Header Tags
-
Ok so I am writing different pages and the first heading is an H3 just because I wanted to it be a certain size. Then as you see the content, I have an H1 tag.
Example page: http://www.oxfordmshomes.net/condos/acadia-court-Oxford-MS
you can see that "Acadia First" is the first thing you see on the page and it uses an H3 element.
Long story short, my hierarchy is wrong. Does this have any negative effect on my SEO efforts?

Order of heading tags is important... use CSS to control size & tags other than headings!
Think of a HTML doc as you would any other academic document..
Animals
Cats
Red Cats
Pink Cats
Dogs
Round Dogs
Square Dogs
..you get the idea

You have links in your menu, that is enough.
as for you hierarchy, you should be ok, as a H1 is what it is, but if you don’t use a h1 SE will look for the first emphasized tag to use as a heading so its not conclusive.
Try using html5 to mark out your page.
I would use the hgroup and article tags.<hgroup class="title">
Perth SEO Company
Local SEO Perth Western Australia
</hgroup>
Blah blah blah
It is not sure if SE's are up to date on html5 yet, but they will do so,
make sure on the page specific content is in the article tag

ah yes. I did this because I wrote a page for every subdivision in my town. I don't really know a better way to do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I thought that It was always good to have a link to a page and not have the page just floating on the site with no links. Any help is greatly appreciated.

There must be 100 links commented out in your code... Here is an example... <a href="[http://www.oxfordmshomes.net/condos/a-southern-place-Oxford-MS](view-source:http://www.oxfordmshomes.net/condos/a-southern-place-Oxford-MS)" class="main"> <span>A SOUTHERN PLACEspan>a>li>

I'm not sure what you mean by link tags commented out? Do you just mean regarding under my subdivision tabs? Thanks Egol

The short answer... I don't know for sure.
Clarified answer... At the present time I do not believe that there is a huge difference in how Google and other search engines treats H1, H2 and H3. However, just to have things straight... I would make that
Acadia Court an H1. You can change the appearance using css.
You didn't ask but when I looked at the code of your page I was shocked to see so many link tags commented out. I would be getting rid of those if this was my site.

Why do two pages compete while a canonical tag is active?
Hi guys, My SERP analysis show me that two pages compete eachother for the keyword kinderfiets, which should not happen since there is a canonical tag is active. www.halfords.nl/fiets/kinderfiets/kinderfiets/ Ranks #6 and www.halfords.nl/fiets/kinderfiets/ Ranks #7. The first one is a subcategory which is one step deeper than the second one. I prefer consumers to land on the broader subcategory, because that one shows more products.Furthermore, we already did some SEO tweaking for the #7 page, but did not work on the #6 page. So it is even kind of strange that this page ranks higher. Can somebody help me out?Kind Regards,Tom

Do URLs with canonical tags get indexed by Google?
Hi, we re-branded and launched a new website in February 2016. In June we saw a steep drop in the number of URLs indexed, and there have continued to be smaller dips since. We started an account with Moz and found several thousand high priority crawl errors for duplicate pages and have since fixed those with canonical tags. However, we are still seeing the number of URLs indexed drop. Do URLs with canonical tags get indexed by Google? I can't seem to find a definitive answer on this. A good portion of our URLs have canonical tags because they are just events with different dates, but otherwise the content of the page is the same.

Meta tag Syntax
Hi, This might seem silly. What is the correct syntax for the meta tag used when noindexing webpages? I have "". I have seen it both with and without the forward slash before the greater than sign. Does it make any difference if the forward slash is present or not? Cheers

Missing "Mobile Friendly" Tag in Google
Hi All, I have noticed that Google are not displaying a mobile friendly tag next to our website (www.wombatwebdesign.com). We made it responsive over a year ago and it is running on Joomla 3.X, as recommended by Google. I have run it through google checking tool and it confirms it is mobile friendly. So why no mobile friendly tag? Any ideas gratefully received. Thanks Fraser

Duplicate title tags being caused by upper case and lower case version of urls'
Hi GWT is reporting lots of duplicate titles for a clients new site. Mainly these are due to 2x different versions of the url, one with words starting with an upper case character and the other all lower case. Clients dev saying this has something to do with windows server and is ok! Is this correct or should i be telling them to delete and then 301 redirect all upper case versions to the lower case (since lower case better practice) and that will deal with the reported dupe titles ? All Best Dan

Changing title tag in wordpress media pages
Hello! I have a problem of duplicate title on 59 pages in Worpress. I Guess it happened after a recent WP update, because, suddenly, I got a peak of 59 from zero in a day. The SeoMoz crawl report states that there are 59 duplicate title. As you may see in the picture those are all media pages, whose title is written really badly with the formula postname/filename/blogTitle, ending up with trunkated, too long, title tags, that result in duplicate page title. How can I simply hide these mediapages or sculpting the title tag the way I want? I am using all-in-one-seo WP plugin, which doesn't seem to provide a solution. Thank you all! Canoical tags how do i use them
Hi i have this coming up on the report for my url www.in2town.co.uk but i am not sure how to use the canonical tag. I am using joomla and would be grateful if anyone could please give me advice on how to use this. Canonical URL Tag Usage Moderate fix <dl> <dt>Number of Canonical tags</dt> <dd>0</dd> <dt>Explanation</dt> <dd>Although the canonical URL tag is generally thought of as a way to solve duplicate content problems, it can be extremely wise to use it on every (unique) page of a site to help prevent any query strings, session IDs, scraped versions, licensing deals or future developments to potentially create a secondary version and pull link juice or other metrics away from the original. We believe the canonical URL tag is a best practice to help prevent future problems, even if nothing is specifically duplicate/problematic today.</dd> <dt>Recommendation</dt> <dd>Add a canonical URL tag referencing this URL to the header of the page.</dd> <dd>many thanks for your help
