Yes the site would be if i gave the correct url its www.specialistpaintsonline.co.uk
even over a year not much has changed in terms of the serps, its quite upsetting as were running at a loss since then.
Thank you, and this rel canonical url is just a re-divert to the home page. web designers have messed up here. thank you for clarification on my thoughts
Is it possible to confirm this to me please?
My understanding of the rel canonical tag was to tell google of duplicate content? so for instance
product 1
www.ourdomain.co.uk/products/category/subcategory/theproduct1
Product 1a
www.ourdomain.co.uk/products/category/subcategory/theproduct1a same content just a different colour would be rel canonical'd to Product 1 as thats the main product, is my understanding correct?
Now here is what I have discovered.
www.ourdomain.co.uk/products/category/subcategory/theproduct1 has a rel canonical tag that reverts back to
www.ourdomain.co.uk/products/ which isn't optimized as such its just a generic catalog page.
This is inccorect and google will dismiss the actial product and revert to the generic catalog page?
any help would be great.
As the title really, I run www.specialistpaintsonline.co.uk and 6 months ago when I first got it it had bad links which google had put a penalty against it so losts it value.
However the penalty was lift in Sept, the site corresponds to all guidelines and seo work has been done and constantly monitored.
the issue I have is sales and visits have not gone up, we are failing fast and running on 2 or 3 sales a month isn't enough to cover any sort of cost let alone wages.
hence my question can the cms have anything to do with it?
Im at a loss and go grey any help or advice would be great.
thanks in advance.
We have noticed an abundance of requests for some free colour cards on our website, however these are coming from a russian freebie website. how can i block this website, so the link from that forum doesn't work?
I can vouch for www.layershift.com UK based server, dedicated, managed vps etc, and support that is fast and very helpful. I personal use them on their managed vps service and cannot recall any down time other than occasional system restarts for updates.
Last week we decided to run a facebook campaign with a small offer, any way cut a long story short.
www.specialistsonlinepaints.co.uk was dropped by google when the penguin update took place in 2012, however it has been re included by google but nothing really returned in terms of search results.
so our facebook campaign reached over 3k of people according to the stats but no one purchased anything or even clicked to visit the website. am I missing something in terms on onpage, black listing etc?
Im at a loss at the minute.
I understand they are informative pieces or artwork however, Im really puzzled where they get used? on the website, facebook, etc?
Hello, sure i kind of understand whats happening etc, but to be fair i found Enter website fairly small over on the left of the screen, may be I am looking too deep into it. http://www.hullfc.com/smallsplash.aspx?a=1763
cheers

Just recently I have noticed a ever increasing number of landing pages on websites, the ones I have come across have been in the sports industry like rugby/football and their landing pages are sparse but offering the social avenues on a plate.
are Landing pages making their way back in the seo industry?
thank you, my main concern still lays with the hover link that opens to reveal information. i know its crawable and readable by the search engines but my biggest fear is its still hiding away till its hover.
the reason behind this was to keep the home page clean and un cluttered and not to deceive, but Im hoping its fine to to use.
Can any one give me a quick site review, recently started work for the company on the seo, just want to asking if I am missing anything that may hinder SEO and SERPs etc www.teamac.co.uk
thank you, I'm not saying they couldn't be changed it would just cause a lot of stress for our labs and tech guys who create these and work by the number. were as having a naming structure things would become a mess and everything up in the air.
I will look into the back end keywords, authors, company name which may give them some sort of impact from what I read on the link above.
Hello and good morning.
I work for a paint manufacturing company in the UK on their seo campaigns across a couple of websites, this is my question. as paint and chemicals require data and tech sheets by law, available to be downloadable for said product, should these be included in the sitemap, we auto generate our sitemaps which they include these files, with low priorities and never change in terms of name etc.
they basically have a name of say 092847.pdf for example which cannot be changed, but from an seo view this doesn't mean a thing? so theres my question should they be included and would they carry any value?
Thank you, I understand what you are saying, currently the site will be undergoing a revamp etc and I juust wanted to tidy it up somewhat to may engage the customer more towards our products rather than a big lump of text.
Definateley going to consider a shorter more keyword rich paragraph
thanks for your help
Quick question I manage the seo campaigns for the company I work for however i need some opinions on www.teamac.co.uk I have used jquery to control a on hover div which in returns feeds more information. woudl this be seen as a problem to Google, im not trying to hide things just want to keep the homepage tidy.
any help would be appreciated
