Add pictures to website or Slideshare
-
For a law firm website looking to increase its traffic by offering pictures of cars that were in accidents, would it be more advantageous to add the pictures to the website directly (my inclination) or to Slideshare and put the embed code on the site?
Also, we will have an abundance of pictures over time. How would you organize them on the site to maximize their SEO benefit? Have a picture landing page, then links to individual months from the landing page?
Finally, assuming I go with a landing page with links to the months of the year (where that months pictures are stored), should each picture ultimately reside on its own page or is it sufficient to have all pictures for that month on one page?

Hi Ben,
Thanks for your answer.
We are anticipating it to drive traffic, presumably people will like looking at cars that have been in an accident.
I'm still not quite sure how Slideshare builds links back to the client's website. Any experience with this? Can you embed anchor text in the slides that link back to the client's site?
Yes, I think I'll put them in monthly galleries, now it's just a questions of where I'll load the images.

I'd host them on your site and include an embed code as well (for easy sharing). Unless you think having them on slideshare will make them easier to discover in which case I'd probably do both.
I can't say what would work best with regards to getting the images in the image vertical search but if you're looking at usability/sharability I'd definitely organise the images into monthly galleries that are easy to flick through.
Just out of curiosity are you anticipating this content to drive high value traffic or is it more of an exercise in linkbuilding?

Facebook adds a trailing slash to urls?
Hey Guys, we are facing a problem in our www.batuta.com with Facebook shares. Seems like because we choose to set our preferred canonical version urls to end with a trailing slash ( / ), like this one e.g.: www.batuta.com/الوجهات/إسبانيا/ Facebook adds automatically another ( / ) when trying to read the url on first share before its ever indexed in FB. Which makes Facebook think its a bad request! cause then the URL has two // at the end of it. hope this was clear. anyway, so first question: did anybody face this issue before? any solutions? Second, and might be more important: I might be forced to face the option of changing the canonical tags to be a url without a ( / ) if I will have to do this I will enforce a redirect on every url request with an ending trailing slash ( / ) to be redirected to the new canonical version without. will this be enough? how big am I supposed to suffer here? am I facing a long time with double indexed urls? wonder if anybody faced this problem before! Best Regards

LinkedIn Profile Pictures in Search
Has anyone else noticed profile pictures alongside LinkedIn profiles appearing in search, similar to websites with Google authorship enabled? I saw this happening briefly today across multiple verticals and the images seemed to be a bit larger than authorship images. It was also strange that this was happening for some profiles and not others (number of connections appeared to be irrelevant). I didn't get a chance to grab a screen cap before it was gone, but I thought this was interesting and hadn't seen it discussed anywhere else.

Difference between Google+ Followers and Website +1's?
Very sorry if this has been covered multiple times already… I can't find the answer anywhere… This is a basic question: Is there a difference between someone giving my website a +1 and being counted as a follower on my Google+ page? I run a website and a Google+ page for my brand, and these two things are linked. When someone clicks on the +1 button on my site, does that show up in the count that someone sees in the red box in the upper right corner of my Google+ page? And, when someone comes to my Google+ page and adds me to a circle, is that the same as them clicking the +1 button on my site? Or are these two entirely different things? I feel like the terms are used interchangeably, but I'm not sure if it's because they really are two different things, or if they're really the same.I ask because, when I look at my company's Google+ page, it says "+300" in the upper right, but when I see my website come up in an AdWords ad, it says "[Company Name] has 240 followers on Google+"... Why are these numbers not the same?Thank you!Scott

How do search engines understand what social pages are official pages of my brand? If my Facebook page name is not my brand name (even though there are links from website to page and vice-versa) will that confuse search engines?
My question is about social shares, and how search engines understand what profiles are linked to what businesses?

Any ideas to boost rankings for a ticket website?
Hello, I have a ticket website: http://www.TicketTrail.com and I am looking for advice for better SEO for the website. I know its tough because there are so many sites out there like this but wanted to get some opinions. I have done little things here and there and are starting to see a couple of keywords come up but I am trying to get my inner pages ranked so I can come up for long tail keywords based on an actually game or event that is happening. Any suggestions would be great. I have 4 friends that work for me that will do anything to promote the site. Thanks

Does it make sense to have one facebook/twitter account for multiple websites?
If you have several different websites with related themes, does it make sense to just have a facebook or twitter page for the company to make managing the account more manageable?
