    I've noticed that on sites with decent social presence and regular content posts that Moz isn't showing/recording any inbound links from Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn. Posts are regularly shared via these three channels but no inbound links ever seem to show up. Does Moz not record such inbound links, or are they all disguised using JavaScript or some other trick?

    So it does not appear that moz let's you upload your disavow file.  So when moz calculates your DA how do spammy links factor in? After digging through our GA it appears our site was hit with the 2016 penguin update and never recovered.  Our weekly visitors were 2k, then dropped to 500 and have stayed close to that level for a while. We've used the disavow tool, without success over the past 3 years.  During that time we have done link out reach and built around 10 legit good quality DA links since.  But we have not recovered.  At this point i'm thinking I should just remove the disavow file. Moz says our spam score for our domain is 5%.

    For business reasons, I migrated my domain with a DA score of 85 to a new domain.  After some time, the DA score on the new domain is only 45.  My migration plan and redirects went smooth and all redirected with best practices in mind.  I am still ranking well for almost all of the keywords where I've 301 redirected old URL to new. Any feedback welcome!

    My travel/tourism site is on WP and using an Events plugin that ads a calendar of events to many pages. The MOZ crawler is indexing almost 46K links with a URL too long, but the site only has about 3.8K pages indexed in Google. I don't believe that Google is seeing this also, but maybe they are. I just know my site has over 63K issues and I'm sure at least 75% or more is because of the way they are picking up on the events calendar. Thanks!

You can read more about the tool here in Sarah Bird’s announcement post. Because Link Explorer improves on almost every aspect of Open Site Explorer, the metrics have improved, too. That means you’re likely going to see some Domain Authority and Page Authority discrepancies between OSE’s index and Link Explorer’s index. We definitely suggest you use the new DA/PA from Link Explorer, as they’re more accurate and refresh daily rather than monthly, as was the case with OSE’s index. However, we also realize that many of you use these metrics to report to your clients and colleagues, and a sudden change or fluctuation could potentially make your job harder. Which DA is the real DA? The new DA is based on a much larger index that has many improvements, several of which are designed to make the index more like Google’s than ever before. You should consider moving towards the new DA (and the old DA won’t be updated after April 26th 2018, so the sooner the better). While there will be fluctuations as we improve the model and add features to the index, we expect it to remain largely stable and to be a far more accurate picture of a site’s authority according to how it’s seen by Google. Why is Link Explorer’s DA/PA considered better than OSE’s, and which should I trust? The larger link index with improved crawl selection allows us to produce a stronger model that includes a much larger proportion of the web. That being said, DA and PA should always be considered in the context of your competitors. A drop in PA or DA relative to the old OSE is of little concern if your competitors saw similar movement. Is Domain Authority/Page Authority an absolute score or a relative one? Both DA and PA are relative to the Internet as a whole. If Facebook acquired a billion new links, everyone’s PA and DA would drop relative to Facebook. Because of this, it’s always best to look at PA and DA in comparison to your competitors. What does a drop/raise in DA mean in Link Explorer vs OSE? How can I explain this to my clients when I’m reporting it? DA and PA should always be considered in the context of your competitors. A drop or raise in PA or DA relative to the old OSE is of little concern if your competitors saw similar movement. Reporting that your site has moved from a DA of 45 to a DA of 42 doesn’t tell the whole story, but reporting that your site has a DA of 42 while your main competitor moved from a 43 to a 37 shows that, relative to the sites you’re competing against in the SERPs, your site has significantly more authority and ranking power. What’s happening to MozTrust and MozRank and why, and what should I replace those with? The improvements to our DA/PA and Spam Score metrics now now account for more important nuances in helping you determine one site’s ability to rank higher than another. Because they no longer correlate with Google’s ranking model as well as they used to, MozRank and MozTrust are being deprecated for better metrics. Users should rely on Page Authority, Domain Authority, and Spam Score to determine the importance and quality of pages, domains, and links. I have historical data I use to help my clients benchmark their progress. What do I do now that DA is calculated differently? You should annotate any KPI changes referencing the change in DA and PA. However, most importantly, you should compare those changes to your competitors, as this will best show how strong your site’s authority is relative to the sites you’re competing against in the SERPs. We take updating our metrics very seriously, and our last major update to the model was 7 years ago. Users of Domain Authority and Page Authority can expect us to continue to produce steady, reliable metrics for the long haul, and only make changes to these metrics when we believe the benefits dramatically outweigh the stability of the metric.     I was under the impression that pagination resolved duplicate page title issues with Google, but Moz is flagging them up as duplicates.     Moz has tons of great tools, so I was quite suprised there is nothing similar to Alexa's siteinfo tool, or SimilarWeb's site comparison tool. Am I missing something? Or does such a tool exists at Moz? Or is there a different way of estimating my competitor's traffic? It would be great if Moz would have something like that.

    We have set up 301 redirects for some subdomains which we are planning to use, but then we changed our focus to main domain. Google has already crawled some of the subdomain pages. As it was duplicate content over subdomains and main domain, we have set up 301 redirects for all subdomains to redirect to the main domain. We have set up 301 redirects a month ago, but some of the search results still show old URLs. Do you need something extra for google search results to refresh with main domain and remove subdomain URLs from google searches? We need rankings to be passed new URLs.

    I have a REACT site www.nettheory.com. MOZ seems to only index the homepage but not all the internally linked pages, even the sitemap.xml is there. The reason I say that is the crawl result only shows the http and https version of the homepage, no other pages mentioned. I also noticed MOZ crawl results point out my content is very thin (<50 words). As a matter of fact, it has a lot more words if the JS runs correctly. Do we know if MOZ crawls REACT or JS based sites correctly?

    In the last week domain authority for our site (www.nyc-officespace-leader.com) has increased from 21 to 31. We have been working on local SEO and making other improvements in the last month. I have noticed that our spam score is now 28. I believe it was much lower in the past. Should we be concerned about incurring a Google penaltyY How likely is this with a spam score of 28? What actions should we take? Also, we will be migrating the site to a new domain early this week. Can we use the domain migration as an opportunity to remove links from pammy domains? Will the removal of link from spammy domains increase or decrease our domain authority? Thanks, Alan

    Hi Moz Community, I am having issues getting a full list of my internal links when I go to the Open Site Explorer. When I export the internal links into excel, I am getting half of my URLs and 80% of what I am getting is absolutely crazy URLs that are super super old. Plus, these old URLs are not even showing in my campaign crawls. So the crawls themselves are different. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, since I am trying to get a full picture on the internal link structure of my site. Thanks!

I am about to move my site from HTTP to HTTPS and was looking for a smooth way to list every page and its details so I can make sure I do the correct redirects etc.. before the switch to SSL. Do I need to get Screaming Frog, or can the tools with MOZ Pro ease my path just as well? Thanks

    Hey everyone! Can somebody explain to me why this keeps happening: Whenever I'm trying to backlink my competitors, I typically use RavenTools. Every time, without fail, if I put that same URL into Moz's Open Site Explorer - It gives me about 1/20th of what RavenTools shows me. Sometimes it literally comes up with 2 or 3 links total. Unfortunately, RavenTools has a cap on how many backlink checks you can perform in a month - so once I've used those up, I have to start using OSE... But, it just doesn't work. Does anyone else have this issue? Thanks!

    Moz encountered an error on one or more pages on your site
    Error Code 804: HTTPS (SSL) Error Encountered The Moz Help Section only says: 804 HTTPS (SSL) error 804 errors result from a site with misconfigured SSL software. If Moz's crawlers cannot correctly interpret an SSL response for a home page, the crawl ends immediately. My site is publicly accessible on https - https://www.compleetverkleed.nl/ And I'm not seeing any issues with my certificate. Can anyone help me out? What steps can I take to troubleshoot this error? If SSL is misconfigured, how do I configure it properly?

    Hi all, I have seen a few discussions / advice pieces around this, but wondered what the current view is on the fastest way to get new backlinks recognised by Moz? I have seen people say that the content needs to be shared (e.g. on Twitter), and advice around creating Bitly links.  I am not convinced that these techniques are working. On a related note, my website is very large.  I have around 2.5m pages.  Most of these pages are 3-4 clicks from the home page, but I have a small amount of important content much higher up in the site (1-2 clicks from the home page).  Does Moz crawl pages nearer the home page more frequently, or does it make a pass of all pages on the site before it starts at the beginning again?  If it makes a complete pass of all pages, then presumably making my site smaller will help to get Moz to see new content more quickly?  Is there any other value to be gained in making a large site smaller?     Hi Moz community, I've got a question about all old backlinks pointing to the http version of my site: Firstly, how it impacts my site's backlinks for SEO and secondly, why does Moz and if you know why Majestic have different metric report values for the different URLs. The Back Story Two months ago I bought an SSL for my personal domain and changed my URL from http to the https version. I 301'd it and can verify that on Majestic SEO using the old http URL. I did this sitewide for an eCommerce site that I'm working and did see a lift in traffic; that was the main reason based on Google talking about sites moving to the SSL Web. I'm No Stranger to 301s Of course all the URLs on my site have been 301'd. I used a HTTPS Redirect plugin for my WordPress site and there's been no issue. I also installed a 404 Checker plugin to log broken external links to my site where I can create a redirect right away in case the HTTPS plugin missed something along the way. I'm comfortable knowing that doing when you change the domain name for a site or just a page going from one URL to another will transfer all the link equity over time. What's Causing the Confusion What's a little confusing is that when I use tools like OSE or Majestic's Explorer, the data doesn't match. For instance in OSE, the https version of my domain has a DA of 1 and PA of 1. But, the http version of my site has a DA of 25 and PA of 36. With Majestic (BTW, please feel free to stop me from asking questions about another tool on Moz, but since we're all part of the same SEO community, I thought I'd ask it here anyway) the Trust and Citation flow values are definitely closely matched but still different values nonetheless. My Question Will I ever see the DA and PA the same for the https & http versions in the future? Does OSE catch the fact that there is a 301 redirect to the https version or does it only recognize that it redirects from http://kingrosales.com to http://www.kingrosales.com when in fact it redirects to https://www.kingrosales.com? My second question is, what about the backlinks? Is it because they are different URLs that OSE doesn't have a way to recognize this and display links from the old http version to the new https version? How will I know the true PA and DA of the https version of my site even with a perfectly executed 301 redirect? lol Let me know if you need more clarification. Thanks

    I've read through the forum, but I'm confused as to what "Number of Linking Root Domains" means in the Linking Domains report. For example, if the root domain is Moz.com and the number is 135,000 does that mean there are 135,000 links from Moz pointing back to my site or does it mean there are 135,000 sites linking back to Moz? Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

    Guys and Girls, I'm having a weird issue in one of my sites , thing is the site had DA 11 in July and however when check on September Site is having 26 without me doing any type of link building and there are no new posts for this month as well. When checked using open site explorer there are no backlinks indexed in their Mozcape index as well. Site: http://www.beijingtravelchannel.com/ Can you give me any plausible reasons for this to happen, so that i can check them out. Thanks in Advance.

    I'm trying to use the Analyze Keyword tool in Moz Pro, and in the SERP Analysis table, my page has a PA of one, and zero root domains linking to it. If I look at the page in Google Search console, it says I have 229 root domains linking to the page from well known domains like github.com, meetup.com, stackoverflow.com, etc. This particular keyword has been tracked in Moz for the last 6 months, but I just noticed that it was extremely low. I am relatively new to Moz, so forgive me if I sound confused, but can someone explain to me how the numbers can be so low?

    Hello, I'm trying to analyze the spam score of my site which is 9/17 Actually I have few backlinks and all of them have a low spam score (max 4/17, just one). I think there's some kind of issue with the crawler since I get strange spam factors: Large Site with Few Links (likely true, I recently deleted a lot of tags used once) Low Number of Pages Found (wasn't it a "Large Site"??) Low Number of Internal Links (I got a considerable number) No Contact Info (I have a link to my facebook in the menu and a "contacts" page) Thin Content (It's just a blog with min 300 words per post, why thin?) Site Link Diversity is Low (likely true) Ratio of Followed to Nofollowed Subdomains (likely true) Low MozTrust or MozRank Score (true) Ratio of Followed to Nofollowed Domains (likely true) Can you please help me to understand it, is it a crawling problem or similar?     I came across a law firm site with hundreds of horrible spam links to it. Of the 3330 links, all but 231 links have anchor text that has to do with "jordan 11s for sale". I'm trying to see how useful the moz spam score is, but clearly it's not reliable if this site has a score of zero. Many of the obviously spammy sites linking to it also have low to zero spam scores, although there are plenty in the 5-10 range. (see attached image). I also noticed that many sites were legit sites, but if you look at the source code, there's tons of hidden spam links in the code (e.g., www.chickasawgardens.net) Why would this site have a zero spam score? If you're curious, put it into open site explorer and have a look. It's a law firm based in Pennsylvania, most anchor text has to do with jordan sneakers and most links are foreign: penn-criminallawyers.com Is the spam score too lenient? Is the moz tool unable to find spam links coming from legitimate sites with hidden spam links? DrokMbP

    Hi all, I tried to find answer in help section. Few people have asked this before but in none of the answers it tells how they fix it. Sorry I will need to ask here again. In Open Site Explorer i get this message. You entered the URL https://a-fotografy.co.uk/ which redirects to http://www.a-fotografy.co.uk/. Because it's likely to have more accurate metrics, we're showing data for the redirected URL instead. Click here to analyze https://a-fotografy.co.uk/ instead? My current site is https://a-fotografy.co.uk/ not sure why it is redirecting to my old domain. Weird. My web developer couldn't explain this issue. Saying that I also go my first analytics report and in priority issues I have http://a-fotografy.co.uk   302 redirect and not sure where it is redirecting to. If someone could shed some light of how to figure out how to find exactly what is redirecting to what and where is the problem. Thank you guys, Regards, Armands

    Hello I have a campaign in Moz that shows a new site as having no domain authority and no links. The site does have links to it, but they don't show up on OSE. Does Moz count links in the comments section of blogs (or is this counted as social, when the commenting system is one that requires facebook login?) I know blog comments are not great for SEO, I just use them when the post/link is 100% genuinely relevant. The site does have actual links on websites not just comment links, so it isn't showing any type of link. What is the best way to see the links the site has? Thanks!

    Hello, When i run my platform www.taobao.nl through https://moz.com/researchtools/ose/ i see a lot of nasty adult domains that link to my platform. These give a very negative (spam)score to my platform. I already disavowed quite a few via Webmastertools, but they keep coming. When i check the names in the Whois, they don't even seem to exist! (anymore) What could cause this and how can i end it?? Thanks for your help! Sander

    Hello, my page authority 30, I see other page with an authority of 21 for example linking to us. Is this good or bad, does this affect our ranking? A lot of these don't have anchor text, I'm guessing we should reach out to these webmaster to include anchor text with the keywords we want to drive traffic to this page or make as descriptive as possible?
