.com or .net what is the answer

Ok. My site has been running as whitetail-mafia.com for about 3 years now. I recently switched to a new host (had to say good bye to godaddy). In the change I switched the site to whitetail-mafia.net
I have whitetail-mafia.com, whitetailmafia.com, and whitetailmafia.net set for a 301 redirect to whitetail-mafia.net. I have recently transferred all of these to the same host now.
However, during my first run at OpenExplorer I found that the old site whitetail-mafia.com was carrying some good weight.
Did I shoot myself in the foot? Should I transfer everything back to .com and redirect to it since it has some history? Will my rankings for .com transfer over to the .net with the 301 redirect?
looking for the best advice here before I spend too much time having to rebuild...

Yes i'd swap back to the .com, also try and keep the link structure the same as your old site or you will lose all your current search engine traffic.

I would recommend going back to your .com address. It presumably has more inbound links, and has a longer history, both of which are going to make it the better performing domain name. That being said, 301 redirects can move a lot of your link juice, most estimates I hear are somewhere in the 90% ballpark. So if this is a technical challenge for you or would otherwise take a lot of time, it may not be worth it.
If you have the resources, move everything back to your original domain.

originally it was a development thing, because .com was on godaddy and I was bringing a new site up using .net on a new host. As of today I have transferred all domains to the new host.
The other reason is that we changed our name from Whitetail Mafia to Whitetail Mafia Outdoor Networks. The 3rd reason is .... I am a SEO dumby and finally learnign some of the stuff I should have learned a few years ago.
So do you recommend that I go back to .com? should be easy to do now, instead of later....

What was your reasoning for swapping to .net? It sounds like you need to keep your aged domain and 301 all your newly purchased domains over to it.

hi mozzers I have a client that has just released a .com version of their .co.uk website. They have basically re-skinned the .co.uk version with some US amends so all the content and title tags are the same. What you do recommend? Canonical tag to the .co.uk version? rewrite titles?

Hi I have a webshop for my own clothing and boots brand.

The boots brand is changing name soon and i will move it to another domain. I will off course 301 the boot related urls to the new domain to pass on link juice. But now i have the option to go for bootbrand.com/uk bootbrand.com/nl bootband.com/de or use the local tld which i own allready. Bootbrand.nl bootbrand.de etc Knowing that i own both .com and the local tld's what would be the best option for SEO?0 -
Am I Wasting my time using pingler.com
Ok so here is the question. A few months ago i decided to join pingler.com and pay for the service as i was using the free service, but after four months now i have not noticed any changes and i am just wondering if i am wasting my time using the paid service. would love to hear from people who have or are using the service and let me know if this is a waste of time and my money could be better spent elsewhere. look forward to hearing your thoughts

Can I put the tag in the MasterPage of my ASP.NET website or does this need to be specific to each page?

Home Page .index.htm and .com Duplicate Page Content/Title
I have been whittling away at the duplicate content on my clients' sites, thanks to SEOmoz's pro report, and have been getting push back from the account manager at register.com (the site was built here and the owner doesn't want to move it). He says these are the exact same page and he can't access one to redirect to the other. Any suggestions? Hi We are managing a .com site for a client working on getting the site ranking. The site is hosted in the US. The content is rich, deep and unique. The site is in a competitive market but had begun ranking top 50 for a selection of keywords and we could see many more in the top 100. The site is now going backwards and only has a few keywords ranking top 50 and all the others have disappeared from the rankings all together. Any thought as to what could cause this. The site is managed from the Uk but as mentioned is hosted in the US. No penguin issues as all content unique, rich, relevant and fresh. SEO is also managed from the UK. Thoughts

.us domains vs .com - What does Google Think?
Suppose I had 2 domains, carloans.us & carloans.com with exactly the same links profiles, and content (not duplicate but you know what I mean). Would Google favour the .com domain? In my experience, yes. But I might be wrong?
