently.
-
RE: Google Ranking Dropped
Yep new sites can do that, especially with exact match domains (EMDs), had exactly the same myself this week with one of my hosting affiliate sites.
Don't worry about it, just get your head down and build some quality links
-
RE: Tools that show me what keywords my competitors are using
You could use Xenu or Screaming Frog to pull out all their page meta titles (assuming they are optimized for keywords).
To find the keywords they are really going for, use something like MajesticSEOs frash crawl index to see the top pages they are building links to... the anchor text used will be the give away.
-
RE: Is canonical link enough?
You are producing duplicate content on the monthly pages e.g.
http://www.nuxeo.com/en/about/events/apr2012training-boston
http://www.nuxeo.com/en/about/events/jan2012training-boston
Cut and paste a chunk of the page text into the Google search box, you will then see all the duplicates being indexed by Google.
-
RE: Directory Indexed in Google, that I dont want, How to remove?
That will definitely work, it will just take a few weeks for Google to re-crawl the site and remove these urls from their index. Sit back and relax... the job is done!
-
RE: Why are we not ranking? We have done all we can think of. Can you help?
You need to build some anchor text links with 'office refurbishment' in, OSE is not showing any.
-
RE: SEO Moz Page authority and Domain authority do not correllate wih SERPS
Google has 200+ ranking signals, it would depend on the niche in my opinion.
-
RE: What is your opinion about: SEO SearchTerms Tagging 2 (WP plugin)
Sounds crap, just do it manually. There is no shortcut for good onsite SEO.
-
RE: Google plus
They are saying they will show results from other places but it seems to be quite rare from what I have seen, they are just doing a big G+ push.
-
RE: How many nofollow links should we build to have a natural link profile
I like around 20%, but probably best look at the niche average. Or look at the most natural link profile in that niche.
-
RE: What is the optimal link profile?
A good idea is to get the link profiles of all your competitors on page 1. Then break all their links down by type, you will then get a good idea of what it takes to rank in that niche. If you aren't hot on excel, you could try cognitiveseo - they give this type of link profile breakdown... very useful
-
RE: One Domain or Four?
A massive part of SEO if getting domain authority, this is what you would split by having different sites...everything would get diluted.
-
RE: Outsourcing social media optimization
Most people don't understand social media, even people employed as social media managers!! If you are serious about social you would do well to outsource to someone who knows their s*#£$.
-
RE: Link from Dr. Oz web site not being seen, what are we doing wrong?
The head section of this page has:
NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOINDEX">
Which is why this page is not indexed by Google too.
-
RE: How to get SEO juice from a widget iframe?
Yer just code it so a html link sites outsite
-
RE: Infographic: how to organize and make it pretty
I'd just get an infographic designer to do, otherwise it will turn out crap. PM me if you need one...
-
RE: Tracking Links Tool
You could also look at cognitiveSEO.
I wouldn't worry about them because they will be impossible to undo.
