Social Media Monitoring not working
-
Hi there,
Anyone having problems with the Blogscape Social Media Monitoring tool or is it just me?
I've tried it in 3 different browsers (Safari, Firefox and Chrome) but all show the same thing: a white rectangle (where I supposed it would be a graph). If I type anything on the box at the top and hit enter, the text box gets emptied. Typing something and then changing the time (from 2 weeks to 1 month, for example), produces no result. Thanks

Yes buddy, too bad for us. It seems is not just you and me though. According to Nick, the tool is currently broken.
Hopefully Nick will get it working for us in no time

Hi Nick,
Thanks for your reply. To be honest, since the Social Media tool is right below the Keywork Tool and look just like it, I didn't realize it was still a Labs tool.
Hope you guys can get it at least partially working anytime soon.
Cheers,
Leni Neto

Hey Leni,
Unfortunately, that Labs tool is still broken, but for a good reason! We're working on a new version that should get put up sometime soon. Unfortunately, I don't have a date for the release, but I think it'll be sometime this month. We don't really support the Labs tools since they're alpha state, but I'll do what I can to get it up fast!
Have a great day,
Nick

On Page Grading Not Working
I am not getting any results in on page grading. When I click on add keywords a list of keywords appears that I have previously entered. They have tick boxes next to them and you can filter them but SEO moz is not automtically creating grade reports? Any ideas? Obviously I've set it up wrong somehow.

I get 401 Your authentication failed, my application has worked for 2 years.
I have an old link request application which i have restarted. I have regenerated the api key, however i get 401 Your authentication failed on request. The test signature works and returns my account no. Here is my request: http://lsapi.seomoz.com/linkscape/links/www.screwfix.com%2F?AccessID=member-12345678&Expires=1357316478&Signature=12345678910&Scope=page_to_subdomain&Sort=page_authority&SourceCols=133982846973 I have replaced my memberID and signature with dummy data to protect my credentials. Is my request string correct? Also where can i get the expiry parameter?

This stuff works - but be patient
..or subtitled "This is how I did it" Managed to get clients second most important keyword to #1 on Google recently (most important is about 5 or 6, am getting there with that one) 🙂 Yes, we all know 'rankings aren't important, traffic/searches are' but you know what - when a Client sees their keyword at #1 it kinda helps getting paid. Thus, in summary, this is how I did it. I don't think there's anything earth shattering here but it might help a few out as I see so many 'where do i start' type posts. 1 - Do everything within Webmaster Tools that is humanly possible. Sitemaps, fix errors, preferred domain the lot. Spend ages here! 2 - Get your on page optimisation sorted out. Decide on THE main keyword for page, fire it into your campaign and test it. Do not give up until it's an A and you've done ALL the tips/hints (yes, even bold text on the page.) It's obvious but you have to tell a Search Engine exactly what the page is about - and give it a few hints too. 3 - Links - ahhh, good old links the bain of our lives. This site was struggling for links so i bought some - yes, the shame of it. I still think the best directories are a good starting point, spent about £400 or so. (BOTW, JoeAnt, HotVsNot etc,) Also, find low hanging fruit places for links. See where top 3 or 4 competitors are getting links from (via OSE) and get your site linked there too. These aren't always chargeable. 4 - Get rid of as many errors you can from Crawl Diagnostics (Roger) and do everything you can to ensure page(s) load as quick as possible. e.g. for images, resize them and reduce colour depth. 5 - Go over Steps 1-4 again and again AND AGAIN. I think that's about it (will add anything if i think of it), this all took about 4-5 months - not to do the SEO work but for Google (or any SE) to recognise it all, so thanks to all at SEOmoz, the blogs and this forum for all the assistance. (Just need to get Linkscape updated quicker now folks - i couldn't resist that one!)

SEOmoz Keyword Ranking - Does it work for local search?
I was just wondering how SEOmoz calculates keyword rankings up and down every week. Shouldn't there be a way to have SEOmoz calculate rankings on a Local and Non-Local Basis? For example I have "Local Dentist" as a keyword in SEOmo for my dental client. SEOmoz shows that we are not in the Top 50. | Local dentist Keyword History Ranking Analysis | Not in Top 50 | Moved unknown 0 spaces | Not in Top 50 | Moved unknown 0 spaces | Not in Top 5 | If I change my location in Google browser to the zip of where the office is located, we

The "Social Media Monitoring" tool in research tools
I used this tool once and noticed it provided nice links to where listed keywords were posted in articles, forums, blogs, etc..., since that time @3 weeks ago... it lists an "error" to links and/or doesn't provide them in a linkable list below to access. Is this tool being worked on or will it be available in the future? Thank you.
