Duplicate page content due to Sort By dropdown
-
Hi there,
I have over 150 Duplicate Page Title errors showing up in SEOMoz but on closer inspection these are related to the 'Sort By:' functionality on our ecommerce site that allows customers to sort our products by Price, Alphabetically etc.
To give an example:
http://www.parklanechampagne.co.uk/park-lane-champagne/special-occasions/easter
Is showing as being duplicated by this page:
Does anyone know how I can resolve this? Any help greatly appreciated.
Kind regards, Jon

I have the same problem In my moz analytics, but with canonical tag set. I think the moz analytics should detect when a canonical tag is set and ignore the 'sortby, datecut, order' and other inputs, as duplicate contents.

Thanks Alan for the speedy response! Since posting I've also found this Google link: http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=139394 which elaborates a little on your reply. Thanks again, Jon

you need to use a canonical tag, to show that they are all the same page.

Hello.
Moz Pro | | livedigm
When I try to use 'On Page Grader' on specific site, I get an error message. "
Page Optimization Error
There was a problem loading this page. Please make sure the page is loading properly and that our user-agent, rogerbot, is not blocked from accessing this page.
"
example : https://www.livedigm.com Site's robots.txt settings are good. and I think there's no blocking factor. But On Page Grader cannot crawl the sites.
But campaign crawler is working well on the site. only On Page Grader is not working.. What should I change my server's setting or site's setting for crawling site on my site?
I'm using wordpress on cloudways / Digitalocean(singapore) server. Thank you.0 -
Duplicate content across two websites
Hi. I'm looking at ways to compare duplicate content across two different websites instead of one, as with the Moz crawler. Instead it will flag up up duplicates present on both site A and B.

Can't figure out why some of my pages are duplicate content
Within the crawl diagnostics area I'm getting duplicate page content issues on several pages. I don't know why, would anyone be able to tell me how these links are duplicate so I can fix them? http://www.sagenews.ca/Column.asp?id=3010 http://www.sagenews.ca/Column.asp?id=2808 http://www.sagenews.ca/Column.asp?id=2998 http://www.sagenews.ca/Column.asp?id=2837 http://www.sagenews.ca/Column.asp?id=2981

Grade F pages - all first in Google
Any anyone explain what value the Grade pages are if, as in my case, I have 9 Grade F pages of which 4 are in first position on Google, 1 is in second and the rest are 4th! I understand why SEOM might be flagging them as Grade F (keyword use in tags etc), but it seems it must be looking at the wrong clues if it still thinks that its recommendations are the most relevant to improving position. These are not obscure terms (Spy devices, electronic surveillance, spy systems, surveillance systems) for a UK site (www.spycatcheronline.co.uk) I appreciate that the points highlighted may need to be addressed, but clearly the pages/site are doing something right to come first - does this not devalue the whole Grade system on SEOM? Duplicate pages with canonical links still show as errors
On our CMS, there are duplicate pages such as /news, /news/, /news?page=1, /news/?page=1. From an SEO perspective, I'm not too worried, because I guess Google is pretty capable of sorting this out, but to be on the safe side, I've added canonical links. /news itself has no link, but all the other variants have links to "/news". (And if you go wild and add a bunch of random meaningless parameters, creating /news/?page=1&jim=jam&foo=bar&this=that, we will laugh at you and generate a canonical link back to "/news". We're clever like that.) So far so good. And everything appears to work fine. But SEOMoz is still flagging up errors about duplicate titles and duplicate content. If you click in, you'll see a "Note" on each error, showing that SEOMoz has found the canonical link. So SEOMoz knows the duplication isn't a problem, as we're using canonical links exactly the way they're supposed to be used, and yet is still flagging it as an error. Is this something I should be concerned about, or is it just a bug in SEOMoz?

What is the best method to solve duplicate page content?
The issue I am having is an overwhelmingly large number of pages on cafecartel.com show that they have duplicate page content. But when I check the errors on SEOmoz it shows that the duplicate content is from www.cafecartel.com not cafecartel.com. So first of all, does this mean that there are two sites? and is this a problem I can fix easily? (i.e. redirecting the URL and deleting the extra pages) Is this going to make all other SEO useless due to the fact that it shows that nearly every page has duplicate page content? Or am I just completely reading the data wrong?

SEOmoz Bot indexing JSON as content
Hello, We have a bunch of pages that contain local JSON we use to display a slideshow. This JSON has a bunch of<a links="" in="" it. <="" p=""></a> <a links="" in="" it. <="" p="">For some reason, these</a><a links="" that="" are="" in="" json="" being="" indexed="" and="" recognized="" by="" the="" seomoz="" bot="" showing="" up="" as="" legit="" for="" page. <="" p=""></a> <a links="" that="" are="" in="" json="" being="" indexed="" and="" recognized="" by="" the="" seomoz="" bot="" showing="" up="" as="" legit="" for="" page. <="" p="">One example page this is happening on is: http://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a2591-simplifies-product-logos . Searching for the string '<a' yields="" 1100+="" results="" (all="" of="" which="" are="" recognized="" as="" links="" for="" that="" page="" in="" seomoz),="" however,="" ~980="" these="" json="" code="" and="" not="" actual="" on="" the="" page.="" this="" leads="" to="" a="" lot="" invalid="" our="" site,="" super="" inflated="" count="" on-page="" page. <="" span=""></a'></a> <a links="" that="" are="" in="" json="" being="" indexed="" and="" recognized="" by="" the="" seomoz="" bot="" showing="" up="" as="" legit="" for="" page. <="" p="">Is this a bug in the SEOMoz bot? and if not, does google work the same way?</a>
