I suppose you could also try creating a page that had links to all of the pages you want to noindex, then from Search Console use the Fetch as Google tool to fetch that page and choose the "Crawl this URL and its direct links" option to help Google see the noindex meta tags faster.

RE: How best to deindex tens of thousands of pages?
You could add meta robots noindex to those pages and wait for Google to crawl them again and possibly remove them from the index. You can't simply remove them all from the index in one go.

RE: Will massive "sculpting" make a difference?
Noindex + follow on your low quality pages will just allow your crawl budget to potentially be better spent on the content that you want Google to crawl and index. It's not going to boost the value of pages that are already indexed.
So if you have quality pages and product pages that Google isn't seeing due to wasted crawl budget and low quality pages, then noindexing them might be a strategy to consider. I'd also make sure the quality of the pages you want to have indexed is unique and of high quality.

RE: Will massive "sculpting" make a difference?
Great answer. EGOL is correct in that you need to consider the performance of the pages you're considering no-indexing.
If this is a popular blog, it seems a reasonable assumption is that the content quality is good. Generally speaking, you don't want to noindex quality content that's driving traffic to your site.
I suspect a noindex strategy on 99% of content for a popular blog is a bad one. But as EGOL pointed out, it's impossible to say for sure without fully understanding your website and its metrics.

RE: Does this type of link pass juice?
Definitely. Thanks for the response!

RE: Does this type of link pass juice?
Thanks Jake. It is indeed followed. It looks like they 302, but apparently 302 does pass value, contrary to what Moz says.

Does this type of link pass juice?
I have a backlink that looks like this:
https://theirsite.com/go/?t=https%3A//www.mysite.com
Will that pass link juice?

RE: Error code 804
"While it's something that we'd love to be able to accommodate for the future, we don't yet have the resources to be able to make those changes."
2 paragraphs later...
"The good news is that a recent update has been made, and we're ready to accept beta SNI customers to test it out."
That was fast! lol

RE: Why some of my strong backlinks don't show up in Site Explorer
Hi Armands,
Moz updates their index about once a month. Next update in June 21st.
Also, while the Moz index is rather large it's not all encompassing, which means there are backlinks that it just won't find.
Here's some more information that you might find helpful:

RE: What to do about unethical website company?
You can report link schemes to Google here:

Here's Google's guidelines on link schemes:

It's unlikely that you'll hear back from Google. The best thing you can do is report it, and move on to creating quality content and natural backlinks for your client. Google eventually catches on to manipulations.

RE: Best process for asking customers to leave reviews?
You may have already looked into this, but I would dig into this if I was working with TripAdvisor:

RE: What will the SECOND link from a site do for me
Multiple links from the same domain, whether to the same or different content, has diminishing returns from an SEO perspective. But if it's a link that people might actually click on because it's natural and relevant, then by all means get that link.

RE: How can I make a list of all URLs indexed by Google?
URL Profiler might be worth checking out:
It does require that you use a proxy, since Google does not like you scraping their search results.

RE: Best process for asking customers to leave reviews?
Are you in a position to incentivize them to overcome the friction in the process?
I'm not familiar with the workings of TripAdvisor, but perhaps they can offer some suggestions on how to streamline the process?
Personally, I'd be asking the question: How do we make it so we're not 90% reliant on TripAdvisor for business?

RE: How much time wait to do Link Building to a new page?
As soon as the quality of your page is worth sharing, start reaching out to try and build links. You can of course continue to make iterative improvements to the page after you've started link building, especially if you're not seeing any movement in where your page is ranking. Keep in mind it can take some time for your page to settle where Google thinks it belongs.

RE: Best process for asking customers to leave reviews?
Ah, I see. Well, it's definitely best to adhere to their guidelines if there's risk of a penalty.
I'd review your process for asking customers for a review. What can be improved? Have you tested different copy to see if it affects conversion rate on reviews? Maybe breaking down the process and illustrating it for the customer could help? Get creative!

RE: Size of a term to make money off of ad based informational site
It really depends on the website, the content, and the types of ads.
Most large content sites I've worked with we're in the range of $0.10 to $0.25 cpm in AdSense.
Looks like your connection to Moz was lost, please wait while we try to reconnect.
