Small Link nalysis project - anyone
Hi,
Not sure if someone can help me out.
OSE only show the best mozrank data but i might have some links under that benchmark.
Therefore anybody with a Majestic account that can filter new links from April 2012 to date. Payment not a problem.
WMTools isnt showing data that i expected, so maybe its not there. Need a secondary opinion of the data from another source.
Ive contacted some SEOmoz Recommended Companies...no response. Clearly have better things to do maybe.

RE: Target keywords on homepage or sub page?
I think theres a lot to be said good about exact match domains.........visitors see the words in the domain name and thats not a bad thing. Everybody got a little weighting from EMD`s, now they dont, so your not losing anything over the domain naming, just a levelling. Its not a penalty.
Whether to brand or not is another question and of course if you do then brand domain will be best. (Google now loves brands more than life itself, so worth considering.)
Consider this scenario. You are New York Lawnmowers, you have domain newyorklandmowers.com and when you place your brand links...they are in fact possibly coincide with anchor text, Over oprimisation penalty? Else you can only use URL or varying forms of anchor text.
If you are Lehman of New york and sell Lawnmowers you can be lehman.com and use Lehman as branding links, the URL, a small percentage of New York Lawnmowers anchor texts and other variations. (Dont forget blank images too)
Google will find the brand name without even fitting it in the title, its that smart, from the content and geolocation. Leave the title for the main target money keywords. Your subpages will not carry the same weight as the index page, but of course build links to them. You might find your subpage is against keywords on another site index page. Thats unavoidable.
PS. I changed my brand to the name Google but all i got was webmasters complaining about dropped rankings

Why is OSE so infuriatingly annoying
Damn thing tells me the www.domain im researching has 599 links internal and external.
I download an advanced report for the whole root domain of external links....and its come up with 64 in a csv file.....wtf is that about?
The data about root domain says i have External Followed Links 408 and
55,736 total links...........which is BS. this site hasnt enough internal or external to shoot from the low figure up to 55,0000By the way, im a 7
9 tall but i
ve never meaured my height.. Sounds like SEO data! -

RE: Buying a used domain - redirecting, pluses etc?
Takeshi,
My theory is;
clean up links, improve link profile
use the old unused domain that suits my new branding direction for that reason only
use 301 to redirect content from old domain. plus it will pass some good
Theres nothing bad about that practice I believe.
I use the domain of choice because in registering a new name, both offer zero links but name suits.
note the domain has not been dropped....

Buying a used domain - redirecting, pluses etc?
Hi,
I have a 6 year old domain which has been the basis for my main business website operation. http://www.kent-website-designer.co.uk/
Im in the process of cleaning up some messy sitewide footer kinks that come to the notice of Penguin update. I think I can clear up a lot of links but obviously need to add some better links for the future to improve.
Ive gone from #1 to #60. I was thinking of a rebrand as the EMD isnt doing much good anymore in benefits plus the drop in rankings and also Google definately favouring brand links over concentrated anchor texts. So maybe the time is ideal. The design needs a refresh anyway....
I have found a 1999 .co.uk domain which has some non keyword related 1999 links to it...nice. Its a very reasonable price. Its not going to have inbounds from my related markets, not ideal but it has no negative stuff either. Also its a very simple but rememberable name like Google or Yahoo. Great for branding.
Its parked but Waybackmachine shows indexing back to `99 and google cache has some content on it. However OSE shows low domain / page authority.
Im thinking of redirecting my current domain to the new one, passing some of the positives of age and titles...and replicating the site through 301`s.
Is this worth doing in anyones opinion? Only thing with my domain isany branding words are anchor text words too. I cant win.

Hit by Google updates; Some good advice needed
Hi,
Here`s my domain http://www.kent-website-designer.co.uk/. Registered in 2007.
We have took a big hit from the updates in the last 6 months and its really affecting revenue.
I know when you look at the site you may well think WOW this is 2007 SEO and youre right it hasnt been updated in some time as of last year we ranked very highly and it gave us enough business to concentrate on. However up until last year many of my competitors were using same onpage and offpage strategies....and probably a few of you were too!
So now the inquiries and income is drying up. However, I provided myself with an income from my efforts, rather than be unemployed, so I want to get it back on track.
I visited the Google webmaster forums to query a couple of webmaster account queries and basically got beat up by the rude and arrogant google forum admins. Basically they said I was a spam site who shouldnt be in business. How very nice!
1. I have EMD - but domain age should mean something?
2. I lost a few links from https://www.getsafeonline.org/partners-and-supporters/ in the last year which hasnt helped when they reorganised their content. Same with other trusted sites we lost links. We are left with low quality links.
3. Some CMS sites have replicated our footer links on a large scale, which wasnt intentional but may look as link spam, plus they arent no followed as G prefers.
4. Google seems to have become intelligent? Apparently it can detect content which is negative in outdated seo advice. How, can it understand context and meaning so older seo advice isdetected as spam content?
5. No pages are de indexed just a rank drop to 30 - 60 positions.
6. Over optimised H1`s?
7. Is Pipe command in titles now negative?
So its sink or swim time I guess. The siteand domain is honest but neglected and probably should re align the business with what we can offer. We got away with that SEO but clearly things have changed. However with no grey or black hat at least we arent overly worried by removing links.
Also looking for an SEO company who we can outsource with a white label solution in order to offer SEO.
I dont need beating up, short and to the point critiques please. Pros and Cons
Many thanks.
Looks like your connection to Moz was lost, please wait while we try to reconnect.
