New Backlinks by Week?
-
One of my competitors has recently got a surge of links and I need to work out where they've been focusing their efforts to make sure I don't get left behind.
The only method I've really got at the moment is looking at saved reports from OSE and trying to find new links between them. This is obviously time consuming and has some odd results (Old content showing up only on newer reports for example and have to ensure that each weeks report is generated exactly the same).
What I really need is a weekly output of where 2 or 3 websites have been gaining links. Can anyone recommend any tools that can help me with this?
Thanks

I use advanced links manager (I also use linkscape and seo majestic too). Advanced links manager tracks new links from previous update. This data is be available in linkscape too, methinks.

Thanks for the quick response, can you give me a little bit more information please?
Which program from Majestic are you using and how?
-
I use SEO Majestic as well as Open Site Explorer. Go try out the free program, and see what you think.

Need advise/strategy for cleaning up backlinks to my site
I recently redesigned my website (studio35design.com), and with that, I'm finally paying attention to SEO. I used a few different tools to find the amount of backlinking domains I've built up through the 7 or so years. The numbers are the following: 52 Total Backlinking Domains (800+ links):
Moz Pro | | rubennunez
• 17 of those are from blog commenting - they are pretty much all NF
• 20 of those are from sitewide footer credits on websites I've built. They are all old, as I stopped adding sitewide links to my client sites over a year ago.
• 7 of those are from spam. My site was hacked last year which contributed to alot of it. I've since then completely scrapped my old site and built this one on webflow (Not self-hosted like my old WP site).
• The other 10 or so are from forums, and the odd photo credit. As you can tell, almost none of these backlinks links are really any good. I'm surprised that my DA is 27 really. So moving forward, I need to know the best strategy dealing with these "bad" links. For the spam, I'm going to disavow in google webmasters. As for the rest, here are my questions... QUESTION 1:
As for the sitewide links, would the best thing be to remove the link altogether from the footer of each one of those sites? Some I can't because they are really old, and I don't have access to them (I'll probably disavow), but the rest I can still go in and update. QUESTION 2:
Will removing a ton of links at once hurt my DA and my google ranking? I can probably eliminate 500-600 links within a few days just by removing the sitewide links. How quickly can I expect those links to drop off? A few months? QUESTIONS 3:
Should I disavow blog commenting links even though they are NF? Does it matter at all? QUESTION 4:
I noticed 5 or so of the domains I have links one aren't working domains anymore. How quickly can I expect those links to drop off? Thanks in advance for your help.0 -
New Mozscape index released! Learn just what's been going on.
Hi everyone, I'm very, very pleased to announce that the latest Mozscape index has been released five days ahead of schedule, and it's back up to the quality you expect from Moz! It's no secret that we've struggled this year with our index. I can't overstate how much we appreciate everyone sticking with us—we know how hard this has been. The good news—well, apart from the early release—is that we've worked out the issue, and we expect to finally be back on track moving forward. Director of Engineering Martin York has shared a post to the Moz blog explaining just what's been going so wrong, and outlining our plan for the future. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for being such an incredible community. As for the folks who are seeing Domain Authority and Page Authority drops since the index release, please see Rand's recent post for more.

Has anyone else experience their Domain Authority Drop in the last 2 weeks to their sites
Has anyone else experienced their Domain Authority Score Drop in the last 2 weeks. I have 6 sites and all of their DA dropped between 2-4 points. At the beginning I thought it was just my Wordpress sites, but it happened to all my sites. If anyone has any answers, please enlighten me. Is it Google? Last time this happened was in March 2013 and raised all the scores back up and now as of lately, they all have dropped. Kin Regards, David

Hey from a New guy to SEO
Hi everybody!!! Hope everybody is dandy. Have spent a long time looking into SEOmoz and decided to just take the plunge and see what happens. Im quite new to the world of SEO but I really want to get good at it. Hoping Moz and this community will aid with this! Currently in the process of reading the SEO beginners guide and the SEOmoz user guide! The two sites that I am currently working on are: 1. www.advanced-incar.co.uk 2. www.advanced-incarcamerasystems.com The first site seems to have crawled well and have entered my competitors and am getting some info back (looks like I have a lot of work to do judging by the errors D'oh) In the world of Google what is the best way to ensure you have authority on certain terms. For instance if I search advanced-incar we are top and we have all our sitelinks underneath etc etc, but when I search advanced incar we are second and as such we don't display sitelinks. Any ideas? The second site was built using 1&1 and gives us a good little site for what we need. I have found out through research the most popular keywords are in car camera & in car cameras. Currently Im using Adwords to get us sponsored hits which is getting us some nice traffic but costing a bit. Those are the two main keywords i want this site to really hit home with. Any advice? Also on this site, when I go to SEOmoz and select Link Analysis I get no info. It just shows 0 or 0.0 wheras my competitor sites all have values against them. Is something wrong with my site or what im doing? (Have added an example screenshot) I appreciate its a long ended question but would really appreciate some help. Hoping that the guides will help me understand all this linkjuice stuff etc as well! Thanks guys, really appreciative of any info you can provide. Is Opensiteexplorer.org missing a lot of backlink data?
I was checking a few of my clients backlinks that recently got hit by the "penguin" update to possibly try and remove some of the potentially spammy links. I ran reports in both opensiteexplorer.org and majesticseo and majesticseo brings back a ton more links, and these are sites that don't even have the max 10,000 backlinks that OSE should be bringing back. Does OSE bring back reliable backlink data? I'm starting to wonder.

What does this error mean when starting a new campaign
hi just about to start a new campaign to i can monitor my website and i get this message up but not sure what this means. Roger has detected a problem: We have detected that the domain www.headlineplus.com and the domain headlineplus.com both respond to web requests and do not redirect. Having two "twin" domains that both resolve forces them to battle for SERP positions, making your SEO efforts less effective. We suggest redirecting one, then entering the other here. can anyone please let me know why this message comes up please

How do I find questions with new responses?
I'm really enjoying hanging out here so far. I was wondering if there is an easy way to find out which of the discussions that I am taking part in have new responses in them. I know I get an email whenever a question I have subscribed to gets an answer, but is there a way to see this when I am on the website? I see that I can go to "My questions" and "Questions I have asked" or "Questions I have answered" but on that screen it doesn't tell me which one(s) of those questions have new answers. Am I missing something?
