  • We have a site based in Australia that has been using the .com domain. Recently the .com.au became available and we purchased it and use a 301 redirect. Does having a site hosted off-shore and a .com rather than .com.au for a company affect the ratings in google.com.au for Australian traffic?

  • Curious if anyone has had success ranking multiple sites with same whois and server info? We have a client who has purchased multiple businesses over the years in the same industry. Each site has a solid amount of link popularity already and good respected Brand. But I'm wondering with the whois info being the same and the same servers, if ranking for multiple domains will be worth attempting.

  • I'm trying to figure out if the lift in our traffic has anything to do with a new backlink. Is there a way to get an alert anytime a new site links back to us our pull a backlink report by date.

  • A client is debating housing two websites under one URL. The sites would offer similar services at different price points. For example, if a user was coming from a San Fran IP they would be presented with the "high-end" packages while another user coming from Dallas would get the "low budget" content. What are the SEO implications? I know that auto geo-targeting can sometimes be risky. It seems like IP locators aren't accurate all the times (especially from a mobile device). Advise?  Basically, the client wants to make sure that a Dallas user will be presented with the "right" keywords in the SERPs. What would you recommend?  Thanks!

  • My client has a website with 160 pages specific to each storefront location.  Their strategy was to not have any links to the homepage so they cannot leave that storefront site.  I feel it makes sense to create a breadcrumb navigation so the user doesn't have to retype in the url to get back (and provides some internal link juice as well).  Has anybody ever came across the same situation or have done testing to know what the bounce rate is?  Or possibly pose the right response to convince my client they should in fact have a breadcrumb navigation?

  • I'm wondering about one of our web-projects. There's a lot of good interesting content but the  statistics of page impressions don't make me very happy. Each user is visiting just 1,5 sites per visit. That's really not much. We have other (similar) projects where this problem does not exist, where user are visiting a lot more sites per visit. I have no idea what could be the reason for it. Do you know / use some tricks to get more page impressions? Thank you, Sally

  • Read Rand's post on the blog about diversity in traffic source http://www.seomoz.org/blog/traffic-source-diversity-is-essential-for-successful-seo. I would be very interested to know from mozzers, how their experience has been with traffic share. While you answer, please be kind enough to share the following: 1. The niche of the website you wish to quote in your answer. 2. The means of promotion you use (SEO, Social Media, PPC, Display, Affiliate) 3. The reason you think you cited this example and do you think it has been a success or a failure or somewhere in the middle? Appreciate your time, thanks.

  • We have an ecommerce site retailing relatively high value products - precious metals - We have a VeriSign SSL certificate for the domain...  Weighing up the advantages of pointing all visitors through https on the domain, there is a benefit of customer confidence, but from a search engine - say Google's point of view, will delivering the site over https have any trust factor or benefits?
