Notice rel canonical
-
Hi, Why does my sites get the crawler notice for rel canonical when using the PRO account crawlers??
The canonical is there and it works, and to me it looks just like any other canonical link, the canonical is only at some links but not everyone, why is that?

Its just a notive to let you know they are there, Rel canonicals are somthing you would nort want in the wrong page, so letting you know where they are is a good thing

Is The Number of Duplicate Pages reduced after adding canonical ref to the dupe versions ?
Hi Is the number of duplicate pages reported in a dupe page content error report reduced on subsequent crawls, if you have resolved the dupe content problem via adding the canonical tag to duplicate versions (referring the original page). Like it would if you were solving the problem via a 301 redirect (i think/presume) ? Cheers Dan

Ignore Moz Notices?
Hi All, I read an old post (2011) about ignoring rel canonical notices from Moz. I wondered why they can be ignored? The thing is, it's showing a bunch of rel canonical errors for my pages but I know I have the tag right. At the risk of being offensive.. can the notices be ignored because the Moz data is erroneous? I'm not sure what to make of this. Thanks!

Crawl Errors and Notices drop to zero
Hi all, After setting up a campaign in Moz the crawl is successful and it showed the Errors and Warnings in crawl diagnostics (each one had about 40-50), but after a few days the number dropped to zero. Only the "notices" seems to stay normal, with a slight drop since the campaign set up, but not dropping to zero. I set this campaign up in a colleague's account and the same thing happened shortly after set up. I didn't find any Q&A already posted so any insight is appreciated!

How can I see the URL's affected in Seomoz Crawl when Notices increase
Hi, When Seomoz crawled my site, my notices increased by 255. How can I only these affected urls ? thanks Sarah

Did anyone else see "Rel Canonical" drop to zero after their latest SEOmoz crawl?
In the Crawl Diagnostics section of the SEOmoz reports, we get errors in red, warnings in yellow, and notices in blue. After my latest crawl, I saw the "Rel Canonical" part go from about 300 down to 0. Obviously, this isn't right, so I'm wondering if this is a bug that everyone is experiencing. U9W5I

Canonical Confusion
Hey guys, I'm having a hard time grasping canonical links and the warnings I'm getting on my report card. I'm using Yoast SEO Plug-In and can see that every page on my site has a canonical reference to the URL of the page I'm at. Can someone please enlighten me on this subject. I'm reading everything I can about Canonicalization (honestly...an easier word please) but I does not make sense yet. Thanks! I added the notice I'm getting on my report card. Some questions on Canonical tag AND 301 redirect
Hi everyone, I'm new here - always loved SEOMoz and glad to be part of the Pro community now. I have 2 questions regarding the Canonical URL tag. Some background info: We used to run an OsCommerce store, and recently migrated to Magento. In doing so, we right away created 301 redirects of the old category pages (OsCommerce) to the new category pages (Magento) via the Magento admin. Example: www.example.com/old-widget-category.html
Moz Pro | | yacpro13
301 redicrected to
www.example.com/new-widget-category.html In Magento admin, we have enabled the Canonical tag for all product and category pages. Here's how Magento sets up the Canonical tag: The URL of interest which we want to rank is:
www.example.com/new-widget-category.html However Magento sets up the canonical tag on this page to point to:
www.example.com/old-widget-category.html When using the SEOMoz On Page Report Card, it pick this up as an error because the Canonical tag is pointing to a different URL. However, if we dig a little deeper, we see that the URL being pointed to
www.example.com/old-widget-category.html
has a 301 redirect to
www.example.com/new-widget-category.html
which is the URL we wan to rank. So because we set up a 301 redirect of the old-page to the new-page, on the new-page the canonical tag points to the old-page. Question 1)
What are you opinions on this? Do you think this method of setting up the Canonical tag is acceptable? Second question... We use pagination for category pages, so if we have 50 products in one category, we would have 5 pages of 10 products. The URL's would be: www.example.com/new-widget-category.html (which is the SAME as ?p=1)
www.example.com/new-widget-category.html?p=1
www.example.com/new-widget-category.html?p=2
www.example.com/new-widget-category.html?p=3
www.example.com/new-widget-category.html?p=4
www.example.com/new-widget-category.html?p=5 Now ALL the URLs above have the canonical tag set as:
<link rel="canonical" href="http://www.example.com/new-widget-category" /> However, the content of each page (page 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) is different because different products are displayed. So far most what I read regarding the Canonical tag is that it is used for pages that have the same content but different URLs. I would hope that Google would combine the content of all 5 pages and view the result as a single URL www.example.com/new-widget-category Question 2) Is using the canonical tag appropriate in the case described above? Thanks !0
