Question about content on ecommerce pages.
-
Long time ago we hired a seo company to do seo in our website and one of the things they did is that they wrote long text on the category pages of our products.
Example here:
http://www.theprinterdepo.com/refurbished-printers/wide-format-laser-refurbished-printers
Now my marketing person is saying that if its possible to put the text below the items, technically I will find out how to do it, but from your seo experience, is it good or bad?
What about if we short those texts to one paragraph only?
Thanks

I'd go for the content at the top too normally as you want your keyword rich content to be as close to the top of the page so that it is treated as a little more relevant.
That said, there is quite a lot of text and in this case I can see that visitors might arrive on the page and only see the text above the fold. In which case I might look at a compromise of splitting the content with some above the items and some below.
Don't just think about the SEO value, but also about how your actual human visitors are going to experience the site.
I'd also surpress the text on the second+ pages on the navigation. People don't need to read it every time and there's a risk of duplicate content issues.

As a personal opinion I would go for having the content in top. I know that is an old issue, and I might not be updated regarding this matter... BUT there was a time when indeed it really helped to have your optimized content in top.

but the location of the text does not matter? wheter if its in the top or in the bottom after the products?
-
From my experience, if the content is well written and it adds value for users you will only benefit from it.
This way you will have Unique, descriptive text on the product search page and it makes easier to optimize for.
Hope that helped,
Istvan

Question about spammy links to 404 Pages we never created ...
FYI I'm a beginner within the company, so this might be a basic question, but ...I was going through open site explorer and checking www.partnermd.com for opportunities to reclaim links and I found a bunch of 404 pages that we never created that had nothing to do with the business. Out of curiousity, I plugged in one of the weird links like this one:http://www.partnermd.com/images/2015-best-space-heater-best-wers.html into open site explorer and found several bad spammy links pointing to it. When I clicked on one of them I got a notice that the site might have been hacked.I did some research and it looks like Google doesn't penalize you for spammy links to 404 pages, but how do we prevent this from occurring in the first place if possible?

Moving Some Content From Page A to Page B
Page A has written content, pictures, videos. The written content from Page A is being moved to Page B. When Google crawls the pages next time around will Page B receive the content credit? Will there not be any issues that this content originally belonged to Page A? Page A is not a page I want to rank for (just have great pictures and videos for users). Can I 301 redirect from Page A to B since the written content from A has been deleted or no need? Again, I intent to keep Page A live because good value for users to see pictures and videos.

Splitting Page Authority with two URLs for the same page.
Hello guys, My website is currently holding two different URLs for the same page and I am under the impression such set up is dividing my Page Authority and Link Juice. We currently have the following page with both URLs below: www.wbresearch.com/soldiertechnologyusa/home.aspx
Technical SEO | | JoaoPdaCosta-WBR
www.wbresearch.com/soldiertechnologyusa/ Analysing the page authority and backlinks I identified that we are splitting the amount of backlinks (links from sites, social media and therefore authority). "/home.aspx"
PA: 67
Linking Root Domains: 52
Total Links: 272 "/"
PA: 64
Linking Root Domains: 29
Total Links: 128 I am under the impression that if the URLs were the same we would maximise our backlinks and therefore page authority. My Question: How can I fix this? Should I have a 301 redirect from the page "/" to the "/home.aspx" therefore passing the authority and link juice of “/” directly to “/homes.aspx”? Trying to gather thoughts and ideas on this, suggestions are much appreciated? Thanks!0 -
Fixing Duplicate Pages Titles/Content
I have a DNN site, which I created friendly URL's for; however, the creation of the friendly URL's then created duplicate page content and titles. I was able to fix all but two URL's with rel="canonical" links. BUT The two that are giving me the most issues are pointing to my homepage. When I added the rel = "canonical" link the page then becomes not indexable. And for whatever reason, I can't add a 301 redirect to the homepage because it then gives me "can't display webpage" error message. I am new to SEO and to DNN, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I know I'm missing pages with my page level 301 re-directs. What can I do?
I am implementing page level re-directs for a large site but I know that I will inevitably miss some pages. Is there an additional safety net root level re-direct that I can use to catch these pages and send them to the homepage?
