Conflicting Data with Open Site Explorer & SEO Moz Toolbar
-
Hi there,
Why is my SEOmoz toolbar showing me higher linking root domains than open site explorer?
For example, for this site: http://thisisouryear.com/, the linking root domains in SEOMOZ show 1,015 and in open site explorer it says it has 35. I have noticed this for other sites as well.
Which one is right? And why are they different?

When you look in OSE, it shows 35 LRD but right above the large metrics is the small print "Link metrics for the page http://thisisouryear.com/".
The key word is "page". If you look at the SEOmoz tool bar it offers three sets of link metrics: the page, the sub-domain and the root domain. If you look at the page metrics for the URL you will see it shows as 35 LRD. If you look at the root domain metrics, it shows 1015 LRD.
As an additional note, this particular directory does not warrant any analysis. It is a pay-for-link directory which charges $25 for links and then you choose if you want a follow or nofollow link. If you choose nofollow, then the link is not worth paying money. If you choose follow, then you are violating Google's policies as this site is not compliant with them. You would therefore subject yourself or your client to penalties. Google is coming down hard on manipulative links and their removal is the most painful penalty to deal with in SEO.
The overwhelming majority of directories are manipulative links. If you obtain a link from a directory, please be sure they comply with Google's guidelines.

Yes, same exact URL.

Are you looking at the exact same url? Sometimes this happens if you are looking at www in the browser and non-WWW in OSE, or if there's a trailing slash, etc.

Open Site Explorer: Facebook Shares, Likes, etc.
I don't fully understand what this means in the report for our site: http://screencast.com/t/aG5jbkYWLA here is our site: www.discountqueens.com & we have thousands of fans & facebook likes and all the time on all our posts. For example yesterday we had 73 likes on this post alone: http://www.discountqueens.com/amazon-ultimate-shrinky-dinks-jewelry-designer-1495/ So here's my questions: Is there an error in the reporting? Are we using a social sharing method that isn't giving us valid credit for these links? What should I consider doing differently & why isn't our likes, shares, tweets & Google+ being calculated into our score?

Moz reporting incorrect ranking
Moz is reporting no ranking on one of my keywords, but when I search that keyword on Google we are on the first page. What would cause Moz to report that incorrectly?

Open Site Explorer Link Metrics
I'm new to SEOMOZ. I have a Pro account and have been messing with the tools available. I ran a report in Open Site Explorer on one of my prospects. I also entered in several of their competitors to see how they rank. I would like to show the report to my prospective client but couldn't figure out how to download the information. Is that info available for download? Does anyone have a recommendation for showing prospects how they rank against their competitors. Any help appreciated.

Open Site Explorer results vs. Google Webmaster Tools results
I've been comparing the links to my domain that OSE and GWT show and GWT shows many more links than OSE. Can anyone explain the difference? Does Google report no follow links that OSE does not?

What Does the SEO Moz Crawler Take Into account?
I'm working on a page that has links from some decent pages pointing to it, but a lot of them are low-value blog comments. So I'm pretty sure that its Page Authority is higher than it should be, compared to where it's ranking. Does SEO moz take the type of link into account? i.e. if it's a footer link, blog comment, or forum signature link; this should carry less weight than a link in the content of the page itself, as it does with Google.

Campaign data via API
I am currently in the process of building an in house system for managing our clients SEO campaigns. One of the features that we will be including is a customer login where clients can view their reports and site progress. We plan on providing rankings and traffic stats within this which we will collect on a weekly basis to store historical changes. While I could integrate into analytics for traffic and create my own web crawler for rankings, this seems a waste since I already have that data in one central location. Looking through the moz API details it seems to have lots of functions for links but nothing relating to the campaigns. Is there any way or are there any plans to open up campaign data to an API? If I could do this I would certainly upgrade to allow each client to have their own campaign.

SEOMoz Toolbar in Chrome
The SEOMoz toolbar is displayed very differently in Chrome as compared with Firefox. It 'overlaps' the page, showing on top of the content instead of offsetting the page/window. In other words, the footer or the header of the page (depending on what toolbar location is chosen in the Settings) is eclipsed by the Toolbar. This was not an issue in Firefox. Has anyone experienced the same problem with the toolbar? How can I make the toolbar integrate into the browser window itself rather that popping up on top of the rendered webpage? Thanks.
