These would be pages. For example. A hot keyword in our industry is "SG1". We want to create a page that tells about SG1, why it is needed, what we can do to help, applications for it, etc.

Raising a page in search engines - My plan - Thoughts...
I am trying to put forward a strategy for my company on how to create content, then follow it up with link building and social posts in hope to build the page rank in search engines like Google.
Can you please take a look at this and let me know your thoughts? I have read the MOZ help documentation about search and want to see what you guys think. This is not a local search, we are a national website selling products throughout multiple offices.
So we are trying to rank for certain keywords. This is what we have come up with. Any help/opinions would be greatly appreciated!
Step 1: Create a page around the keyword that we want to rank for. The page must be well written, contain content which is engaging and may be hard to get this content elsewhere. The page may contain a video with further information on the topic. Of course the correct tags must be present (H1), page titles, etc.
Step 2: Once the page is created it is time to start getting people to see the page. This is where we start with social media. Making a post about the page and getting people to see it. (Facebook, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Twitter, etc.)
Step 3: Press release. When sending out press releases on topics related to the page, we can link to the page in the release.
Step 4: Articles on industry websites. Try to get industry websites to write an article on a certain topic that we specialize in. If they can link to the page we created in the article, it would help. (Sites with high page ranks and .edu websites are extra powerful.)
Thanks for reading.

Download help
I want to download the keyword ranking reports so I can look at them in excel. I do see the PDF option which shows me the list of 100 keywords and what number I am currently ranking for. I want to see that but in an excel form. When I click the "new rankings csv" it downloads a sheet with over 1200 rows in it.
Basically I want to see the keyword report that the PDF shows (the 100 keywords and the current rank) in an excel format.
Am I missing that?

Is my plan the right plan? - What do you suggest/do?
When trying to rank a page high for a certain keyword, I usually go by the following plan.
1. Focus on on-Page SEO. Title tags, webpage URL, unique quality content. In other words, make the page the best you can for the user using the keyword you want to rank for.
2. Promote the page via social media.
3. Try to link build to the page. Contact high-quality sites and have them try to link to your page.
I was wondering if I am missing any steps, or do you use other methods when trying to rank for a certain keyword?

A question on keywords that rank 51+
Good afternoon everyone. I wanted to pose a question to the group about keywords and the "on-page optimization - grade a page tool."
I have a list of keywords that I am trying to rank for. Some of them are not ranked in the top 50, so on the keyword ranking tool it gives you the 51+ message in the rank column. For the items that are ranked I can try to improve them by looking at grade a page and typing in the URL and keyword. It will then give me a score and suggestions on how to improve it.
With that being said, is there an easy way to find out which pages I should be optimizing those keywords which rank at 51+ for, besides typing the keywords in Google and seeing what URL it associates with the specific keyword?
I hope the question above is clear.

RE: Keyword ranking stuck in neutral... Suggestions needed
Hi guys,
Thanks so much for your input. The strange thing is that we are doing so many of those things you have already mentioned.
I guess I am just confused as to where to go next to show increases for words that we aren't ranking for but want to rank for AND to raise words that we currently rank for. (To my company it is more important to rank for the other keywords at this point)
- We use social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus, YouTube) - we make one post a day so we aren't spamming it.
- The keywords are within the recommendation standards on the website.
- We have a huge presence in our industry.
I guess I am just looking for other suggestions on how to get those other keywords up.

RE: Keyword ranking stuck in neutral... Suggestions needed
Hi everyone, thanks for some quick answers. (Two follow up questions below)
Ryan - Thanks for the suggestions on how to present the data in a better way!
Monica - Basically for off page SEO, it just consists of press releases and articles on industry news sites. We haven't really targetted specific keywords for off page SEO. What I mean by that is if an article appears on another website for power tools we dont have them linked to the power tools section of our website, just our index page.
We do consistently have new links to our site but not to sections about those keywords.
I am not sure what you mean by our NAP being up to date... Can you explain a bit further?
Fuel Interactive - Yes, I have done research and the keywords do pertain to the company. Our company has various different business sections, power tools, machine tools, electronics, so there is a LOT to come up for. Each section has a few different managers and they provide me with a list of important words.
-- I have two follow up questions:
1. In your opinion, what would be the best way to go about moving the keywords that are unranked (past page 5) up - if the on-page SEO looks good?
2. For those keywords ranked in the top 5 pages, would using social media to point to specific pages and articles on other sites pointing to the pages be the best way?

Keyword ranking stuck in neutral... Suggestions needed
Hi everyone. I wanted to make a post in hopes of getting some opinions on my next course of action when it comes to SEO.
I have worked for my current company for 3 years and raised their keyword ranking from 39% to 55% (according to MOZ's keyword tracker). I did this mostly through improving on-page SEO for each keyword. I think the on-page SEO is as good as it can get?
Just so you guys know there are 101 keywords they want to rank for nationally. We currently rank for 56.
My current company has really starting to ask me more about the percentage we are at and they of course want it to grow (or show consistent growth) as time passes. Since May 2014 it seems to have fluctuated each week from 50% to 58%.
Some other info:
- We are well known in our industry
- We post on social media almost every day
- We are at event trade shows
- We are a global company
- We have tons of ads in industry magazines etc.
- We have industry news sites write about us and link to us
- We are consistent with press releases (a few a month)
With that being said, where should I go from here to get those number to grow? As I mentioned, my company is starting to look at these numbers more.

Keyword Ranking Question - Paid Ads?
Hi everyone.
I have a question about the Keyword Ranking tool. I am currently tracking 93 keywords.
My question is, does the ranking count just organic rankings or does it count if my company is spending money on a google ad? So for instance, if all paid ads were stopped on Google, the current keywords we rank for according to the MOZ tool shouldn't change, right?
Thanks.

RE: Site traffic vs other sites
Hi Richard, thanks for your answer.
We do not sell products. We are a news website and wanted to see what the big guys of our industry get in terms of traffic a month. We wanted to see these numbers so that we can benchmark where we are and set goals to catch up to them in terms of traffic.

Site traffic vs other sites
I have a quick question.
Does Moz have a tool I can use to see how much traffic my site gets a month versus some competition?
I know Alexa has this but you have to create an account. I am just wondering if Moz has one and I am missing it.

Ranked page is not desired page
I have a question on a problem I am currently faced with. There is a certain keyword that my employer wants to rank for. The good news is that sometimes it does rank in the top 5 pages of Google. (It drops in and out) The bad news is that it is going to a page that we need to keep, but not the ideal place we want people who are looking for that keyword to go to.
I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this type of situation and what tactic they used to get people to the better page.

RE: Switching CMS and want to redirect links
Hi Thomas,
Thanks for the answer. I would have LOVED to have had the site built on wordpress. I have used it a ton in the past and quite honestly I am new to Joomla.
I took the programmers word, I have worked with him for some years now. He said that there are things on my current site that really couldn't be done in wordpress without making changes to the core system....
Hopefully this will work out, if not I would not hesitate to move to wordpress.

RE: Switching CMS and want to redirect links
Hi Jesse,
Honestly I wanted to use wordpress just because it is so easy to manage etc. The programmer I work with suggested Joomla. The reason was that I have so many customized things, it would be easier to acheive with extensions rather than the wordpress CMS. I wish I knew more but I can tell you that my site has a lot of modules that are custom and I haven't really seen other sites with the same mods.

Switching CMS and want to redirect links
Hi guys,
I have a site that I run which has been around for a little while. It is actually in phpnuke, it also has a phpbb forum.. The site is so customized that I need to move it to something newer. So I am moving it to Joomla. I created a new domain just to get the joomla site created so I can move it to the main domain.
My question is this. How should I go about switching from phpnuke to joomla without losing the links that are going to my site. Also, where can I find the links that are pointing to my site?
Thanks for looking.
