Opensiteexplorer - not accuate for me
-
I am not getting accurate views in ose. Its still saying i have links from domains which i do not. I am wanting an accurate anchor text distribution but ose is not providing me with it. Does anyone know where i can get this kind of info from?
I waited for an update with ose but i personally find it inaccurate as it is still telling me links are there when they are not.

I know this thread is very old, but still very relevant to me today. My OSE report is showing sites that do not have any link pointing back to my site. I checked both the page and the source code and cannot find any evidence of a link. Some of these are low quality sites, and I don't want Google to punish me for being linked from them. Should I be worried of a penalty if OSE is still indexing them? Appreciate any response.

Hi Paul,
Linkscape is updated every few weeks, and with each new index old links are cleaned out. Occassionally you can find links that no longer exist, but Linkscape will look for these links during it's next crawl of the web, and only include them if found. So any non-existent links tend to disappear in a few weeks.
This is actually a very interesting problem for web crawlers, because 50% of the entire web disappears every year, and 80% disappears ever two years! Keeping up with this churn is a momentous task. In fact, over half the time it takes to publish a new Linkscape index is spent on processing time to ensure it's accuracy.
As Ari mentioned you can try Majestic SEO. You can also find some (highly inconsistent) backlink information in Webmaster Tools. No two link reports from different sources will ever be the same so you will definitely see different results. That said, if I had to choose one source for backlink information I prefer the numerous advantages offered by OSE.
Occasionally OSE reports links that are "hidden" or otherwise hard to find. In extreme cases it's best to check the source code of the website to ensure the links are actually missing.
Also, feel free to report any possible OSE errors to the SEOmoz help team (help@seomoz.org) Any information can help make the tool better.
Best of Luck with your SEO!

Erm its a little different, still very questionable about the accuracy.
I also noticed that my internal report shows different anchor text distribution to the OSE, does anyone know why and which one is more reliable/up to date?

The latest update for Linkscape/OSE was this morning, and I believe after you posted this. Can you re-run your report and see if it looks better? Do keep in mind Linkscape crawls only about 25% of the web, so no report is going to be perfect regarding all of your anchor text distribution, but it should be more accurate for you today than it was yesterday given the recent update.

Way before the last update.

Whne did you remove the links?

cross canonicalization with redirect
I'm working with a website that has turned one of its pages into its own website within the main website - mostly for the ease of customers, making it simpler to access that page using www.page.com rather than www.mainsite.com/about/page.

As a result, there are two urls for that page (the ones just mentioned), both pointing to the exact same page, but with different urls. Now, they have made it so www.mainsite.com/about/page permanently redirects to www.page.com. which I thought was a good call. However, what do I do about canonicalization? Is it good to point the canonicalization of www.page.com to www.mainsite.com/about/page so that the rankings and link equity are maintained in the main website? Or would the fact that the www.mainsite.com/about/page redirects to www.page.com mess that up? I hope this makes sense!0 -

URLs dropping from index (Crawled, currently not indexed)
I've noticed that some of our URLs have recently dropped completely out of Google's index. When carrying out a URL inspection in GSC, it comes up with 'Crawled, currently not indexed'. Strangely, I've also noticed that under referring page it says 'None detected', which is definitely not the case. I wonder if it could be something to do with the following? https://www.seroundtable.com/google-ranking-index-drop-30192.html - It seems to be a bug affecting quite a few people. Here are a few examples of the URLs that have gone missing: https://www.ihasco.co.uk/courses/detail/sexual-harassment-awareness-training https://www.ihasco.co.uk/courses/detail/conflict-resolution-training https://www.ihasco.co.uk/courses/detail/prevent-duty-training Any help here would be massively appreciated!

Google will index us, but Bing won't. Why?
Bing is crawling our site, but not indexing it, and we cannot figure out why -- plus it's being indexed fine in Google. Any ideas on what the issue with Bing might be? Here's are some details to let you know what we've already checked/established: We have 4 301’s and the rest of our site checks out We’ve already established our Robots is ok, and that we are fixing our site map/it's in fine shape We do not see anything blocking bingbot access to the site There is no varnish or any load balancers, so nothing on that end that would be blocking the access We also don't see any rules in the apache or the .htaccess config that would be blocking the access

When I look in OpenSiteExplorer, it says that it hasn't followed any of my internal links... WTF?
When I look at my site in open site explorer, it says it has followed 1 internal link.. I know that opensiteexplorer has updated, because my domain rank has changed since the last time i looked. I figured it just hadn't fully crawled and indexed my links, but considering I have had an account here for over a month, and the site is over 7 months old, I doubt that is the case. My site is www.ontracparts.com can anybody help me here?? Thanks, Tyler

Why is this url showing as "not crawled" on opensiteexplorer, but still showing up in Google's index?
The below url is showing up as "not crawled" on opensitexplorer.com, but when you google the title tag "Joel Roberts, Our Family Doctors - Doctor in Clearwater, FL" it is showing up in the Google index. Can you explain why this is happening? Thank you http://doctor.webmd.com/physician_finder/profile.aspx?sponsor=core&pid=14ef09dd-e216-4369-99d3-460aa3c4f1ce
