RE: Should I get comment removed?
No, it didn't. My rankings have been steady increasing these last 2 months from various things I'm doing to improve my SEO, but I didn't want to risk getting dinged for it.

Should I get comment removed?
I left a comment on a site's blog post maybe 2 months or so ago. Yes, that blog has DoFollow comments on. It turns out that site uses one of those sidebar featured comment widgets, and has a crazy amount of duplicate pages due to an unruly wordpress install, pagination and attachments indexed.
Well, I checked my google analytics recently and it shows that I'm getting 652 links from that site. Ahh.. Should I ask the blogger to remove my comment? Or should I let it go, and wait until google reindexes that site? My links don't technically show on all those pages anymore because since that time, the blogger has gotten more comments that are now featured instead of mine.

DA vs PA when building links
When building links to your site from other sites, what is more important or what weights more heavily?
Say a site has a DA of 20 and PA of 34 for that page I want a link from. Say another site has the revese, a DA of 34 and a PA of 20. All things being equal, which site's link to me would be better?
The one with a higher DA or the one with a higher PA for the on the specific page I would get a link?

RE: Competitor outranking me on google with their yelp, facebook and youtube pages
Hi Spencer. That article is great and explains this issue perfectly. so Barnacle SEO, huh?
Yeah, I do see that his domain authority is larger as is his likes/yelp reviews. I'm in my second year. The competitor i believe is in the 15th or so.
At this point, I'm going to optimize my social media profiles and link them to my site.
Ideally this will help balance that first page more. My primary effort will be to move to the first spot on the page.
Thank a bunch!

RE: Competitor outranking me on google with their yelp, facebook and youtube pages
Ultimately, this might be what I need to do. Get a series of my own links on the first page, as opposed to only my homepage. I do have some youtube videos, and by properly key wording them, they have climbed the ranks, but honestly, I don't want them to be people's first contact with me. I think its so much more productive to have links to my site.
Now they you mention it, it might just be that the competitor's social media profiles are ranking high due to their size. Their yelp has 8 reviews and fb page over 7400+ likes.

RE: Competitor outranking me on google with their yelp, facebook and youtube pages
Thanks Darren. Over the last few months, I've done alot of that and I've managed to climb to first page fairly quickly. I'm currently on first page and ranking higher than my competitor's website. What gets me is that all their social media is also ranking extremely high. I would imagine google giving priority to actual websites, not to a bunch of social media profiles. I don't wish to rank for my own social media profiles particularly, as I want google traffic to point towards my site (and not my youtube account).

RE: Linking between properties
The site all follow good practices, so I don't foresee an issue and those are not the only backlinks they have. Thanks guys!

Competitor outranking me on google with their yelp, facebook and youtube pages
I'm working to rank for a local search term (my city wedding photographers). I'm frustrated that my competitor is outranking me not with their website (they are no. #9 and I'm #6) but with their Yelp account (#1) Facebook Account (#5) and Youtube account (#7 - not outranking me, but right below me).
I'm going to continue working on my SEO to hopefully get higher up, but even then, they are basically dominating page 1 with their links. It gets worse on page 2. They are showing up 5 times for youtube/vimeo videos, and 1 time with a spammy landing page with no images, full of keyword anchored links to their main site.
What gives? Since when are social media profiles outranking local sites on google organic searches?
Could it be that our keyword is just so low competition that google has allowed all this stuff to rank so highly?

RE: Adding web designer credits to properties I create
Reason is that there is a real, legitimate value as a developer to have my credit there for users that see the site and would like inquire about having design a similar site. I'm just looking for a way though that this won't affect my own site negatively.
I'm thinking either 1. Do a NoFollow link directly to the site, or 2. Point the link to an internal page on the client site, and from there point to my own site.

How often the the domain authority checker update?
How often does the domain authority checker update? I added a lot of backlinks over the last month or so, but I don't see any of them through the checker.

RE: How often the the domain authority checker update?
Wow, it looks like it just changed! I checked it early today and there was no update. I checked it now just in case, and saw that my domain authority jumped up 7 points and my page authority 7 points as well. Doing the happy dance!!

RE: How often the the domain authority checker update?
Ok. Thanks. I checked now and it hasn't updated my stats since last month, so maybe I need to wait until the next update to see results?
Looks like your connection to Moz was lost, please wait while we try to reconnect.
