Scoop it is anyone using this social networking site to generate traffic
-
hi i have just come across scoop it http://www.scoop.it/t/gastric-band-hypnotherapy which is a magazine site where you can post items and news and i would like to know if anyone is using this to generate traffic for their site and generate links.
I cam across it after finding out that links were coming to my site from the network and this morning i have signed up as a free member to try it but there are paid options. I would like to know if anyone is using it and how successful it has been for them

chris just been reading your info on the link your provided. can you tell me more as what i do not understand is, do you post all the content from a page. so if i had a page on my site about losing weight with smoothies, would i post the whole article or just part of it and then have a link back to my site for people to read the rest of it.

I recently wrote a guide to link building and traffic generation using Scoop.it
http://www.rootswebsolutions.com/social-media/content-curation-web-traffic-scoopit/
It's just been promoted to the Scoop.it's own account.
There are people on Scoop.it who already receive hundreds of page views per day to their pages.
So by suggesting your own content to their page you have a chance that your post will be accepted and a good percentage of their fellow Scoopers will come flooding to your site and re-scoop your page to their followers and other social networks too.

Thanks for that. Are there other sites like that out there as i would like to write a number of articles to try and increase our profile and at the same time gain a link

Sites like that can benefit you in 2 ways.
1. Just as another link back to your website.
2. As a piece of content valuable for the community.
The 2nd option is more preferable. Write something that has value to the audience of that website and link back to your website, if your site is related. You put yourself in the same ecosystem, and have a high chance to increase the conversions.

Remove Social Side Bar?
We recently had a site-redesign and since have lost traffic. We’re currently trying to clean up our code and improve site speed (which we know has become a very big problem). One of the things we tested was removing the social side bar. With that gone, our page speed, file size and requests to the page all improved greatly. And other than the homepage, we don’t see a lot of action on the social side bar with our internal category and subcategory pages. With side bar: http://www.motivators.com/ Without: http://www.motivators.com/Trade-Show-Giveaways.html We resubmitted the Trade Show Giveaways page to Google Webaster Tools yesterday and saw a 22-spot jump in ranking by this morning! Given the circumstances, would it be unwise for us to remove that social side bar? Would it hurt us to lose those signals in the long run despite the overnight jump? Which is the lesser of two evils?

Increasing Unbranded Organic Traffic
What do people think is the best way to increase unbranded organic traffic specifically? We have worked on on-page optimisation / keywords / some social media, but there has been no noticeable increase over the last 6 months. Do you think increasing unbranded traffic is an objective worth pursuing?

Rel=author and rel=publisher - what to use?
Hi guys i have a big e-commerce website, we have put rel=publisher on our homepage and linked it up with our google + profile. We sell holidays and have a big resort guide full of quality content, do i need to put rel=publisher on those too? It doesn't seem right to put a personal author with a personal google + page on content as the author. Do i simply as a business page use rel=publisher instead? Any advice much appreciated, i find this confusing in all honesty on what benefits the most.

How do you generate followers on twitter?
Hi, How do you generate followers on twitter? I see a lot of people are saying follow others to gain more followers, use #tags and engage with other peoples tweets. But with the last point, all the tweets I find under search are spam. As an example, if you searched 'SEO' all you are going to get is lots of ' view this article' type tweets. It's almost like there is more business/spam then actual real people. Cheers

Social Media Signals with AddThis?
Good day guys, Just a quick question. By having the AddThis sharing tool to share content such as blogs, does it still send the same social signals to Google as you would get by having the official Facebook/Twitter plug-ins? Regards

Does anyone see any merchantcircle backlinks showing up in OSE reports for themselves or their clients?
Just got around to looking for a client's link on merchantcircle and didn't see it, so I looked for some other client's links from there and they don't show up either. Am I the last one to notice this?

SEO w/o Social Webinair experiment - how can RTs of a URL of a google search possibly affect the position of one of the search results?
I missed the webinair but have just been going through the slides. Looking forward to watching the video when its up. I have a question however regarding the experiment conducted by Rand to find out: Is Social Influencing Primary Algorithms (slides 7 - 20) The suggestion is that an RT of a google search URL affects the ranking of one individual ranking site. The +1 side of the experiment I understand completely - it is clear how Google can see that there is a social preference for the site and reward accordingly. But how would retweeting the search result URL possibly affect its rankings? Is the suggestion that those doing the experiment also clicked on the relevant link? And if so, how is Google discerning that this additional traffic is down to Twitter? I feel I am missing something incredibly obvious. Anyone want to help me out here?... otherwise I'm not going to sleep tonight...
