Did I do SEOmoz any justice?
-
SEOmoz Community,
I am a business owner and have spent the past year studying SEO. I've been through countless hours of videos and reading. For those questions that go beyond anything i've watched or read i've referred to this community. Everyone here has been VERY helpful and I have based some major decisions on what i've learned from everyone here. We launched our site this morning and now i'd like to see how we did from your point of view. Is my overall site/URL structure up to par? I still need to build backlinks and things of that nature but getting the site live is a major milestone for us. Any comments (good and bad) are welcome.
Site: www.Suretegrity.com
Thanks, Alex

Hi Alexander.
I took a look at your site and have some feedback:
-
your site is presently available in both the www and non-www format. This is a big issue and should be promptly fixed.
-
I agree with Alan in that the site should be presented in http:// format when possible. Your site will seem faster to users as images from a secure site are not cached, for example.
-
your trust symbols in the footer are important but the coloring is very challenging. I couldn't even tell you had SSL from GoDaddy until I moused over and saw the URL.
-
your LinkedIn widget is set for the LinkedIn home page rather then your company's page.
-
you may want to consider moving your social sharing and trust symbols above the fold.
-
I love a good, clear Call To Action but I don't care for the two "Buy Now" buttons on your home page.
-
In your "What is Suretegrity" block you use bold for words such as "all" and "only". I would suggest using bold on keywords and not adjectives.
Now that I have seemingly blasted your site, please let me share that I do like your site. I like the name, your BBB involvement, your social engagement, etc. I list the above items as opportunities for improvement.

Thanks so Much Alan! I passed it along to him. I'm sure he will find it more than useful.

Good to see you did not use a CMS, you made a good choice in MVC.
I use Orchard CMS(mvc) for customerrs who want a blog, but besides that i never use them. It a lot harder to rank with a CMS.
i hope you get that software i sent happening, i am sure your developer will find it invaluable. -
Yes mate, that was me. its a bit hard to make a good judgment without a crawl. But from what i can see, i like.
it is very user friendly, easy to navigate, easy to read, from that perspective you get a pat on the back.
I can tell that the site is made with ASP.MVC, which i think is the best platform to build a site on, very good for seo, very clean code and gives nice SEO friendly urls.
I have never made a site with anything else since I first tried MVC.
I am sure that you developer knows what I mean. MVC has restored my love or programming. -
Are you in Australia? The lead developer said that someone in Australia is crawling the site. We have a bot trap in place. If you are a human it should present a captcha and let you continue viewing the site.

OK here goes, first I noticed that your site is on https, this encrypts your requests and takes up server resources and slows the site, if you don’t need it better to use http.
You have a lot of broken links, many of the links ion the front page don’t work.
You also have blocked access to the js files and css files, SE’s like to see these to try and work out if you are clocking.
Your site is visual very good; it is straight to the point and easy to read.
After having another look, its not that your links are broken, it is because th site is down, I refreshed and now home page has gone also.
OK its back, i will have another look.
It now telling me my IP is banned.

Impact seomoz.org to moz.com?
HI Seomoz, Yes, this question is to you :-), but it might come in handy for the rest of us. With the revamp of your service and website, you guys also decided to change your web address to Moz.com. Myself and perhaps others here consider to do the same. Yet I fear loss in the SERP's. Did you guys experience any loss in the SERP's for your most valuable keywords? What was your plan of action?

SEOMOZ crawler is still crawling a subdomain despite disallow
This is for our client with a subdomain. We only want to analyze their main website as this is the one we want to SEO. The subdomain is not optimized so we know it's bound to have lots of errors. We added the disallow code when we started and it was working fine. We only saw the errors for the main domain and we were able to fix them. However, just a month ago, the errors and warnings spiked up and the errors we saw were for the subdomain. As far as our web guys are concerned. the disallow code is still there and was not touched. User-agent: rogerbot Disallow: / We would like to know if there's anything we might have unintentionally changed or something we need to do so that the SEOMOZ crawler will stop going through the subdomain. Any help is greatly appreciated!

SEOMOZ Diagram question
Hi, On this SEOMOZ help page (http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/internal-link) the diagram explaining the optimal link structure (image also attached) has me a little confused. From the homepage, if the bot crawls down the right-hand link first, will it not just hit a dead end where it cant crawl any further and disappear? OR... will it hit the end of the structure and then crawl backwards to the homepage again and follow down another link and then just repeat the process until all pages are indexed? Cheers pyramid.jpg

SEOMoz Internal Dupe. Content & Possible Coding Issues
SEOmoz Community! I have a relatively complicated SEO issue that has me pretty stumped... First and foremost, I'd appreciate any suggestions that you all may have. I'll be the first to admit that I am not an SEO expert (though I am trying to be). Most of my expertise is with PPC. But that's beside the point. Now, the issues I am having: I have two sites: http://www.federalautoloan.com/Default.aspx and http://www.federalmortgageservices.com/Default.aspx A lot of our SEO efforts thus-far have done good for Federal Auto Loan... and we are seeing positive impacts from them. However, we recently did a server transfer (may or may not be related)... and since that time a significant number of INTERNAL duplicate content pages have appeared through the SEOmoz crawler. The number is around 20+ for both Federal Auto Loan and Federal Mortgage Services (see attachments). I've tried to include as much as I can via the attachments. What you will see is all of the content pages (articles) with dupe. content issues along with a screen capture of the articles being listed as duplicate for the pages: Car Financing How It Works A Home Loan is Possible with Bad Credit (Please let me know if you could use more examples) At first I assumed it was simply an issue with SEOmoz... however, I am now worried it is impacting my sites (I wasn't originally because Federal Auto Loan has great quality scores and is climbing in organic presence daily). That being said, we recently launched Federal Mortgage Services for PPC... and my quality scores are relatively poor. In fact, we are not even ranking (scratch that, not even showing that we have content) for "mortgage refinance" even though we have content (unique, good, and original content) specifically around "mortgage refinance" keywords. All things considered, Federal Mortgage Services should be tighter in the SEO department than Federal Auto Loan... but it is clearly not! I could really use some significant help here... Both of our sites have a number of access points: http://www.federalautoloan.com/Default.aspx and http://www.federalmortgageservices.com/Default.aspx are both the designated home pages. And I have rel=canonical tags stating such. However, my sites can also be reached via the following: http://www.federalautoloan.com http://www.federalautoloan.com/default.aspx http://www.federalmortgageservices.com http://www.federalmortgageservics.com/default.aspx Should I incorporate code that "redirects" traffic as well? Or is it fine with just the relevancy tags? I apologize for such a long post, but I wanted to include as much as possible up-front. If you have any further questions... I'll be happy to include more details. Thank you all in advance for the help! I greatly appreciate it! F7dWJ.png dN9Xk.png dN9Xk.png G62JC.png ABL7x.png 7yG92.png

Why SEOmoz says to keep title tag not more than 65 character?
Why SEOmoz says to keep title tag not more than 65 characters? I have this question that what is the disadvantage if my meta title is 150 character? Why everyone focus in keeping it short ? If i put all my important keywords in starting of title tag say in first 65 characters and keep the title 100-150 character how can it hurt my website? Google will consider 65 character, right but it won’t penalize me for having 110 character then please explain Why we focus so much… 🙂 I know i used too many why 🙂 just to tell i am nt a lawyer 😉 just trying to act like one 🙂 , just kidding.
