Importance of keyword in the content to rank well
-
Well, I am very beginner seo.
our website is www.theprinterdepo.com and our main keyword for the moment is refurbished printers, but there might be hundreds of more keywords.
I was analyzing the SERPs and found that for our keyword, the first 2 websites that come up have very different content
1.http://www.geeks.com/products.asp?cat=PRN
They rank first, but I dont see a lot of text with the keyword in their text or links
2. http://www.valstarprinters.com/
They mention the keywords lots of times in the text, probably they are doing keyword stuffing?
So this makes me thing, how the 1st one ranked there? just by link builiding?

I suppose less competitive keywords would be the product specific keywords
hp 1320 printer, or its variations.

geeks.com do have the keywords all over the page. Each printer item has the word "refurbished" in it (I counted 11 times). They have both a high domain authority (73) and high page authority (58). They have the keywords in their Title too.
The keyword phrase "refurbished printers" looks pretty competitive to me and I suspect your site/page just doesn't have the authority to compete at the moment.
Looking at the introduction on your Refurbished Printers page - it doesn't read very well and looks/feels rather stuffed with keywords and not a natural way of writing and maybe a little "overcooked".
I'd think of ways you can build more links, offer more genuinely unique/useful content and maybe look at less competitive niches you can target while you do this. Are there any low-hanging fruit out there keyword wise?

Sudden Drop in Rankings
I manage a site and this past month have noticed some pretty significant drops in rankings for some of our main keywords. I'm trying to understand why and what I can do to correct it. We did do some 301 redirects a little over a month ago so I've been wondering if that has anything to do with it as Google indexes the new URLs. One thing I did notice in Moz is that it is showing that Google is indexing the new URLs but associating them with the wrong keywords in the wrong location. The company services three locations and each location has a service page on the site. But Moz is showing that in Atlanta, the indexed URL is the Nashville one, etc. Is there any way to affect that? Another thing to note is that organic search traffic is actually up so it doesn't appear to be affecting them which I find a bit strange. Just looking for any insight as to things I should be looking into to explain the sudden drops. Thanks!

When is Duplicate Content Duplicate Content
Hi, I was wondering exactly when duplicate content is duplicate content? Is it always when it is word-for-word or if it is similar? For example, we currently have an information page and I would like to add a FAQ to the website. There is, however, a crossover with the content and some of it is repeated. However, it is not written word for word. Could you please advise me? Thanks a lot Tom

Duplicate Content?
My site has been archiving our newsletters since 2001. It's been helpful because our site visitors can search a database for ideas from those newsletters. (There are hundreds of pages with similar titles: archive1-Jan2000, archive2-feb2000, archive3-mar2000, etc.) But, I see they are being marked as "similar content." Even though the actual page content is not the same. Could this adversely affect SEO? And if so, how can I correct it? Would a separate folder of archived pages with a "nofollow robot" solve this issue? And would my site visitors still be able to search within the site with a nofollow robot?

Hi, Just wanted to know, linking to unrelated content will harm the site? I know linking to unrelated content is not good. But wanted to know weather any chances are there or not. I have a site related to health and the other one related to technology. The technology site is too good having PR 6 and very good strong backlinks. And the health related site has very much tough competition, So i wanted to know may be i could link this health site to technology site to get good link from it.
