Retargeting questions
-
The question is in reference to SEOmoz post -
http://www.seomoz.org/blog/retargeting-basics-what-it-is-how-to-use-it 1. What is the size of a retargeting pixel and who places it on the site ? Is it the retargeting company ? Can we place it ourselves ? Does a code have to be added to the site ? 2. In the post mentioned above, the author talks about "burn pixel"
"If a person in your audience converts then a "burn pixel" will fire"
What do you mean by burn pixel ?
How do we come to know that a burn pixel has fired ?

The retargeting pixel is simply a way to record a cookie to the users computer. When you setup the retargeting campaign either through google or some other method, you should be given a code to add to your site.
What do you mean by burn pixel ?
When a user converts and you no longer wish to target them, you can send another pixel (cookie) to identify which users have already converted, somewhat disabling the previous cookie.
How do we come to know that a burn pixel has fired ?
The burn pixel is placed on the users computer in the same way that the original pixel was placed, they load the screen with the page with the "burn pixel" and it's stored on their computer.

Backlink Question
Hello. I have an eCommerce Flower Shop Website and I have created an Online Free Game so player can create flower arrangement and stuff like that. If I had this game directly on my website and provide Embed Code so other Online Gaming Portals can add the game to their website. Would it be good to create back links for my website and increase my domain authority and SEO of my Flower Shop website? I ask because I am also in the Gaming industry and when I release my games, they can be added to hundreds of other gaming portals. But I am just afraid that since this is not is the same domain activity, this might hurt my SEO for my flower website. What are your thoughts about that?

Ecommerce Rich Snippets Category Question
Hello Technical question: I have category pages in my site - and product pages in my site. Category Pages I Have listed Grouped products on them ( i.e. a product that could have multiple offers for each size ) I Have the relevant markup for them ( one for each product ) . Product Pages The Product pages have grouped products as well - but the individual simple products are note marked up. The Product pages have Aggregate reviews on them. My question is this: Should I use the grouped product sku to identify the grouped product on the category page and the product page? Technically they aren't Stock Keeping Units ( SKU's ) - but they could be used to link the 2 together to avoid duplicates. Ideas?

SSL and robots.txt question - confused by Google guidelines
I noticed "Don’t block your HTTPS site from crawling using robots.txt" here: http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.co.uk/2014/08/https-as-ranking-signal.html Does this mean you can't use robots.txt anywhere on the site - even parts of a site you want to noindex, for example?

Question regarding geo-targeting in Google Webmaster Tools.
I understand that it's possible to target both domains/subdomains and subfolders to different geographical regions in GWT. However, I was wondering about the effect of targeting the domain to a single country, say the UK. Then targeting subfolders to other regions (say the US and France). e.g. www.domain.com -> UK

www.domain.com/us -> US
www.domain.com/fr -> France etc Would it be better to leave the main domain without a geographical target but set geo-targeting for the subfolders? Or would it be best to set geo-targeting for both the domain and subfolders.0 -
Domain Name Redirect Question
My agency just built a new website for a client who is a franchisee. It's not launched yet - it's currently under an IP address. I suggested to client that he buy a keyword-rich domain name for it, which he did. Then he found out that the franchisor will not allow it to be his main domain name. They want him to use a domain name with the franchisor name in it. But they WILL allow him to put a 301 redirect on that franchisor-approved domain name, and redirect it to his keyword-rich domain name. He is interested in having my agency perform an SEO Campaign for this new website. But would SEO and link marketing work for a website that has a new non-keyword domain name that 301 redirects to a new keyword-rich domain name?

Google Business Places SEO Question
Hi All, I have set up different Google Business Places listings for each of my locations for my business. I want each location to rank for their retrospective keywords. So from an SEO point of view to help these rank.. When choosing Keywords/Categories for my listing , should I use my main keyword + my location example - I have a carpet cleaner hire depot in London and I want to rank for London so should my keyword be just carpet cleaner hire or Carpet Cleaner Hire London. My other depot is say in the location of Watford so should that listing have keywords that contain Watford in them ?. Also - Should the description contain my localised keywords ? I have looked around and cant' find much on this topic Any pointers would be greatly appreciated thanks Sarah

Are videos content to Google bot? and other questions.
It seems as though my site has been hit, possibly because of above the fold adverts or lack of content above the fold, so I have a number of questions regarding this. 1. Are videos regarded as content by Google Bot? 2. If three adverts are placed above the fold with text content clearly readable. Will these three adverts still affect my search engine rankings? 3. Is it better to put text before the video and have the video placed a bit lower? 4. I have a number of pages that have video but no text, could these pages combine to decrease the value of my best landing pages? thanks 😄

Worldwide Stores - Duplicate Content Question
Hello, We recently added new store views for our primary domain for different countries. Our primary url: www.store.com Different Countries URLS: www.store.com/au www.store.com/uk www.store.com/nz www.store.com/es And so forth and so on. This resulted in an almost immediate rankings drop for several keywords which we feel is a result of duplicate content creation. We've thousands of pages on our primary site. We've assigned a "no follow" tags to all store views for now, and trying to roll back the changes we did. However, we've seen some stores launching in different countries with same content, but with a country specific extensions like .co.uk, .co.nz., .com.au. At this point, it appears we have three choices: 1. Remove/Change duplicate content in country specific urls/store views. 2. Launch using .co.uk, .com.au with duplicate content for now. 3. Launch using .co.uk, .com.au etc with fresh content for all stores. Please keep in mind, option 1, and 3 can get very expensive keeping hundreds of products in untested territories. Ideally, we would like test first and then scale. However, we'd like to avoid any duplicate penalties on our main domain. Thanks for your help and answers on the same.
