Why do pages with canonical urls show in my report as a "Duplicate Page Title"?
-
eg:
Page One
<title>Page one</title>
No canonical urlPage Two
<title>Page one</title>Page two is counted as being a page with a duplicate page title.
Shouldn't it be excluded? -
Thanks Adam, that would be very awesome of you and your team!
-
Thanks for the question!
I did a little digging, and you are correct in that a duplicate title should not be shown here. There are some cases where a URL is canonicalized to another, but our crawler still report it as a duplicate title.
The good news is that we have an update in the works that will exclude canonicalized duplicates correctly. We are testing it now and hope to have it in place by late January.
This update will also fix a lot of other small bugs and be more robust overall. I hope this helps for now. We'll be sure to announce when the update goes out.

Thanks Peter, Google follows my implementation correctly so I'm pretty sure it's something overlooked in SEOMoz Pro
-
That should work - it's possible your implementation isn't 100% correct (can't tell from the example), but it's possible that we're not handling this completely right. I'm going to ping the product team and see what they can tell us.
-
I'd love a few more opinions on this. So far everything I've read has said only to place the canonical on the pointing page.
-
You should include the rel canonical on both pages. Eg:
Page One
<title>Page one</title>Page Two
<title>Page one</title>Hope that helps,

Unsolved Blog archive pages in Craw Error Report
Hi there, I'm new to MOZ Pro and have a question. My scan shows Archive pages as having crawl issues, but this is because Yoast is set up to block robots on these pages. Should I be allowing search engines to crawl these pages, or am I fine to leave them as I have it set up already? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Can't figure out why some of my pages are duplicate content
Within the crawl diagnostics area I'm getting duplicate page content issues on several pages. I don't know why, would anyone be able to tell me how these links are duplicate so I can fix them? http://www.sagenews.ca/Column.asp?id=3010 http://www.sagenews.ca/Column.asp?id=2808 http://www.sagenews.ca/Column.asp?id=2998 http://www.sagenews.ca/Column.asp?id=2837 http://www.sagenews.ca/Column.asp?id=2981

Duplicate Titles Shown in Moz Analytics
Hello, My Moz analytics show over 50 duplicate titles. This because my website title is shown on each page (eg About us | Social Engagement, Contact us | Social Engagement, etc.) Is this really an error to be fixed, that otherwise will impact rankings? Or can I leave it as it is? I don't mind having my website title on each page, but if its worth removing it due to duplicate issues impacting ranking, I will remove 🙂 In this case, does someone have any suggestion on how to do this? Which files should I modify? (Im using Wordpress CMS, and I dont see each page code) Thanks in advance.

4XX (Client Error) Report - Referrer URL Feature Request
Why not allow me to click on the individual 404 errors in the 4XX (Client Error) report and allow me to actually see the where the broken links are coming from (as a hyperlinked url) so I can locate/click and fix them? Providing the referring url w/hyperlink will stop me from having to jump between the report and searching in site explorer, or downloading the complete error report and sorting.

Why does Rel Canonical show up as a notice?
In the crawl diagnostics screen "Rel Canonical" shows up as a notice for every page that has a rel="canonical" meta tag in it. Why is this the case? Shouldn't every page have a canonical tag on it to show the absolute URL to the content? Wouldn't a better notice be to display pages that do not have a canonical tag instead? I could be wrong but that would make more sense to me. (In fact.. let's be honest here.. I probably am wrong.. but I'd like someone to explain it if they could.) Thanks

Keyword Difficulty Report vs Rankings Report
Hi, Question: Is there a difference between the Keyword Difficulty Report and the Rankings Report? I am tracking a long tail phrase in the Rankings Report for a Campaign. The Google results are that it's not in the top 50. Yet, in the Keyword Difficulty report, there it is in the 5th spot. I'm not sure I know which to believe. Thanks!

Duplicate content & canonicals
Hi, Working on a website for a company that works in different european countries. The setup is like this: www.website.eu/nl
Moz Pro | | nvs.nim
www.website.eu/be
www.website.eu/fr
... You see that every country has it's own subdir, but NL & BE share the same language, dutch... The copywriter wrote some unique content for NL and for BE, but it isn't possible to write unique for every product detail page because it's pretty technical stuff that goes into those pages. Now we want to add canonical tags to those identical product pages. Do we point the canonical on the /be products to /nl products or visa versa? Other question regarding SEOmoz: If we add canonical tags to x-pages, do they still appear in the Crawl Errors "duplicate page content", or do we have to do our own math and just do "duplicate page content" minus "Rel canonical" ?0 -
For the "On Page Report Card", Can I see a list of all of the recommendations?
On the "On Page Repord Card", in the "Page Analysis Detail" section, I can click "Read More" for each factor and see a "Recommendation" on how to fix the page to meet that factors criteria. Are these recommendations the same everytime or will they vary depending on the page itself? Can get a copy of each recommendation that would appear if none of the criteria were met? Thanks, Daniel.
