How to start more deep seo.
-
Okay, lets say that I already fixed all my technical seo stuff. All my crawl errors and warnings are gone. Now I really want to start seo so I have a few questions.
1. I know I should work based on a page and not on a domain, so it means I should choose which keyword to optimize each page for? only one keyword per page? or it might be more?
2. Some keywords are very competitive for me, example for my site www.theprinterdepo.com, the best keyword to rank would be printers, but it would take years a beginner to do that, what should I do?
3. If highly competitive keywords are not an option, which keywords shuold I use? the ones that have more global monthly searches?
Thanks

I agree with Ryan - you need a strategy. I think one of the biggest mistakes we can make when targeting SEO keywords is going too broad and hoping that we can capture things that quite honestly aren't the right fit. You really have to know them, their terminology and how they search. The article link Ryan shared is a great layout for how to go about a sound strategy, which will eventually answer your questions.
However, as for the global monthly searches - personally, I say ignore that. Check the "exact" phrase box and look at the local monthly searches. I want to have an idea of how small of an audience I can end up with if I select certain words. It's a very different perspective to find out a word you thought was really popular actually gets 170 searches a month and at best I can only hope to capture a percentage of that.

I think what you're really talking about is crafting an SEO strategy. I'm a big fan of persona-driven strategy development. Go here:
http://www.seomoz.org/blog/the-8step-seo-strategy-step-1-define-your-target-audience-and-their-needs
This is the first of eight posts from a former Yahoo Media on SEO strategy. It's going to force you to carefully consider your target audience, do a lot of competitive research, think about content, etc. Yes, it's a lot of reading, and a lot of effort. It's worth it. Trust me.

Plugins and SEO
I'd like some expert guidance. I've searched for a theme that does what I want and finally found something I like, but I'm wondering what you all think I should do to increase it's searchability. The plugin has all the listings and styling. All I need to do is past the code into the wordpress site ad voila! I have a page. Using the widget lets me allow upvotes and provide map etc. But it means the content is inside the widget instead of on the page. What would you modify if you wanted to keep the theme & widget to get the best results. http://best-of-sacramento.com/dentists This is my staging site.

Wordpress SEO for ecommerce store
I have been working on a wordpress ecommerce website and want to check that I am doing something correctly so hope someone can help. The Wordpress theme did not allow for an introductory content so the developer built a content page Instead to work as a front end category page so there was more flexibility. I have set the product categories to follow- no index and set the content page as the canonical version and optimised the content page.. question is - is that the right thing to do?

Because Google used that to find out which country your target audience was. But is this still important and have it an influence today regarding to SEO? Hope there is someone who can help 🙂

SEO quandary advice needed
I'm in a bind, I've been working on my SEO for a while now and have finally landed on the top page for [fishing kayak reviews] in Google US. The problem is it's not the page I want to be ranked! I've recently updated my reviews component to a more robust system but the url is slightly different. Looking currently [Reviews without Images] http://www.yakangler.com/fishing-kayak-reviews is ranking in Google but I would like [Reviews with Images] http://www.yakangler.com/fishing-kayak-review to rank instead. What would be the best solution for this problem? Adjust the url for [Reviews with Images] so it take the place of [Reviews without Images]? Do you think I will get any negative impacts from this?

SEO multi-language ecommerce with Oscommerce
Hello Team, I have few things that have been bugging me for a while. I hired a SEO company, Just Search in Italy, to do the full campaign for me, both for Italian and French language. However, I'm a little puzzled over their suggestions: -for muti-language they suggested to use separate domains Sposae.com for Italian and Sposae.fr for French. I'm a little worried about this because this means that I would need to do double job every time we do any changes or updates to the website, because now we have two ecommerce software running. Right now I have on Sposae.com both languages, using the Ultimate SEO URL. My question to you all is do I really have to use different domains? The system I have now is really not good? Thanks a lot

Google Places for Local SEO
I am a webmaster at a company with over 50 clients, and I have to list the businesses of our clients in Google Places. Most of our clients are architecture agencies and construction companies, so they are unfamiliar with these things, and that's why I have to list their businesses on Google Places. It would be easier for me to manage all the places for these different businesses if I create the places with one gmail account. Can I use one gmail account to list the businesses for all our clients?

Advertising and negative impact on SEO
On one of my sites, I've been trying to get the word out by contacting blogs and asking them to share my site with their readers. This has resulted in some free publicity for my site, as well as quite a few paid reviews/sponsored posts. Note, however, that I've never paid for links, just reviews of my site... When I started this about 2 months ago, my site was a PR3 and getting fairly lowsy organic search traffic (i.e. 30-40 visits a day from Google). Then a few days ago, my PR dropped to 1. I didn't worry too much though, because my organic traffic was still around 30-40 visits a day. Now today, I checked and I only had 1 visitor the entire day from Google. Obviously I've been penalized. My most important question is, what can I do? Do I have an recourse, or do I need to just shut the domain down and move elsewhere? Second, wtf is Google penalizing this? I understand the argument against paid links, but should I not be allowed to advertise my site? Apparently I can buy links all day long through Google and they'll happily take my money, but the minute I pay some poor blogger to write an article about my site to their audience, I get penalized? Please help, I can't believe I just destroyed one of my sites like this!
