SEO Benefit/Liability of changing URLs of a 2 year old site
-
I sell RV Parts online. Our organization is called The ROUTE 66 RV Network, so we brand everything around ROUTE 66. When we launched our store 2 years ago, we launched it with the domain:
We have a PR of 2, and we have been doing an SEO linkbuilding campaign ever since it has been around.
Our primary keyword that we are trying to rank for is RV PARTS
We also own the domain:
My question is:
Is there a significant benefit to switching our URL to RVPARTS66.COM? Does having our primary keyword a part of our URL give us an SEO benefit? If so, what is the best way to keep any credit we have built for our original domain?
We are in the process of a complete site overhaul which will launch in a couple weeks, so if there is ever a time to switch domains, the time is now.
Thanks!

Do you have any kind of basis for how much it will benefit the search engine rankings?
If you were moving from "parts.com" to "carparts.com" it is likely you would see a noticeable improvement for exact match searches.
Moving from parts66.com to rvparts66.com presents a complication. Even an "rv parts" search would not be an exact match as you have the "66" included in the domain name. Your site will never have an Exact Match Domain which receives the highest benefit. Instead you would be seeking to move from a partial match domain to a better partial match domain, and the improvement may not be noticeable.
I would suggest substantial testing and research prior to making any change. I am not aware of any case studies on a change similar to the one you are considering.

Thanks for the response Ryan. Do you have any kind of basis for how much it will benefit the search engine rankings? A little? A lot?
I have spoken with my programmers and there is not really a technical challenge in switching domains, I am just trying to get some sort of expectation...we are currently on page 2 (~rank of 13) for RV Parts on GOogle and Bing...
What could I expect from this change?
Thanks again for your response.

** Does having our primary keyword a part of our URL give us an SEO benefit? **
Yes. You will receive a benefit on all searches using that keyword.
Your current URL already has "parts" in it. By adding "rv" to the URL, your ranking will be boosted on any search for "rv" and especially for "rv parts", but you will not do as well for "parts" without "rv" anymore.
what is the best way to keep any credit we have built for our original domain?
If you decide to make the change, you should use a 301 redirect. All traffic and links will be redirected from the old site to the new site. Your links will retain 90%+ of their value for the new site. When possible, update the links so you can keep 100% of their value.

Redirect domain without losing SEO benefit,
Now my website need to change to new domain, Since we start this website we have the landing page for sale and blog. So I need to redirect both a.com to b.com and a.com/blog/ to b.com/blog/ and I need to do by these step to keeping the benefit of SEO. For a.com Preparing the new site by duplicate the information of old site. (Get them no-index, no-follow) Export all URL to excel files by Xenu then look up together for re-check the information are they the same or not, I think we can check that if we used the same title. Redirect together by 301 codes. Get google bot know by submission to Google Webmaster Tools (Google Search Console) For a.com/blog/ Since we used wordpress to be our blog CMS, So we need to install wordpress CMS to b.com/blog/, Then backup SQL from PHP C Panel & files. Re-upload that SQL database & files to new server. Export all URL contain /blog/ then look up together by excel again. Redirect by 301 codes. So for this method what am i wrong or need to change please suggestion me. According to this is the technical SEO stuff that I never done before. After we redirect the old domain to new domain how much time Google will take for checking and give the benefit for us with the same benefit. And what we have to do for Moz.org to checking our issues & ranking. Plus - what can we do for no-index, no-follow page that belong to a.com because my website also doing these page as well for each marketing campaign to avoid Google to index.

How to keep old URL Juice During Site Switch
I am switching a local businesses website to a new template. The url structure will be different. What is the best way to not loose the old urls and what content should I serve on them? For example: The url oldwebsite.com/product-a will no longer exist when I switch to the new template. I dont want to loose the current page rank and associate seo juice. At the same time, I do not have the resources to remap every page to the correct new page. My initial thoughts are to just display the homepage content on all of the old urls. Is this a good practice?

Does posting an article on multiple sites hurt seo?
A client of mine creates thought leadership articles and pitches multiple sites to host the article on their site to reach different audiences. The sites that pick it up are places such as AdAge and MarketingProfs and we do get link juice from these sources most of the time. Does having the same article on these sites as well as your own hurt your SEO efforts in any way? Could it be recognized as duplicate content? I know the links are great just wondering if there is any other side effects especially when there are no links provided! Thank you!

DISQUS COMMENTS backlinks-good for seo? YES/NO?
DISQUS COMMENTS backlinks-good for seo? YES/NO? I have just started commenting on "powered by disquus" websites in the Disqus comments box and left a link to my website in the name field! Having googled whether Disqus comments backlinks are any good for seo purposes i have discovered that there is a 50/50 view on the subject with some people saying they are a "goldmine" for getting high PR backlinks and others saying they are a waste of time because googlebot cannot read Java. My own experience of commenting on Disqus powered websites is that wordpress blogs powered by disqus comments ARE INDEXED by GOOGLE and the "BACKLINK IS IN THE SOURCE OF THE PAGE" When i comment on normal websites using the Disqus comment system i have found that my Disqus comments ARE NOT indexed by Google and there IS NO BACKLINK in the page source! Has anybody got any views on whether Disqus comments backlinks are any good?
