Keyword affected by the following word, forming a keyphrase?
-
This came to my mind:
Can word(s) immediately following a keyword hurt the ranking for that keyword, if they together form a phrase known to Google? Should I avoid keyphrases to rank better for a single keyword?
Let's say that I have a website that ranks very well for the keyword "rice". The home page title and headline might be "Rice around the world". Now let's assume I change the "around the world" to "pudding", making the title "Rice pudding", which is in fact one of the keyphrases suggested by Google Instant when one types "rice". Is it possible that Google now decides the page should not rank well for the generic "rice" search any more, because it is not about rice as such but rice pudding, and as a result the ranking for the "rice" search suffers?
This would probably make sense in some cases. A "flights to Hawaii" page should not rank very highly for a generic "flights" search, but just that specific search. However a "flights online" page might be all right to rank as high as any, if the meaning is understood (in all languages).

Hello,
You're getting it right. If your generical keyword is trasnformed into a new one, more specific, Mr. Google is going to give it a different value.
But if the thing "rice pudding" is what everyone that types jsut "rice" searchs, so it won't be a problem.
And if you put two words together, one keyword and one without meaning, you're not going to be so relevant only by it.
For example: SEOMaster, is clearly SEO + Master.
SEOMoz is not that clear, because the second word has no meaning, and Google will try to understand anything but SEO, so it won't bring much points as the one above.
Hope it helps,
;]

Homepage keyword changing strategy
Hi! We're a spanish construction company and we've been positioning our home with the keyword "wooden homes". We also have a specific landing page positioned with that same keyword. Right now we are getting out of a penguin and panda penalization and we're doing well. As part of a rebranding strategy we are thinking of changing our homepage keyword to "luxury homes". We are still going to hace the "wooden houses" landing page but this keyword is just going to be present in its own landing. The new keyword has much more volume of search than the one we have right now. Is there a strategy you can recomend us for this rebranding? Thanks

Is the Adwords keywords planner accurate ?
Hey guyz,
Keyword Research | | atakala
As you guyz do, I base all my seo effort into the keywords' traffic and quality which I can get from Adwords Keywords Planner.
But this post has confused my mind .
It' says the average searches doesn't exactly the average searches.
And everything is okay here now I can say that of course it's not %100 accurate.
But the shocking part is he gives an example of how a big gap there is between real searches number and adwords keywords planner tools give us . What do you think guyz?
Can it be true ?
(And also last time I asked a question, Randy has replied me, If possible please Randy do it again :D.)

Number of keywords to optimise per web page?
Hi Guys, I am new to SEOmoz and just finding my way around the site. I currently have two websites up both in wordpress and both using SEO Yoast for keyword / page analysis. SEO Yoast software basically only allows you to have 1 page / blog post optimised for 1 keyphrase. If you try to put the same keyphrase in 2 + times for different pages or posts then Yoast flags it up as not good for SEO purposes. Is this correct? Also how do massive websites go on when previously they would have optimised many web pages / blogs for the same keywords?

What does it mean when two keywords in Google's Keyword Research Tool have exactly the same amount of searches?
The two keywords are [publicity] and [product placement] (both in exact search - not broad) and have 22,200 searches each. Is it purely coincidental or are the two keywords kind of related in Google's eyes and that's why we're seeing the same amount of searches for each?
