How can I Get SE results as if browsing from a differetn location?
-
Hi,
I would like to know if anyone has an easy way off allowing me to browse a SE and get results based on as if I was browsing from a different location.
EG I am based in the UK and therefore google customises my result as such. However I am working for a client targetting the US, so I need to get SE results as if I was browsing from there.
Thanks

The Seomoz search bar does a great job. Take a look at the SERP control panel and use a custom search profile. More information on that here: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/google-personalized-search
Altenatively add this query string to the end of google.co.uk
/search?q=widgets&pws=0&gl=us
This is using google.co.uk to search for widgets in the United States.
q= any keyword (multiple keywords need to be seperated with a +) i.e q=blue+widgets
gl= location you want to search - gl=us would be correct in your case.
There are many other ways but I find these the most useful.
I hope they help.

Hi there
A few ways to change the location of your search to provide different location based results include:
1) Advanced Search - can change the region of the search
2) From a search results page (Google) you'll see a 'Change location' option over on the left, this can be more specific than region level.
3) You could add the location into your search query, e.g. pizza seattle
All those will provide different results to that of your default location. You could also get somebody in the desired location (if you know anybody there) to search for you with a non-personalized search.
Hope that helps,
Regards
Simon

Redirection Question - Can Anyone Help?
Hi Community, I have 2 job boards. Job board A is a .co.uk domain. Job board B is uk.com domain. Job board A displays jobs in the UK but has an international jobs section. Job board B focuses entirely on international jobs. To cut a long story short we are shutting down Job board B as we are going to just be using Job board A in future. In terms of redirection, would it be best to: 1. 301 redirect job board B domain to Job board A. (www.jobboardb.uk.com -> www.jobboarda.co.uk) or 2. 301 redirect job board b to the international jobs section on job board a (as this is the most relevant place for the user to go I am thinking to go with option 2, but I read somewhere that it wasn't best practice. Any help is much appreciated.

Hosting your website where you customers are located ?
Is it possible and recommended to host a website in Switzerland ending in.com to rank in the United States ? Or is it better to host it in the country you are targeting ? I know in WMT you can choose the country you want to target but is it as efficient as hosting it on a server located in the country ? Thanks,

How is Google determining location for geotargeting
Hello, I have a question related to Geotargeting.
International SEO | | Lvet
Let's suppose I have a website: mysite.co.uk
As far as I understand Google will consider this site targeted for the UK and will appear on searches preferentially from the UK. What happen now if I have a person located in Spain (with a Spanish IP) and searching in Google.co.uk. Will mysite.co.uk still appear in searches? What are the factors that Google takes into account for Geotargeting? Thank you0 -
How can I change the currency Google lists my products with in the SERP?
I.e. This product - http://www.absoluteautomation.ca/fgd400-sensaphone400-p/fgd400.htm - shows up as USD in the SERP. (In the US it just won't show a currency, if Canada it will show USD on the SERP). My pricing is all in CAD, how can I tell Google this? (It knows pricing is CAD in my Google Product Listings/Merchant Center). Thanks!

Opensite explorer results and old links
Hello, Within a week after the penguin update (Apr. 24), I removed all site wide footer links pointing to my site. However, if I run a opensite explorer on this site I still see these links pointing to my site. And I'm sure I deleted them! How long will it take that these links disappear from the opensite explorer results? Do you think Google's algorithm has the same results to check my website on? Or does the algorithm have another "tool"? Thank you. Regards, Thomas
