Hi Ryan,
You have been a great help and inspiration to me here at Seomoz. Thank you for all the valuable answers and insights that you provide.
Is it okay if I ask the great people here at Seomoz to evaluate my website so that I may do the necessary changes to recover from google panda or site penalty?
Thanks in advance...
My site have significantly went down in google ranking today. Is there a recent update with regards to google panda?

Hi Guys,
Is there something that I need to do to make my blog posts appear in the Blogs Section of Google Trends?
I've noticed that there are blogs whose latest posts appear on the Blog section of Google Trends and would also like my blog to appear there if possible.
Thanks in advance...
Hi Zsolt,
Unfortunately, the scrapers are smart enough to remove the links in the content that they copy. I don't know how they do it but even though my post has links and the h1 title is also a link, the are able to strip the url off.
Hi Zsolt,
What might be the best solution to prevent the scrapers from stealing my content? Some examples of scrapers of my site are
and many more... I have tried blocking these sites in htaccess using both ip and domain name by the following code format:
order allow,deny
deny from 208.43.239.80
deny from hownews.info
But though such code is already in the htaccess, they can still scrape my content. I know they are getting it from my RSS feed because when I put some code to delay my RSS Feed, they are not able to get my latest posts.
I hope you can help me find out on how to put a stop on this scrapers as they are really hurting my rankings. They even rank higher than my site which is the source of the original content.
Thanks in advance....
Hi Alan,
I think it's now clear to me that they should be rewritten. Thanks for pointing me to the right direction.
I have a classified site and in my .htaccess I have these rewrite rules by default
RewriteRule ^/?(new)/(1_day)/([0-9]+)/([^./\"'?#]+).html$ index.php?a=11&b=$3&c=65&d=4 [L] ##category newest 1day
RewriteRule ^/?(new)/(1_week)/([0-9]+)/([^./\"'?#]+).html$ index.php?a=11&b=$3&c=65&d=1 [L] ##category newest 1week
RewriteRule ^/?(new)/(2_weeks)/([0-9]+)/([^./\"'?#]+).html$ index.php?a=11&b=$3&c=65&d=2 [L] ##category newest 2weeks
RewriteRule ^/?(new)/(3_weeks)/([0-9]+)/([^./\"'?#]+).html$ index.php?a=11&b=$3&c=65&d=3 [L] ##category newest 3weeks
RewriteRule ^/?(new)/(1_day)/([0-9]+)/([^./\"'?#]+)/([0-9]+).html$ index.php?a=11&b=$3&c=65&d=4&page=$5 [L] ##category newest 1day pages
RewriteRule ^/?(new)/(1_week)/([0-9]+)/([^./\"'?#]+)/([0-9]+).html$ index.php?a=11&b=$3&c=65&d=1&page=$5 [L] ##category newest 1week pages
RewriteRule ^/?(new)/(2_weeks)/([0-9]+)/([^./\"'?#]+)/([0-9]+).html$ index.php?a=11&b=$3&c=65&d=2&page=$5 [L] ##category newest 2weeks pages
RewriteRule ^/?(new)/(3_weeks)/([0-9]+)/([^./\"'?#]+)/([0-9]+).html$ index.php?a=11&b=$3&c=65&d=3&page=$5 [L] ##category newest 3weeks pages
unfortunately, these rules could not handle all URLs of the same format with different variables like the following below
http://www.mysite.com/index.php?a=11&b=15&d=3&c=1
http://www.mysite.com/index.php?a=11&b=15&d=3&c=2
http://www.mysite.com/index.php?a=11&b=16&c=5&d=1
http://www.mysite.com/index.php?a=11&b=16&c=5&d=1&page=2
http://www.mysite.com/index.php?a=11&c=5&d=1&b=230
Any idea on how I can solve this problem to avoid duplicate content?
Thanks in advance...
Hi guys,
I have these types of URLs with the format below that are seen as duplicate contents
http://www.mysite.com/index.php?a=11&b=15&d=3&c=1
I wanted to permanently redirect them to my homepage. I am thinking if this is possible in .htaccess using rewrite conditions?
Thanks in advance...
Hi,
There are some websites that keeps on scraping my content. I have blocked them already from accessing my website using .htaccess but they still get my content via RSS feed.
I have tried delaying the RSS feed but I think this affected google rankings. My question is, is there a way to change the URL of my RSS Feed?
From: http://www.mysite.com/feed to http://www.mysite.com/feed2
Hi Simon,
The errors are 404 (Not found). Is it wise to 301 redirect them to the home page? as there are no suitable page for them.
Hi Allan, Yes I am referring to thin content and some that are duplicate.
Thanks for the advice, will try removing those in WMT.
Hi Guys,
To give way to the implementation of Google Panda, I have deleted some of my wordpress blog posts with low quality content.
Now, I am seeing some errors in my Webmasters Tools. What needs to be done so that these errors will be fixed?
Thanks....
Thanks Alan,
That solved my problem...
Hi Alan,
After disallowing the directory in robots.txt, Rogerbot still includes the non-existing URLs. Here is a sample URL that is being reported by Rogerbot
www.lugaluda.com/2009/08/05/chase-online-banking-chase-checking-bonus/
Thanks Alan, I really appreciate your help. Gave me an idea since all the old URLs are coming from a virtual 2009 directory, I tried to add a disallow statement for that directory in the robots.txt section. Hopefully this will help solve the problem.
I will let you know the results after rogerbot finishes recrawling my site...
Thanks Dude....
How will I know if they still exists on my site? If I tried to access the specific URLs, they are no longer active.
Hi,
In the early days of my blog, I used permalinks with the following format:
http://www.mysitesamp.com/2009/02/04/heidi-cortez-photo-shoot/
I then decided to change this format using .htaccess to this format:
http://www.mysitesamp.com//heidi-cortez-photo-shoot/
My question is, why do rogerbot still crawls my old URL format since these urls' no longer exists in my website or blog.
Hi Yannick,
Yes I have access to .htaccess
Here are some sample format of the category feeds:
http://www.mysite.com/category/lifestyle/feed
http://www.mysite.com/category/off-beat/feed
but Google webmaster tools report the broken feeds as
http://www.mysite.com/lifestyle/feed
http://www.mysite.com/off-beat/feed
not sure why it removed the "category" in the url.
Thanks in advance...
Hi Guys,
I've been doing much cleaning on my blog lately and deleted numerous categories including their posts with low quality content.
After deleting the categories, Google Webmaster Tools is reporting some 404 errors about the RSS Feeds for the deleted categories.
I've created a 404.php file inside my theme and placed the following code
header("HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently");
header("Location: http://www.mysite.com/My404Page/", true, 301);
exit();
?>
this have catched all 404 errors and redirected them to the specific page. Unfortunately, it could not catch the inactive feed urls. Is there a way to do this so that all inactive feeds will be redirected to my 404 page?
Thanks in advance....
Hi Guys,
Is there a way in Wordpress to transfer or redirect a category and all posts under it into a sub-domain?
