It seems that everyone is talking about this at the moment.

Google would appear to have got super addicted to providing fresh content, that it is ranking the newer sites higher than those with most authority. Why? I have no idea. Everyone is just taking the black hat route of making more sites, newer sites that can cheat the system for now, until Google packs up it's ideas and changes the algo.

I mean look at what has happened this year with updates, everyday is an update. I think we need to hold tight for the storm to settle and wait for everything to stabilise. Google can't keep this up for long, the SERPs change everyday!

Thank you for your response, it solidifys what I have been thinking for the last few months about removing the keyword optimisation on site.

Yes, I do get a lot of work from those pages, and they do seem to convert fairly well. I guess I need to change the title of the website and the copy for human eyes, not google's.

The only fear there is that I drop out of rankings. I guess that is the price to pay if you want to play by the rules!

With regards to the duplicate pages, what should I do then, everyone in my niche is doing it, shall I get rid of them all and bite the bullet!?

This is now popping up in Moz after using this for over 6 months.
It is saying this is now duplicate site content.

What do we think? Is this a bad strategy, it works well on the SERPS but could be damaging the root domain page ranking? I guess this is a little shady.

I believe that is someone performing some counter SEO as I definitely didn't make those!

Isn't is harmful using the disavow tool? 
Should I just disavow all spammy link below a certain PA/DA?

I really cannot understand why I am no longer rank 1 on SERPs?

My link data shows great weight in comparison to competitors, my on page SEO is good, nice and diverse on the alt text. I know there are a lot of factors that effect SERPs but I believe I have done well but am still not ranking?

Have I missed something?
I really appreciate any thoughts and ideas.

So 3 weeks in Penguin 2.0 and after an initial drop in rankings (4-5 places on top keywords from rank 1), I have seen a small climb in rankings by a couple places but have seen a huge jump in my DA, PA and Domain trust/rank... That FAR surpasses any other magicians website. However I am ranking below some really really poorly rated sites. I am getting a PA of 51 which is really high for the industry (maybe the highest).

If this is the case, why am I not number one for every keyword in my demographic? 
I know this is asked a lot but how reliable are Moz stats, I know no one can really know how Google rank sites on SERPS but if Moz is the best shouldn't it be kinda close?

Any thoughts on how accurate Moz rank is and also if it can be used as some indication of the SEO power behind a website.

When you spent the last year climbing from position 4 to 1 for 4-5 keywords, it's a bit of a pain to be back where you started. I will do just that!

I was rank 1 for magician london, magician in london, magicians in london and now am ranking around 3-4

I need to recover fast, anyone have any idea how to do this, what strategy to employ.

It would be much appreciated as I have never been hit by an update so not sure on how to recover from one.
