How to fix problem with google analytics connection?
-
In the Organic Traffic Data Report I receive always the same message: "It appears there's a problem with our connection to your Google Analytics account. Please go to your Settings page to update your connection." In the settings I've choosen the correct Google Analytics Account with the correct profile. Thanks for any hints.
Is it because using www. in the GA Profil but *.xyz.ch without www in the campaigns settings?

Hi Aaron
Thanks a lot for the help. I've also created a www. Campaign an there it worked out without any problem. In my case the solution also was to disconnect and reconnect to the GA Account.
Well finally, works great!
-
Great, thanks for the confirmation Aaron.
One of the accounts that I re-created actually came up with this issue and sure enough when I disconnected and reconnected it worked nicely.
I'm sure all the 'losing all your data' talk when disconnecting your account would scare the hell out of some people! Good to know that it will be re-populated in time anyway.
-
@sk That is definitely one of the solutions! There are a few reasons this might be happening. Usually, if you have the correct account and profile already selected, the only fix is to disconnect the GA account and then reconnect it. While it does say that you'll lose some data by doing this, the data loss is temporary because we'll repopulate it all when you reconnect from historical data in GA the entire re-population could take a few days though since we won't have it cached anymore). Also, make sure that you have selected the correct account and profile in GA.
You can verify this by going to your GA account, going to the profile that corresponds with your campaign, finding the number of that profile, and checking it against the profile number embedded in your homepage you're tracking. If they match up, you're gold! GA accounts and profiles can sometimes get mixed up so if you have more than one of either, try changing it to another profile. It might work that way.
You may have to wait for traffic data to repopulate but the current data in the Traffic Data tab will repopulate pretty quickly (immediately most of the time). Hope that helps! If you're still not able to get it to work, send us an email at help@seomoz.org with your PRO email address, the campaign that's having issues, and examples/screenshots of your GA account if you can! We'll try to get you running ASAP.

Yep, your suspicions were right.
I just created another campaign based on the same settings as my *.domain campaign except this time with www.domain instead and the traffic data has shown up immediately.
Perhaps during the campaign creation there could be a note to explain that if the GA profile is a subdomain i.e. prefixed with www then the campaign must be set up to match. SEOmoz?
I'll have to go back and recreate my campaigns which isn't too bad for me but I can imagine if you had been running SEOmoz for a while and only just connected your analytics profile you would be going postal!
-
I'm having the same issue and also thinking the *.domain in campaign while www.domain issue might be the key.
The closest helpful thing I found is here http://seomoz.zendesk.com/entries/20031127-lesson-3-connect-google-analytics but all it says regarding troubleshooting is: "Sometimes you can’t connect a Google Analytics account if our servers time out while communicating with Google. If this happens, it’s best to try again later."
If I figure it out I'll let you know!

All ranked pages on Googles SERP only links to home
I got a problem regarding my website called musik.dk, and hope you guys are able to help. I just got my first ranking results from Moz. My question is: All my keywords are linking to the home page, and not the artist page? For examples if I were to search on Rihanna on Google, then when musik.dk appears on the SERP, it only links to the home, and not musik.dk/rihanna.. This problem applies to all the given artists ranked on Googles SERP, it never shows the artist page itself, only links to home. Let me know if you need any information, and I gladly supply, this is kind of frustrating to me.. As a note: all pages besides the home has a PA of 1, and it doesn't really seem to change. Why is MOZ and Google search Volume so different?
A search term in MOZ shows the monthly search volume to be 49K. In Google, the same term shows the search volume at only 1300 monthly searches. Which do I trust? Thanks, Don

SEOMoz rocks, but is it breaking Google's webmaster guidelines when it comes to check rankings?
Hi all, The Google's webmaster guideline in question reads... "Don't use unauthorized computer programs to submit pages, check rankings, etc. Such programs consume computing resources and violate our Terms of Service. Google does not recommend the use of products such as WebPosition Gold™ that send automatic or programmatic queries to Google." So, when WebPosition Gold is not recommended then how come SEOMoz is acceptable to check ranks for websites belonging to SEOMoz PRO? Do Google neglects breaking of few guidelines by good boys? Thanks in advance.

Links from External Sites not Showing on OpenSite or Google Webmaster Tools
Hi, I asked this in another post, but didn't get a solid answer. For several websites I manage, I have access to their Google Webmaster Tools. When I put the site through there, or the link:// or SEOMoz's OpenSite link reporter, I get not even a fraction of the links that I know are pointing to the websites in question. Some of these links are from home pages or side columns, and some are from articles keep within a website, like at Inc.com. I wondered if the links in question were not themselves being indexed, but if I do a very specific search, I can pull them up in the search results. Is it just common knowledge that these link tools are not accurate? And to assume that somehow, search engines really do see all of the inbound links, even if our reporting tools don't. Thanks in advance!
