there is alot of good directories, please put in mind the more relevancy of the directory to more valuale it is for you
here is a couple:
if the url is http://blog.website.com
then the Robots.txt should be accessable threw http://blog.website.com/robots.txt
I would suggest these steps
There is another way if you are using Wordpress.
There is a All in One SEO plugin / Wordpress SEO by Yoast. threw the settings you can specify to add NOINDEX to all Category, tags, author and others. its faster and error free.
Yes it is a common canonicalization problem
To fix this issue you need to consolidate all the version to one URL by implementing a Rel Canonical or 301 Redirect
all right
then yes, Google is reevaluating the new content and signals and it will either put the page back or better or leave it at #38.
just wait for a couple weeks to see if the new change is permanent or whatever you did actually helped.
If you cant wait (time is money), then revert back the changes
Nick Its located under My questions and you can filter out by "Questions I've Answered"
Oh great,
Check this post by Joost de Valk, it very good guide for SEO in magento
http://yoast.com/articles/magento-seo/
he meantions there is a plugin for canonicalization.
I am against this to be honest.
I would certainely see drop in rankings if these old Links has been removed and not being replaced with good one's
I see couple effects
they are totally fine.
The link will be hosted on a page where features other businesses that they also did the same thing as you did. they are relevant from a "local" theme perspective.
don't over think it
Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine onRewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^[A-Z]{3,9}\ /([^/]*/)index.html?.\ HTTP/
RewriteRule ^(([^/]/))index.html?$ http://www.example.com/$1? [R=301,L]
Try this , which CMS ur using?
yes absolutely,
try to use the domain:freedatingsiteregistry.com in the disavow file and not a specific urls
Dear searchpl,
It will be better to add and verify blog.domain.com in your GWT, and add a separate sitemap inside this account.
Yes Gareth,
There is no difference.
In Google News Guidelines it mentions that you can use minimum of 3 digits identifier OR you can use a News Sitemap.
and I would highly advise to go check the technical requirements for links, multimedia and others here http://www.google.com/support/news_pub/bin/topic.py?hl=en-GB&topic=11665
Hi Robert,
Basically when you load your website, all the content that shows without scrolling down is called "Above the fold", Hence the term Below the fold, means all the content that will appear when you scroll down to see the rest of your site.
take a look at this article (http://andrewhansen.name/affiliate-marketing/google-checkmates-me-but-reveals-internal-secrets/) it shows that Google have the ability to know what is above or below the fold and can calculate the ratio of content / Ads.
And Concerning Ehow, Josh Hannah (Former Owner of Ehow) gave his 2 cents of why EHow didn't get hit with the Panda Update. (http://www.quora.com/Why-doesnt-Google-push-down-low-quality-results-from-sites-such-as-eHow-the-same-way-it-pushes-up-results-from-Wikipedia/answer/Josh-Hannah)
Yes you should block these pages.
This is a quote from Matt Cutts concerning this issue
Use robots.txt to prevent crawling of search results pages or other auto-generated pages that don’t add much value for users coming from search engines
Disallow: /search
I dnt think you are
here is the query and basically your doing fine
http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=danz+hot+tubs
what do you mean by serious link building. if you got 200 links in one day its puts some flags
Concerning Pagination,
I would create a "view all" where all the products are listed under this category. then i add rel canonical linking to the "View All " page.
its can help you with your first question and for the issue using filters.
Am pretty sure, There will be no problems if you are using either of them.
Search engines will never know if you were using A- or a CName record.
On quick check you need to know, is to have the company make sure that the search engines are not accessible to your content on their host (duplicate). (better to use HTTP auth)
Hi Damon,
I have experience with two joomla components for SEO
The most important thing with these components, its to double check compatibility between these components and other components that you have installed. For example Joomsef might not rewrite the urls for Jevents components for example. (this is an example, might not be true)
Hello Nancy,
hmmm no let me explain why
true your inner pages have no inbound links to them but do remember that you have links pointing to your homepage.
That authority you have on you homepage are passed to your inner pages, either threw navigational links or contextual.
Currently, each page you have on your site have an actual Page authority that got inherited from the your homepage
so implementing a good 301 from page to page will partially preserver this authority and of course your rankings you have right now with each page.
Its the Authorship Markup .
Now bloggers and Authors can enhance their snippet by adding rel= Author to their Author page.
The image is pull out from Rands G+ Profile.
the Way implemented is adding a rel="author" to link going to his author page
July 27th, 2011 - Posted by randfish to SEOmoz Tools
and when you go to Rand Profile you will see his G+ Profile with a rel=me.
to verify that rand is the an author on SEOmoz Blog ... Rand has linked to his Blog under links
Or
5. Shorten the keywords in the url post ie
title: Some Post titles are quite long as they are long tail terms
url: /parent-category/child-category/post-titles-long/
if they have links pointing to them i would definitely add them to your server then add a .htaccess to 301 redirect them to the main site
its meaningless to have robots.txt under a folder .. the appropriate location is in the root ... but still it have nothing to do with your current issue... give it a day
in the meantime go to Crawl > Blocked URLs
and see what is robots.txt content is saying and when was the last time they update the robots.txt content
No doubt, your post about Google Docs and Fb/Twitter/SU api's its just awesome.
but imho i think these are some great content
*** After watching EGOL Video... and Ed's Poke the box... u just can delete my answer lol
Your site is indexed by Google:
http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=site%3Ateacherprose.com
SEOMoz Crawler test it didnt pick it up as indexed because you 301 non www to www. it might take time to see the changes in the index. but you are fine. you have nothing to worry about.
I found multiple issues that can help you serve Google with the page you want to rank.
your page can be accessed by going to http://www.pitchcare.com/shop/moss-control/ and http://www.pitchcare.com/shop/moss-control/index.html so what i would do is either 301 redirect or rel canonical
For example http://www.pitchcare.com/shop/hard-surface-moss-killer/index.html i would link from this page to the main category
Omar,
Try to utilize In google analytics advanced segment. and create a segment for IOS 7.0
you will see a correlation there ..
Do you have the new PDFs Linked from pages like the old ones?
Try to create a page listing all the new PDFs, and basically Google might take time to recrawl your site and add these new PDFs ( by the way the last copy saved in Google Cache is from Feb 11)
your best bet is to go and sit on a google hangout done by John Mueller where you can take your case and explain it to him .
here is the info
https://plus.google.com/+JohnMueller/posts
he will be posting about it on monday and fridays. its a public hangout fyi
The position provided by SEOmoz is through a query in a unpersonalized search + using a specific tld.(.com/ca/uk)
What Google provide in the SEO reports in GA is an average of one query or multiple queries also and based on users which they may have personalized results on or off ( and this might affect your rankings )
hence the difference.
hope this helps
Todd,
your not, its my bad, need to input more into my answers.
so here is a screenshot of an http header response for shop/moss-control/
http://markup.io/v/fvjrfw5a3te5
and this is another screenshot of an http respons for shop/moss-control/index.html
http://markup.io/v/ggt61a170rfw
Both are showing a 200 response, means no redirect. please feel free to ask more
Charles
its very difficult for me to respond to this question unless i have the url and the search queries . how the pages are optimized the g+ page where is it linking to
for more information about the venice update check out this post on moz
http://moz.com/blog/understand-and-rock-the-google-venice-update
Usually when you update a Google place Page it might take several weeks to be deleted permantely.and get update with one listing across the web
Hi Tom ,
And Microformats?
did you test it by 404ing the page and move content and internal linking to a new URL? or not feasible?
Lol,
Sure, so what i showed you now, that you are serving 2 URLs with the same content. this is will be a severe problem when people will link to you to shop/moss-control/ for example. and you are focusing your link building, internet linking to this shop/moss-control/index.html. a Duplicate content filter will be flagged and will loose ranking for both.
the steps needed now, are to 301 redirect your shop/moss-control/ to shop/moss-control/index.html
if you check here all the pdf are indexed in google
so i will check the settings on CSE
reference here http://www.google.com/cse/docs/resultsxml.html#wsQueryTerms
Hi Cathy,
This is seems a good community to follow www.amazonsellercommunity.com
One good tip i can share, is when submitting your products to amazon, try to use a different/reworded description of the product.
I checked with semrush and search metrics to see certain changes that matches known updates happened here and couldn't find any.
What type of changes you did to the page?
Google my reset what it thinks of a documents if "enough" changes has been done to it .. which it reevaluate all the signals and show a more stable rankings for that document
This Tactic is expensive and take much time to implement.
because you need to have each mini site, hosted on different class C ip, Different TLDs, Different Whois, different GA / Adsense codes (if implemented).
mainly this tactic is kinda popular in the gambling industry
Eric,
I found out also that you didnt choose what canonical version you want for your website.
means that ur site can be accessed threw www version and non-www version
in order to fix that
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^example.com
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.example.com/$1 [R=301,L]
place it under rewriteengine on .
I just checked federalprose and its working
so it wont hurt your site by having duplicate content for the same product, on your site and on Amazons
and also found this on Google Books http://books.google.com/books?id=HbO4v_V8nQQC&pg=PA69&lpg=PA69&dq=listing+products+on+amazon+guide&source=bl&ots=soRDzUU_ps&sig=6ZPW52aQXXg3J7a6cUa7URa9JVk&hl=en&ei=r7G5TbGxDZK4tgfV5oDeBA&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=5&ved=0CDYQ6AEwBDgK#v=onepage&q=listing%20products%20on%20amazon%20guide&f=false
if the product have a relevant substitute then you can utilize the the 301. but if the product don't have a relevant substitute then 404/410 is the right of doing it.
i might rethink intelligently if the product have too much inbound links to it ... but this is case by case situation.
In this case you need to use rel Canonical
His your reference from Miva Merchant
http://www.mivamerchant.com/blog/google-addresses-duplicate-content
First you would like to search for blogs in your niche that will allow guest posting
you can use these queries
There is alot of controversy how effective or if it still effective to submit your web site to directories.
Nevertheless, you can visit http://www.directorycritic.com/ and from there you can filter results to find web directories thats worth submitting and free too.
PS: try to find the most relevant directories to your niche first.
