Incredible rank variations!
-
Hello,
I recently received a project that has incredible SERP variation - one month in the top - next month not even in 100. I tried fixing some problems, I also found out the website owners were changing their content - taking their offers down, and so on, and I thought that was the main reason the SERP variate so often. Now I discovered a page that wasn't changed - meaning it's place in the menu and dropped down from the 4'th page to ..i have no idea where it is. The page is: www.filadelfiaturism.ro/oferte-Cazare-Romania/116/oferte-1.html - I looked for the exact title and it didn't ranked at all. Could someone give me some advice?

Your site should have a 404 page. This is a basic "I am sorry the page you are seeking does not exist" page. It should include your site's normal navigation along with a search function so users can easily find the content they seek.

Hi,
Thank you so much for your feedback. I introduced a text in the page. The search engine is google.ro - two week ago the page was ranked 39 and 18 for Cazare Romania 2011. The Title means: Accomodation Romania | Hotel accomodation | Romania Pensions - I was not targeting all the 3 words - I wanted to be more specific for the visitors - I am changing the title right now.
One more question - What can I do about pages that receive a 404 not found (ex: if i write anything after the domain name it will take me to a 404 page)- should I add a redirect to the first page - should I add a 301 redirect - would that help me?

Exactly which search engine did you use to perform this testing? Since you did not share, I used Google.com.
I performed a search for your url "www.filadelfiaturism.ro/oferte-Cazare-Romania/116/oferte-1.html" and the page is indexed. Next, I searched for the title and agree the page is not in the top 100 results.
From a SEO standpoint, the page needs work. Some specific issues:
-
Your page title is "Cazare Romania, cazare hoteluri, pensiuni Romania". It appears you are targeting three separate keyword phrases. For the best SEO results each page should only target a single phrase.
-
The only phrase in your title which appears at all on the page is "Cazare Romania" which appears once in the header and twice as standalone keywords. None of the three keywords are used even a single time in a sentence within your content. The purpose of your title is to share the focus of your page. The title requires support. The phrase needs to be used, preferable 2-3 times, in your content.
I see many good things about your site such as your social sites being prominently identified at the top of the page, and your physical address and contact information being clearly offered. There are numerous SEO opportunities on your page which need to be improved if you want to rank more competitively. For now, fixing your title and content should at least enable your page to be "on the map" so to speak for it's focus (i.e. in the top 50 rankings).

The links have Anchor Text such as Scam - Dishonest - Drugs. Most of the of the links are "nofollow".
Will links with "nofollow" affect my ranking and if so which of the links should i priorities to remove?
Do I look at Link Equity - Domain Authority - Page Authority or other criteria? Many thanks

Are bad links the reason for not ranking?
Hello Moz community. I'm looking here for some input from the experts on what could be wrong with a site I'm working on. The site is in Spanish, but I'm sure you'll get the idea. We want to rank the site first page on Google Mexico (www.google.com.mx) for the keyword "refacciones Audi" and some other brands (refacciones = replacement parts would probably be a good translation, just FYI). Now, our page hasn't been completely optimized, so in my mind it's OK not to be on first page yet. However, our main competitor is ranking first page for all the keywords we want to rank for, but when you check their site, you'll find there is hardly any content, no keywords are being used in their content, all pages have the exact same title and meta description, their catalog is in a completely different domain. In short, no SEO whatsoever. Looking at Moz data, our site has a DA of 26, while our competitor's has a 10. They have no external backlinks at all, while we have a few hundred. This leaves me scratching my head: how can a completely non-optimized site outrank us? I decided to check our backlink profile, and a previous SEO agency seems to have built MANY fake blogs with lots of backlinks with rich anchor text. Quite a big percentage of our backlinks are of this kind, so this is the only thing I can think can be affecting our ranking. Will disavowing be our solution? If you'd like to check, our site is: www.refaccionariaalemana.com.mx Our competitors' is: www.saferefacciones.com ANY help will be extremely appreciated as I feel a bit lost. Thanks!

Mobile site not ranking
Hello, Our main site ranks well for all the keyword terms, and yet, our mobile site is buried. It is a "m." configuration, and I am wondering if it is a question of not using the correct programming language to get it there? Or if the redirects to the main site should relate differently? I have tried to read up on the topic of mobile site SEO and cannot find (or understand) the answer? Could someone please help? Thanks so much in advance!

Why my ranking on google just disappeared
I have my website ranked on page one probably in top 6, but all of a sudden around 3-4 months before my website just disappeared for that keyword. Any suggestions? Keyword: Brass rod, brass rods webpage url: www.jayjalaramext.com/brass-rods/ and the website itself www.jayjalaramext.com Is it over optimized? or optimized more often which lead to bad history? or any panda or penguing effect ? Waiting for the suggestions.

Sub-domain dilema - variations
Hi All, We're creating a sub-domain for a new program launch on a client site and we need to choose the "right" sub-domain name that properly reflects the offering and hopefully keyword driven. The client is already using the preferred sub-domain name but until we get clarification that we can take it over, I'm doing my due diligence and expecting a worst case scenario in that we cannot use it. The current preferred sub-domain is only a landing page (not a full site) and it does NOT rank for anything and it's not being built out further. My question: Would pluralizing our preferred keyword have any effect in the way SEs see the two sub-domains as they're very closely related? hardcandy.sitename.com or hardcandies.sitename.com The new sub-domain would be a fully-functional-SEO-friendly site (well that's the plan anyway). Thanks for all your help.

Duplicate content domains ranking successfully
I have a project with 8 domains and each domain is showing the same content (including site structure) and still all sites do rank. When I search for a specific word-string in google it lists me all 8 domains. Do you have an explanation, why Google doesn't filter those URLs to just one URL instead of 8 with the same content?
