Hi all,
We're just about to push out a blogger contest. We want to win for the keyword "How to make a difference"
Search volume:
Exact match: 810
Broad Match: over 300,000
These are our contest guidelines that I plan to share with interested bloggers soon:
Subject:
Follow Up: The Vittana “Make a Difference” Contest.Hi [FIRST NAME],
Thanks for expressing interest in the blogging contest that I mentioned a couple weeks back. We’ve finalized the contest rules and we’d love to get you on board.
We were impressed by the interest that this contest has generated. Not only do we expect this contest to help over 250 students in developing countries to complete their education, but it should also drive traffic to your site as well!
PRIZES
- $200, $100 and $50 gift certificates for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.
- Badges showing the amount of loans driven by your blog post.
- ??Another idea??
CONTEST RULES:
WRITE A SHORT BLOG POST
Write a post on your blog focused on the theme “Making a Difference.” The post length is up to you but probably should be under 500 words. Some possible topics include. These posts do not have to be related to Vittana:- How has education made a difference in your life?
- How have you used your education to make a difference in the world?
- What are, in your opinion, the best ways to make a difference?
- What are, in your opinion, the most pressing problems in the world today? What can we do about them.
- Check out the list of countries on left-hand side of Vittana’s student list. Have you been there? What are major problems facing the country? How might they be solved?
- Tell us about someone or something that had made an impact in your life.
Again, the format can be up to you, but you can check out this document (TO BE CREATED) to help get you started.
PASTE THIS TEXT AT THE BEGINNING OF YOUR POST
Please put the following text at the beginning of your blog post to mention the contest:
[Paragraphs with varying anchor text pointing to our contest page--we'll vary through mail merge]EMAIL ME THE POST URL AND YOUR TWITTER HANDLE
In order for us to enter the contest, please send me the URL of your published blog post and your twitter handle. If you don’t have a twitter handle, we encourage you to sign up and create one for the purposes of scoring.Important: The scoring of posts is based in part by the number of tweets that your post receives. In order for us to properly calculate your score please ensure that your username and the hashtag #makeadifference is part of the tweet.
Something like this: http://i.imgur.com/nlVij.png
In order to make this process easier, we will be sending a “tweet this!” link so that when people do share the hashtag and your twitter username is already included.
Good luck! And if you have any questions just let me know!

We've got plenty of bloggers lined up already. I wanted to get some feedback from folks who might have done a similar blogger challenge before, how it worked out for them, and if we weren't missing any crucial details.

What is your question? I hope I am wrong, but I get the impression you are promoting your contest, and not really asking for help.

Blogger has reached out to me. What to do??
Hi Mozers, A blogger has reached out to me asking for free service in exchange of mention of our company in her social media accounts and blog. She is asking for service that is going to cost me around $300-$400. The thing is her audience is not our target customer, There is no way I can get a single paying client after getting the mentions on het twitter or facebook. What can be useful for me in my mind is the link from her blog/website. OSE shows DA 28 not very impressive in my mind. What would you guys do? Would you say yes and get the link and useless mentions on social media accounts? Would you ask for say 3 links from her blog maybe 1 to home page and 2 to deeper pages that are important landing pages for SEO purposes. One more thing- I realized that this blogger is just getting a lot of attention from media, for example she is coming to our city to do an interview with FOX new. So now she might not be super popular and her blog is DA28 but if she continues becoming popular I would think the link would be worth much more in the near future. This is the first time anyone has contacted me with such an offer I would really appreciate any help and input. Any advice would be great, how to ask for the links, or is there something else I can ask for, that I have not thought about? Hope you guys had nice Thanksgiving Thank you Davit

Is Link Earning the same as Blogger Outreach?
Hello all - is there a difference between link earning (from Rand's WBF post) and blogger outreach? Little confused 🙂

Blogger vs wordpress from SEO perspective
Blogger is under the google umbrella and of course will be in line with google's strategic moves in the future. That includes commenting with google plus accounts and any future integrations. (google plus will HUGE in the future when it comes to SEO)currently there is no way to host blogger on your own servers, which means all your images and video are not really yours from an SEO perspective. Wordpress however does not have as much technical restrictions, but eventually it will be a major competitor to blogger. You can host it on your own servers as well. So from an SEO perspective which one is better?

3 month intern plan, thoughts/opinions appreciated
Just looking for some opinions here. I'll be hiring a summer intern to help with marketing, spreading the word, and link building. Just wanted to get some feedback on what I'm thinking of having them do. 1. Run back link checks on all competitor websites and ask the owner/webmaster if they'd consider linking to us. 2. Directory submit to any relative directories that pass link juice. 3. Find relevant websites or forums and ask for links, run broken link checker while on their site as well. Maybe offer their audience some sort of freebee or special product/e-book. 4. Create hang outs on Google +, groups on Linkedin.com, Quora etc. Follow relevant Twitter followers and post content regularly. Trying to think of a few other things as well. Looking forward to your opinions. Thanks.

Author Tag on Blogger - What am I Doing Wrong?!
Hi All, I've just taken over handling our company's blog at http://www.cookwareblog.com.au/. We have several writers for this blog so I want to set up separate author tags for each of them. As you can see from the latest post - http://www.cookwareblog.com.au/2012/06/weird-and-wacky-ice-cream-recipes.html - I am the author/publisher. However, I can't seem to link my blogger author profile - http://www.blogger.com/profile/05603194922729243157 - to my Google Plus profile because when you go to my Blogger Profile it automatically redirects to my G+ profile. Also, there is no link directly from my blogger post, it just says "Posted by Brad Russell" (unlike previous posts by the master login for our company, which link to a central author profile page). What am I doing wrong? Today I successfully set up author tags on my Wordpress blog, I just can't seem to get it right on Blogger. Thanks!

Seeking feedback from the community here on a new project of mine
First off, thanks to what I can already tell is a great community here. I've never seen so much solid information in one place. I am working on a real estate website that brings a better experience to high end lake front home buyers in our area. The lakes name is Lake Keowee and it is in Seneca, SC. My url is keoweepremier.com Some of the top competitors seem to use link exchange options that don't seem relavent, yet they are ranking quite high. I am only a month or two in, and just looking for feedback from you all on tips for my path forward and approximately how long it will take to you some of my work pay off in the results. Still waiting for my dmoz listing to be approved for now, arghh. Thanks, Steven

Blog Commenting through Blogger, Wordpress, ETC
For blog commenting and gaining viewers, ultimately trying to get more links, should I leave comments with the Name +URL or leave a comment with my twitter account? Which do you all feel would be more effective?
