Duplicate Page Content and Title - Miva - How to fix?
-
Hi,
I'm new to SEOmoz and just diving into it. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. I use Miva Merchant as my storefront interface. SEMOz is returning a bunch of duplicate page content and duplicate page titles and I can't figure out what to do about it. It seems it may have something to do with Miva shortlinks. I click on the dup URL's in SEMOz and it brings me to a dead page. I can't figure out where it's coming from.
I know without seeing the actual information it'll probably be tough to help me but any suggestions would be appreciated. I try to fix them and come to a point (after about three hours of getting nowhere) it becomes too frustrating.
Thanks!

Possibly. Another possibility is that it doesn't even matter - I recall you said that the URL's from OSE landed you on dead (presumably 404) pages. So if the duplicate content is not actually there in reality (ie, when you visit the page), it might just be an error or an artifact of OSE's crawl procedures meeting with some weird code in Miva.
But yeah if you feel like hiring a "Miva pro" is what you need to do then that could be a good idea too - I'm really not in a position to say either way, with my lack of experience with the software and all.
Best of luck anyway.

Hi Clancy,
Thanks for your input. I have tried the Miva tech support and they know less about it then I do! Although Miva has been pretty good. I do have access to all the coding and they offer free classes from time to time for Miva coding. But I'm a newbie at code/css and the like. It seems I may have to pay a Miva pro to figure it out.

This is why it can be frustrating to work with third party platforms that don't afford you a huge level of control or customization at the code level. Assuming it's not canonicalization issues?
I haven't used Miva personally, so I don't know much about that specifically. Have you already taken up the matter with their support department?

API for On Page tool
I'm looking for a tool similar to On Page Grader (Moz) or Focus Keyword (Yoast) with API. We are building out or internal CRM system. Even though none of these tools can replace manual on page analysis, it will be used as a metric and to catch human mistakes.

Keyword Stuffing - MOZ On-Page Grader
We sell a great number of insulation products, many of which are produced by individual manufacturers. On the page identified below the Keyword "Kingspan" is repeated numerous times as these items are included in our online shop. However, the many mentions of Kingspan are recorded in the HTML5 Source Code, rather than an external database. When I used the MOZ On-Page Grader, using the keywords "Kingspan" I was surprised to achieve an "A" Grade! I know I shouldn't be complaining, but I am wondering why the significant repetition of the word "Kingspan" has not negatively impacted my score? http://www.just-insulation.com/001-eshop/buy-kingspan-thermapitch-thermawall-thermafloor-insulation-boards.html

On-Page Report Card Questions
First post here, a couple questions as I work through some of the SEOMOZ tool reporting, specifically the On-page Report Card. I've just received the report results yesterday, so working through the data now. There are two issues categorized as critical by the tool: (1) The grader is stating I don't have any instances of the target keyword in my page title, yet it's there. (The page title is too long, but I'm in the process of hacking the blog software to fix this, it's auto-generated by the CMS.) (2) It's also saying under "Broad Keyword Usage in Document" that I have zero instances of the keyword in the body text, and while I certainly don't have enough, there is at least one instance at the bottom of the blog post. All the text is contained with tags. (3) Related to #2, what's the difference between "Appropriate Keyword Usage in Document" under "High Importance Factors" and "Broad Keyword Usage in Document" under "Critical Factors"

Can't find duplicate page content
Hi all. I'm trying to create a report to list all of my site's duplicate content that SEOmoz says we have. However when I click on the link it just shows me the title and description of the page. I don't know what the other page is that has duplicate content or what the duplicate content is. Where do I find this information? Thanks in advance!

Why does Crawl Diagnostics report this as duplicate content?
Hi guys, we've been addressing a duplicate content problem on our site over the past few weeks. Lately, we've implemented rel canonical tags in various parts of our ecommerce store, over time, and observing the effects by both tracking changes in SEOMoz and Websmater tools. Although our duplicate content errors are definitely decreasing, I can't help but wonder why some URLs are still being flagged with duplicate content by our SEOmoz crawler. Here's an example, taken directly from our Crawl Diagnostics Report: URL with 4 Duplicate Content errors:

/safety-lights.html Duplicate content URLs:
/safety-lights.html ?cat=78&price=-100
/safety-lights.html?cat=78&dir=desc&order=position /safety-lights.html?cat=78 /safety-lights.html?manufacturer=514 What I don't understand, is all of the URLS with URL parameters have a rel canonical tag pointing to the 'real' URL
/safety-lights.html So why is SEOMoz crawler still flagging this as duplicate content?0 -
Problem with Rankings and On-page Optimization
Hi SEOZ 🙂 I have a question regarding the Rankings and On-page Optimization in the seomoz Campaign Manager. I have setup a website url for examle: www.keyword.com After that created a list of all the target Keywords, that I want to reach within my Website: keyword-a, keyword-b, keyword-c and so on... Then I did a On-Page Analysis for all the urls with the specific keywords. keyword-a: www.keyword.com/keyword-a/ keyword-b: www.keyword.com/keyword-b/ keyword-c: www.keyword.com/keyword-c/ and so on... Most of the urls got the A grade. Now after the Website hast launched and got crawled, I have a problem with the Rankings and the On-page Optimization. The Rankings for my Keywords and also the Grades at the On-page Optimization are only shown for my Start/Homepage: www.keyword.com NOT for the urls that are specific for a Keyword for example: www.keyword.com/keyword-a/ Also the Grades are shown for the Keywords but again only in combination with my Start/Homepage www.keyword.com NOT for www.keyword.com/keyword-a/ What is the problem? Bye, Alex
