Do you mean like this
Keyword > Matches Regular Expression > logo design india, logodesign
Nope. it doesn't work. Now it shows zero visits.
I would like to see visits for only and only the following 2 keywords using advanced segment in GA.
logo design india and logodesign
Here's how i set up the Advancned Segment -
Keyword > Matches Regular Expression > logo design india|logodesign
The problem is that advanced segment report is also displaying visits for keyword thelogodesigns.
Have i set it up correctly ?
Thanks Ryan. I am learning new things not only from SEOmoz, but also from you too
The best part is that your answers are always explanatory.
Do search engines Read RoR sitemaps ? Are they necessary ? Isn't xml sitemap enough.
Very insightful answer Ryan.
Is there any official word from Google regarding this. ( That they reward new sites for a short period ).
So, you mean to say that after a short period ( what is short period 1 month, 3 months, few weeks ), the sites are pushed down and the initial advantage is lost.
I know these are basics of wordpress. Now, i need to read some articles to enlighten me.
I appreciate your help. Thanks.
Thanks Yannick.
How do i upload the file to root folder. Where can i find wp-config.php file. A few step by step explanation will be of much help.
I want to redirect non www to www in blog hosted by wordpress. Where can i find .htaccess file ? Shall i have to create a new one ? If yes, where should i upload it ?
Thanks
SEO best practices says that one should put blog in a subfolder. Like
www.example,com/blog
In the above case, should we say that the blog is in folder or subfolder. Actually, i have been unsure about this folder vs subfolder thing. Some examples of this would be appreciated.
What is the example of a blog in a subdomain ?
Thanks
Thanks a lot Martijn for your reply and also for the wonderful link.
Does it mean that results are more personalized for signed in users than those for non signed in users.
"As search becomes an increasingly customized experience, particularly for signed in users"
What does this imply ?
Does it mean that search is more customized for signed in users than those for non signed in users ?
Thanks Sha Menz,
Are there other ways that enables Google to recognize that main site and blog are by the same person.
If i attempt to split the blog and main site, how can Google recognize they are both owned by the same person.
Thanks a lot.
The results shows like this -
Links :56 Queues : 0
54 2
What does it mean ?
I checked it for logopie.com
This site does not seem to have so many links.
I have installed the chrome extension "Check my links". Now how do i run this extension to check links. Which button should i click on ?
Thanks a lot for your patience ! I know this is a very simple question.
Does the first anchor text link rule ( the first link is given weight ) applies to links in the body of the content only.
If there are links in the drop down menu, and in the body of the content, does the above rule applies to links in the drop down menu.
Thanks for technical answer.
So, the anchor text "cat" will have value, as far as ranking for destination URL is concerned.
"Only the 1st URL will count"
Do you mean only the first link will count ?
Will Google follow other links ?
Thanks John.
"You should have an instinct for which of these will convert best.".
I was also thinking along those lines, when decided to ask the question. This to me, seems the best approach.
I had read a post in SEOmoz about keywords. According to it, The best keywords are
1. High Volume (many searches/month)
2. Low Competition
3. High Value (large % of visitors convert)
My question is how can i find about 2nd and 3rd point. High search volume is shown in many Tools including Google adwords, but how can we be sure to find keywords that are low in competition and at the same time high value.
Hello Stefan,
I read with interest your post and would like you to please clarify -
"Get completely different hosts for the other domains"
Do you mean completely different domains for your 7 websites. If yes, why so ?
"A regex expression would need to be written to map the old urls to the new ones" I was interested in knowing about this. Thats why i asked the question.
Thanks. What would be the regex expression if i were ro redirect 25 pages to new site, without changing the extension and the site is on Apache server. Will regex expression take care of redirecting to multiple pages ( 25 in this case )
Hi Ryan,
"Option 3 - If your URL structure is changing, then each page from the old site would need to be 301 redirected to the new URL."
Supposing there are 25 pages in the old site, then shall we have to mention each page in .htaccess file for redirection.
Thanks.
Does different C-Classes means sites having different C class IP address ?
Also, when you say "unique C-Block linking to a page" what does it imply ?
What factors contribute towards the authority of a page ?
No. of links to a page ?
Does Google ignores the word an ? A query for "seo" and "an seo" produces different results.
Thanks Olaf.
So, does it mean that sites hosted on same C class IP belong to one owner ?
If two websites are on the same c class IP address, what does it mean ?
Does two websites belong to the same company ?
Yes, you are right that a simple Google search will be enough.
Don't you think that inurl is not required.
Thanks Aran.
Actually, the above question was asked in an SEO interview to one of my friends. Is there any operator to find the competition .
"Most business map their IP address/Hostname"
What does above statement imply ?
Is there any operator to find the level of competition for a particular keyword in Google ?
Is intitle:keyword a fair indicator ?
How can we 301 the inbound links to our site, if the links are from other sites ? Supposing, the webmaster has placed our link oh his site. Should we ask the webmaster of the site to do this as he has the ftp details only.
Suppose a site has two pages ( Page A ) and Page B. Both of them have pagerank, but duplicate content.
The page A is ranked for keyword "seo india" and page B is ranked for keyword "seo services".
If i implement canonical tag on page B, does
1. The pagerank of page B will be transfered to Page A ?
2. Does the site A now ranks for keyword "seo servicies " ( for which Page B was ranking earlier )
Thanks a lot for your reply and also for a very useful link.
If a visitor comes from a particular city, does it means that IP address of the user searching in that city is taken into account
Our company is based in Noida, and in GA, i can see few visits from New Delhi. Both these cities are nearby. ( In India )
Our hosting is in US.
When a visitor comes to site, does visit is based on IP address of the user's system ?
Our company has taken hosting from Noida. Does that means that visits from New Delhi are Genuine and NOT from our company ?
My apologies, if i am not clear...
Shall i upload the .htaccess file after redirect ?
Thanks Dan. Is the following code goes into .htacess file exactly like mentioned by you ? Redirect 301 /newsletter2109/ http://www.example.com/ ?utm_source=newsletter1&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=newletter2109
Thanks Dan. Is the following code goes into .htacess file exactly like mentioned by you ? Redirect 301 /newsletter2109/ http://www.example.com/ ?utm_source=newsletter1&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=newletter2109
I generated the following URL to track visits from newsletter.
http://www.example.com/ ?utm_source=newsletter1&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=newletter2109
Do i have to use this link in our email ?
My question is it looks ugly. How do i shorten this ? Using bit.ly ?
But isn't it true that URL shortening services such as bitly, as some can increase the likelihood of email being marked as spam
So, does it mean that campaign will be expired after 6 months and we won't be able to track the campaign.
